I love credit cards so much!

Apparently we overpaid the car by $1.49... I wonder if they're sending us a check. My first instance of MSing... :rotfl:

Yep, they'll send a check... don't be me and forget to cash it
When they generate a payoff figure they estimate the interest based on the date you expect to pay it off (and maybe a little extra). If they process it ahead of that day they send you the extra back. I got a check for like a 1.02 on some loan and I was waiting for another check to deposit rather than making a special trip to the bank and evidently forgot it. Found the check a few years later with the paperwork, oops.

Congrats on a successful MS, they say start small right? :)

Oh my Kansas City airport is not spacious at all. I had trouble locating the SW kiosk to print boarding passes. TSA wasn't bad at all. But once through, there just seems no place to move. There's no defined walkway, that I could see, you either wind through those waiting on SW flights or those lined up for boarding.

Last night we stayed at Four Points Sheraton which was only 2000 spg pts. I went in with no expectations so I was not disappointed. It was fine for a night before a flight. I know someone else is staying there soon, I didn't get photos before my husband took over the room, but I'll add our thoughts to the hotel thread later tonight or tomorrow.

Now I have to decide between CSR and CSP for my husband who will be applying on Monday. I can't seem to convince him he needs GE and we have no international flights any time soon and that's really the only thing I can come up with to push CSR.

They'll also do credit for TSA Precheck if that's an easier sell. We don't fly much international, but eventually they plan to have GE at cruise ports as well so it made sense to just spend the extra $15 and go for GE now. (and our plans can change in 5 years)

But have fun on your trip!

Circling back to a conversation we were having a couple of weeks ago regarding Marriott cc spend and when the corresponding elite nights post. For every $3K spend, you get 1 elite night. I've tried to research when the elite nights post, but I can't find a clear answer (its not tracked well on the Marriott site). My recent data point is:

$3K spend on 5/10
statement closed on 5/12 (don't think this is relevant)
next $3K spend on 5/21
next $3K on 6/6

Today, I noticed that I was credited for 2 elite nights - probably the 5/10 and 5/21 spend. Based on this, my guess is that elite nights are awarded at some point in the next calendar month after hitting the spend thresholds. It doesn't appear to be tied to statement closing date. I'll keep tracking and report back in July.

how about you are wasting money by not applying for ge because they will pay up to $100 but only if you spend it? lol
did that even make sense?

Good to know. I think we may need to do this. At the end of this month we will have 43 nights combined. We don’t currently have any more travel planned for this year. My DH may do some more work travel but he has nothing on the books right now. Is it just every $3000? Or did it have to be spend from this calendar year? We put around $7000 on it since we got it, but hardly anything this year.

That would make sense at least. I think my odd night that popped up wasn't actually CC spend, even though that's where it was listed. Someone mentioned sometimes getting a night as a birthday gift and now I'm wondering if that might be what happened for us. Our last spend had been in Jan and the night showed up sometime early May, which would have been after hubby's b-day... and nothing else really happened between when I looked and whenever it credited. So I don't really believe it was spend, we hadn't been putting much on that card even before Jan.

Called to cancel my chase marriott card, as my annual fee just posted, was told there is a retention offer on the account but would need to talk with the retention office and they are not open until Monday. I really had no plans to keep the card, so will see what they offer.
:offtopic: Has anyone consistently gotten an error when they try to do online check in on my Disney experience? Both yesterday and today I've gotten an error message with Goofy when submitting it. I have tried two different browsers. Off to Disney soon!

Yes, the KC airport is scrunched! And winds all over. Hard to find anything!

@calypso726, @tink1970, @platamama, and @CaliforniaGirl09, you have the Amex Business Platinum that earns 20k MR per referral, right?

Apparently, you can use your Amex Biz Plat to refer yourself (and I guess others) to Amex's other MR business charge cards (the Biz Green and BRG), and earn 20k MR for self referral to another card and the other card's sign up bonus, assuming you don’t have and haven’t had that card before.

From your Biz Plat, scroll to the Refer a Friend section, copy your referral link, paste your link into an incognito window address bar, a Biz Plat application landing page will load, but at the bottom you can also see applications for the other Amex MR business charge cards, then apply.

This trick works with the Amex Business Rewards Gold (to Biz Green or Biz Plat) too, but the referral bonus on that card is only 10k MR.

Before attempting this, read the linked discussions on /r/churning. I don't have any of these cards, so I haven't attempted or vetted this trick myself.

Thank you! I'm currently at the Shelbourne in Dublin but as soon as I return home I'll research it more...I hope there will be more data points by then!

I do! Thanks for the heads up. I’ll definitely check it out. Btw, I’m due to finally have my huge tax payment MR bonus hit in a couple days (1.5x). It’s been almost exactly 2 months since I made payment. Payment didn’t hit my account until the next payment cycle, which slowed things down. Painful wait.

I feel you...the wait was long but the payoff was exciting!
Rarely am I excited about anything tax related so that's abother benefit of the amex plat
:)

MCI just wasn't meant for post 9/11 security. It's an easier drive for us from there to midMO nowhere than STL but the terminal is just terrible.

