I love credit cards so much!

Technically, Visa and Amex both do not support mortgage payments through Plastiq on their cards. See the Plastiq guide on DISchurners for more discussion. So first is a question of whether you can get your payment through on either the CIP or SPG personal. If you can get the payment through, you'll earn 3x UR on the payment and fees using the CIP. Until 8/1/18, you'll earn only 1x Starpoint, equal to 3x Marriott points, on the payment and fees using the SPG personal; after which, you'll earn 2 Marriott points per $1.

UR transfers to Marriott 1:1. So 3 UR = 3 Marriott points
1 Starpoint = 3 Marriott points, but this base earning rate on the SPG personal devalues on 8/1/18, and you'll only earn 2 Marriott points/$1

So basically, if you can get it to work, use the CIP.

Okay that sounds great. Thanks for your help @Lain. The CIP worked for paying my mortgage with plastiq when I was trying to meet the spend. Hopefully it still works. Fingers crossed I stay below Colin’s radar too.

Well I just had to skip about 250 pages, Would never have read it all. Finally sent the email off to Disney (wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com) so hopefully that was the correct address. I'll let everyone know if they respond. Pretty much just laid out all what happened and asked how to have my trip in Oct go better.

Quoting myself here as an update... So its been over 48hrs (Two full business days) and no response. Guess that goes with how helpful the front desk managers have been. I finally got the survey link, wondering if I should fill that out or if its a useless cause too. We've always done on-site so not sure if I want to start planning an off-site trip, its a shorter trip - just a week, but this time my mother (Never been to Disney), daughter and myself. The two of them will surely need an afternoon nap and I just do not feel comfortable leaving the room to go to a park during that time anymore.

I also forgot to mention this in my two page letter to Disney but just remembered; I feel totally sorry for anyone that was within two-ish rooms of us one night. Since the 'security check' woke my daughter she only got a 10~20m nap in that day. All the other times she was woken up we had to shorten our evening and return early however this night we had a late dinner... Lets just say the evening ended with 2 hours of a extremely overtired child who was so worked up she could not stop. :( Thats prob on our Disney permeant record now too.

If you don’t get a response I would reach out on twitter. I’m so not a twitter person just mostly follow stuff I’m interested in but I know they have a WDW team that monitors the twitter account (i.e. complaints, observations, cast compliments).

Yeah I have a twitter account but the last post was in 2007. :rotfl2:

Just found in my SPAM folder a auto reply that was sent instantly that contains the following...

Depending on the nature of your request, and the amount of research required, our response time may vary; however, a member of my Team will contact you within 3 days.

So I suppose they have half a day tomorrow still...

your missing one of the best one...
  • Annual free night award (up to 50,000 points) after card renewal
it seems okay until the free night kicks in. $150 for i think a cat 6 hotel standard, cat 7 nonpeak, cat 5 peak.
Can’t believe I missed that one- I was obviously dazzled by all the other shiny benefits.

I’d give it a week. Do you have a backup plan to staying at a non-Disney hotel for the Oct trip?

(ETA: Twitter. Lol, no worries. You could make an account entitled Literally Anything today and inquire with them. I’ve used their tweet service a few times, they do watch their DMs but it might take a couple hours to hear back.)

I have a quick Amex offer question. I always see it recommended not to buy gift cards during meeting the spend on an Amex. Once I’m done with my spend can I use the card offer to buy gifts cards?
Such as the 10% back at Lowe’s or Staples? I think I saw Staples was up to $100 back, so can I just buy $1000 worth of gift cards and get the 10% back? (Almost done meeting spend on first Amex)

Anyone else using Paypal to buy gift cards through Gyft. com using Chase Ink card? They declined my payment today and I just used it a couple days ago.

Does the Chase Ink give more points when paying through PayPal?

yes, it is super annoying. Sometimes works flawlessly, other times you want to throw the phone across the room.

HAHAH, If this is not a trigger.... I've had the worst luck with all that. After several weeks of fighting it I can now buy cards $100 and under without much issue. I have not tried the $250 recently but I have been 100% on those orders getting denied, well they were charged to the card then refunded to the card but blamed on my CC denying the charge. BS! :rotfl2:

It's hit or miss for me. I get a message when logging into PayPal saying that my login cannot complete and to address security concerns with PayPal. But my PayPal is just fine. Then later on I try again for the same card and it works fine. Or I can have just bought a card earlier and then get the message. Highest value I've purchased is $50 Lowes for the $5 off they just had. Took like 7 tries for it to go through.

I just used the Lowe’s offer to buy Disney cards before my trip. Yes, it worked.

My DH just used the Lowe's offer on his SPG Amex to finish up his MSR. Last night we saw the bonus post and he also has the 10% back showing on his statement.

DH has a Delta Gold card and we're flying Delta in August. I didn't book my flights with this card (used points and a certificate from a previous flight). Is there anything particular I need to do in order to get my free checked bag with this card? Do I just show it to the counter agent?

Make sure his skymiles number is on the reservation. That should track that he has the card (and bag benefit). Just in case you could bring the card and show it to them. If for some reason they insist on you paying for the bag (had that happen once) put the charge on the Amex and then dispute it and Amex will reimburse you.

Lowe's doesn't appear to send L3 data so that should be fine. If you want to obscure it further you can add something else to the order so it's not an even $ amount. I believe Staples does send data so it's better to do that after MSR for less chance of eyes on the account.

I have purchased a few hundred bucks in gift cards at Lowes towards DH's hilton biz msr. I can report back if the bonus posts, but I expect it will. That was thrown in with other things on my Lowes shopping trips, and Lowes doesn't send level 3 data. As far as the 10% rebate, it posts just fine on the gift cards.

OK- finally (after much hemming and hawing) am going to go ahead with nights/flights and put the miles on United. I even have a use for the hotel cert.

My decision now is do I get the cat 6 or the cat 1-5? The hotel that I'm planning to use is actually a Cat 4 at the moment, so I should probably just get the 1-5, rather than getting the cat 6 "in case" they send the points back at an advantageous exchange.

Yeah, I think I'll just do the Cat 1-5, but I will hold off on actually linking the cert to my ressie until we see what they do - I can't imagine they would do the "here is 45k points" like you voluntarily cancelled the cert. I expect I will still be able to use it on the property I'm looking at (its a decent little hotel, but kind of in the middle of nowhere - not likely to be have its category/point value change a whole lot) whatever they do. The reason that points back might be a better deal than actually using the cert is that I think it will only be a 6 night stay, not 7.

Its only risking 30k points or so, but since I actually have a use for a Cat 1-5, and don't have any Cat 6 plans at the moment, I think that risking the 30K points out of FOMO is maybe a little silly.

So I said I'd report back on my CIC with how close to statement close you can be to still make the bonus. I still don't know, maybe someone can help me out here :)

6/22 last charge
6/24 last charge posted
6/28 bonus is showing as earned on next statement

4 days from posting. However, I still don't know when my statement is closing :confused3 On my personal cards it's pretty consistent that my closing date is 3 days after payment due date. My CIC is showing a payment due date of 6/23 so I assumed the statement should be closing this week, 6/26 if it followed the personal setup. But I'm still all in 1 statement cycle, any guess when this will end?

The ones at the end of the month are a little funky and don't follow that +3 rule. I have one like that. I had to google and found an article that listed each date and the cooresponding closing date. Let me try to find it again.

ETA: Well shoot, your due date doesn't fall into the funky date range...https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-ca...s-sapphire-reserve-is-costing-chase-how-much/
