I love credit cards so much!

I do see your point and it could be that if I had closed an account and then applied, I would have been approved without calling. But I do know that it was a very quick phone call to transfer part of a credit limit from an existing account to the card I had applied for.

Ok, thanks for the info!

My mind is going crazy trying to decide whether I want to jump on the Marriott 100K before the offer ends tonight. We’re just finishing up the 5K spend on the SPG, and I wasn’t planning on taking on another 5K so soon, but it’s so tempting! I may be without pay for a couple of months this summer because I am possibly transitioning to a freelance role, and my company has a 60 day window to pay invoices. So my first week’s check would come 60 days later, then the next week’s check would come 7 days after that, etc.* It would be even harder to reach the 5K spend in that situation. I know what the wise move is, but that 100,000 number keeps staring at me!

*The Upside: Legit eligibility for business cards. :)

I am so tempted by that 100k offer too! However I still haven't even received my new Ink BP card yet so I've not gotten a jump on that 5k spend. Even with doing some MS'ing, I am not sure I can spend 10k in 3 mos. I hadn't heard the Marriott offer ended tonight. Is that confirmed?

According to the email offer I got, the offer ends today. There's nothing like waiting until the last minute to make a decision!

I also haven't decided if I want DH to go for the Marriott card or not......I'm really waiting until the last minute. LOL. He's at 4/24 with 2 Chase cards in February and 2 in March. I'd really like him to get CSP for the bonus UR, but we're interested in Marriott as well. I'm 6/24, so both are a no go for me at the moment. Thinking of having him apply today for CSP first, then Marriott if the CSP is approved. I'm just a little worried he may not be approved for either card since he got 4 cards from Chase since February.

Makes me wonder if its got anything to do with the negotiations... This SPG with amex and Marriott with chase would be an interesting one...

That's why I'm considering it so strongly...I'm afraid this might be the last big bonus offered for this particular card.

ok, maybe someone can answer this, I currently have a SW premier card, but at the time didnt realize how to go about getting the companion pass. i want to see if I can do that so I have it for 2018 and 2019. at what point should I close it out so I can apply for new cards, to ge tthe points, I know I need to do this towards the end of the year so I gain the pass at the begininng of January correct. If it help I currently have 2 Disney visa's, the chase freedom, the SW plus just got the CSP. the only one within the 5/24 is the CSP. Also would I be better trying for the premier and the regular SW or the business one and the regular, At some point I would like the INK Business

But if they are closed then I don't have that open credit either, so why would chase prefer I transfer my credit line than open from scratch?

For example, say I close both SW cards today (total CL on them is close to $50k). Then wait 30 days or so and app for the CSP. They'd prob give me $25-30k CL. In this scenario they are extending total less credit to me than I currently have.

Or I app the CSP now with the SW cards still open and they transfer maybe half my CL from each SW card over to the new CSP. In this scenario they aren't extending any further credit, just shuffling.

Guess I don't understand the benefit from chase's point of view...

Can I piggyback on this question? I too have both SW cards. If I close both, at what point would I be able to sign up for them again? Ignoring the 5/24 rule, just curious what the rule is about re-applying for cards you previously had.

I am pretty sure @Albort is correct. You have to wait 24 mos from when you received the bonus to be eligible for a bonus on that same card. My dh & I have both received the SW bonuses multiple times.

Great thank you both! I've had both for several years and I don't need the CP again until 2019 so it sounds like I should be good to go if I cancel them now.

Does anyone know how Disney codes annual pass and/or ticket purchases? I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, with 3x for travel and dining. I'm trying to figure out if I should put my annual pass purchase (first time purchasing - getting it for the room discount and dining discounts) on the Sapphire or one of my 2% cards. Chase said that park tickets are not considered travel, but all of the terms I read say it's based on the merchant's classification.

Additionally, along the same lines, has anyone used a Chase Sapphire or other Chase card with higher travel rewards to pay the Disney hotel bill at the end? Does it all classify as travel? If we use our Magic Bands to pay for everything, we'll be purchasing merchandise and other things that wouldn't otherwise classify for the 3x bonus, but I can't get an answer from Chase on how that would work.

Thanks in advance.

We charged everything to our room on our DCL cruise and it all coded as travel. I believe the same works for purchases at the World when you use your Magic Band.

I don't think the tickets classify as travel, but one way to get around this is to fund a Disney Vacation Account (DVA) with your CSR, which does code as travel. This works if you are purchasing the annual pass online or over the phone. You can't use DVA in the parks.

As to the hotel, according to many data points that I have read, it should code as travel if you send all of your charges to your hotel using the magic band.

It's true that it depends on the merchant classification but it seems that Disney codes (most?) everything at the parks as entertainment and not travel (or dining). As Jen said, the way to get those coded as travel is to have the charge go through the hotel.

Hi everybody!

Sorry to to barge in; I made this question its own thread before realizing it'd probably get better-directed attention in here.

I saw a lot of you mentioning the Barclaycard Arrival Plus and I'm interested in getting it to rack up the ~$500 in rewards. The issue is, we already do lodging on the cheap (Airbnbs for less than fifty bucks a night), we have enough airline rewards to last us a lifetime, and we don't really do too much traveling outside of Disney. The only thing really left for those rewards to maybe be redeemed for is our park tickets. The site lists "discounted travel websites" as places that you can redeem the points (or was it miles? I've already forgotten) for. Has anyone successfully gotten tickets through LMTClub and had them reimbursed with this card? It's not like it would hurt to have all those rewards sitting around anyway just in case some emergency somewhere comes up and we need a place to stay, but I try to be more directed with credit card planning.

Did you end up having your DH go for the Marriott yesterday? I couldn't bring myself to do it because of the $5K spend. I just checked and I can still pull up the 100K offer today, although I'm going to assume it will disappear at any moment.

I had been debating about getting this, so after I saw the post about it possibly going away yesterday, I pulled the trigger. Got the We will notify you in 30 days notice. I have car insurance due soon, so was hoping to get it before then.

I actually decided against going for it. I posted over on reddit asking opinions on him already getting 4 cards in February and March. The replies were pretty much what I expected. I suppose I just needed someone else to talk me off the ledge.....LOL. In the end I felt going for 5 (or even 6) Chase cards over the course of 3 months was just too much too soon. We have no prior relationship with Chase so I don't want to mess things up with them. I'll just hold out for a bit on apps for him and maybe just do the CSP in a couple of months. I did see posts about the 100K offer still being available though. Everything I had seen before that stated 5/03, including the email I received on the offer, so I'm not sure what's up.

Good for you! Have you considered calling in to have them review your application? Maybe you'll get lucky and you'll have your card in time.