The CSR is the only card my DH let me get him and use...good luck with convincing him! The way I think of it is - it's a $150 card (since we always use the travel credit) so only $55 for more than CSP but earning more URs AND with global entry. Trust me, though, sometimes that logic doesn't work with a super stubborn DH!

I think it would code as travel because packages are through a travel agency (Walt Disney Travel Co. something like that, been a while since I bought a package) . I can't imagine that wouldn't code as travel, but I don't have Capital One card to know for sure. I'm guessing that's why Undercover Tourist is setup to code as travel because they also sell other travel things like hotel rooms and car rentals, so they're more a travel agency selling everything rather than just a ticket broker.
Tickets are a separate entity so that would make sense if bought by itself, that should code as entertainment (or something like that). Hotels are separate too, but that's a hotel so I would think they'd code as travel as well, as I can't imagine another category they could pick. So your room charges should work, and therefore anything else charged back to the room.
But maybe we'll find someone with a Cap One card on here who has actually done it :)

Thank you for your help! Yes, I’m hoping I’ll find someone with this card who has done it. :)

Are there any discount credit card sites that take PayPal or chase pay? I know Gyft does, but looking for one with a discount. Trying to finish off my Chase Freedom categories.

Question on lowering credit limits with Chase. I am proactively lowering my limits since I eventually want to double dip CSR/CSP (hopefully it still works in 3 months). My question is what to target. I am at 20% of income (including personal and business) with Chase right now. I've already lowered my Disney card and IHG (which was at a crazy high level). I am thinking of lowering my CIP and CIC. Do they look at overall Credit Limits across business and personal? Or should I not worry about them.

I've been trying to catch up for a couple of weeks. This morning I finally finished up trying to at least skim through all the posts I missed. The last few weeks have literally felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. I'll just summarize so I don't end up with a post that takes up an entire page.

Saturday May 26th - Attended my uncle's funeral services. He passed away suddenly due to a ruptured stomach aneurysm. My dad was rushed to the ER (as we were coming out of the funeral services) for signs of stroke and transferred to stroke unit at a New Orleans hospital.
Monday May 28th - We found out my dad had a mini stroke and they found 2 small aneurysms in his brain.
Wednesday May 30th - Our son fell backwards into a fire ring while camping. This resulted in 2nd degree burns to his legs, arms and hands.
Friday June 1st - We found out FIL has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Saturday June 2nd - My step sister had to deliver her twin baby girls at 25 weeks due to her blood pressure. Babies are in NICU and we're hoping for a miracle.
Sunday June 3rd - My mom's uncle passed away suddenly in the early morning.

I took a few days off work (and life honestly) at the end of last week and beginning of this week to be with my son and DH. We're all stressed out and just plain emotionally and physically exhausted. I'm honestly not sure if I can handle any more bad news. Bringing my son to his dr today for a follow-up on the healing of his burns. Praying it's all looking good.

Now back to the topic at hand. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can use URs to offset the cost of WDW AP. My original plan was to use UR to purchase WDW tickets through Chase, then upgrade those tickets to APs when we arrive for our Labor Day weekend trip. However, we also booked a trip for October for my sons' fall break, so that route wouldn't allow me to make FPs for the October trip at the 60 day mark.

I was thinking I could just renew our APs, which just expired on June 3rd, but I can't figure out a way to use URs to directly offset that cost, besides cashing out as a statement credit which I'd rather not do. It's my understanding the value of a ticket cannot be used toward an AP renewal, so I wouldn't be able to try that either. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I may be missing something because at this point my brain is almost mush.
Wow I feel for you and your family. Hope that’s the end of negatives and lots of positives coming your way.
As for AP cant remember did you book a package through ur? If so add the ap to that package. It should show up in my disney experience. You can redeem it anytime.

I guess I have to see this movie! Heading over to on-demand right now...
It’s a awesome movie. 4 yr old was actually just singing songs from it while in the tub. 6 yr old asked to buy the movie with her graduation money. Good thing disney will come out with a few more before Xmas as I had got it for her but was saving it.

If anyone sees any good disney gc deals please let me know. Have a hard enough time keeping up here. Thanks

Thats a good question. If you've spent $7K since you got the card, you'd have already received 2 elite nights and you should be $2K away from the next elite night (unless they do something wacky like reset on Jan 1 or something).

That would make sense at least. I think my odd night that popped up wasn't actually CC spend, even though that's where it was listed. Yeah - that seems strange. Unless you spent $2,999 in January and $1 in April. Then the elite night would show up in May.

Ebay is always discounting gift cards. @Lain mentioned a sale on iTunes currently. I often see Lowe's discounted there + various others.

Raise is generally the only discounted giftcard site I use. Never had an issue with them and their 365-day guarantee policy is hard to beat. Use the mobile app to checkout with PayPal.

A few questions. So confusing.
I just received my Marriott Plus card. After the $5000 for 100k points, will it have that free night option for every $3000 spent? Or is it certain levels of reward members or certain cards? I can’t find anything on it.

Thanks for helping me get unconfused. :)

I believe the newest Marriott card that just came out does not have the spend for nights. I did not upgrade my card because of that and I thought I might need to add a few nights to bump us to the next level.
