I received an Amex Platinum offer also. DH and I are new to this though and just opened the CSR, Ink Business and CSP. My plan was to follow the advice of opening all Chase cards before considering anything else. When planning a trip is it easy enough to use rewards from 2 different programs? We will uses our rewards mostly for flights and hotels.

Amex Platinum offer is plentiful. I have around 25 mailers from them over the past year... so dont worry about not getting any more.

What's the big deal about 60,000 MR points when the card costs $550/year? Is it an airline transfer thing?

its trying to match CSR/Prestige. i guess the extra 10k MR points would offset the extra $100. I believe Amex wins with its Centerion lounge, but other than that, i dont think its better than the CSR/Prestige.

My wife and I don't ever seem to get targeted mailers from Amex. We get a lot of mail from CapitalOne and Discover. Is there any trick to getting good targeted offers from Amex?

60,000 MR points is not a big deal when you know Amex has 75k incognito offers and 100k targeted offers for the Platinum card. And since Amex signup bonuses are typically once per lifetime per product, it's in your interest to wait for a max offer to apply. Except @calypso726 received a targeted offer without the lifetime limitation language, so if she can double dip on the Platinum signup bonus, kuddos!

Airline transfers are part of it. Variable points are always more valuable than straight cash back for those who travel. For those who book a lot of airfare the 5x rewards is a great way to accumulate their MR. The perks are fantastic for those who will use them if they can't get the business card. I am a big fan of the fine resorts and hotels benefit. Hilton, SPG and Marriott gold is nice too. We will always use the Centurion lounge when we are at an airport that has one and Miami does. It also gives one Delta lounge access too.

I think it is insane that they jacked the AF up to $550. But even if I don't keep the card I will get $400 in airline credits before my AF hits again. I'll also use the $200 in Uber credits. The 60,000 MR will be worth a lot more to me, even as cash since I have the business card and will get 50% of the points back when I pay for airfare with points. Just being able to get a bonus again for the same card again is worth it to me. Never thought I'd be able to after getting the card when it was 100k. That's the only reason it's a big deal to me. Otherwise I'd just keep my business Platinum card.

I would double check your settings with your online account. Make sure you are opted in to receive email offers from them.

Hi guys, hoping someone can help me out!
Heading to Disney in November of 2018 with my family of 5 - will end up needing about $10,000 in Disney GC's and looking to fly Boston to Orlando via JetBlue - generally only spend about $1k/mo on credit cards, pay off at the end of the month - what would you guys suggest?

I currently have a Chase Disney Visa and just opened a Discover It to guy GC's at 5% off at BJ's with 5% cash back .

hi there, I'm fairly new to this whole credit thing, or should I say just getting back into it, I currently have 2 Disney, a chase freedom, and the southwest, plus a upromise. the latest one was the southwest which I applied for and got in April of 2015 ( I think), so does that mean in May I stand at 0/24 as far as Chase is concerned? I'm really wanting to get the chase Preferred, and the Ink, so I get more out of my Freedom.

Typically, everyone will recommend u apply for chase cards first. It is because they have a rule where u can only apply for 5(total) credit cards per 24 month. Chase also has a quadfecta depending on what u qualify for. but their partners for Airlines are United, Southwest, Flyblue. Hotel chains are Hyatt and Marriott.(i might have missed a few). Anyways, if your hearts is set to fly JetBlue, id probably apply for the JetBlue card with Barclay. If your buying $10,000 worth of Disney GC, probably the best is the Business Ink Cash + Sams Club, if u want cash back, maybe the amex Blue card that does 6%. are options too. Your Discover It also works too. Going the Ink Cash will earn points that u can redeem with UA/Southwest. You could aim for a hotel at WDW, find out who their CC partners are, and apply for it. save up points, u can basically have a free hotel for the entire trip. If you dont want to earn points, theres also cards that help knock down the cost like the prestige card, it gives u the 4th night free.

You are correct, you should be at 0/24. u got 5 chase cards to apply for! CSP is great for bonus only though, id apply for the CSR 6month-a year before ur travel dates. Make Minimum spendings on CSP, convert it! Ink cash is a really good card as well. Its de

If your 10k in Disney GCs is for tickets & hotel, I'd consider a credit card to do that. If you can spend $4k in 3 months, a Chase Sapphire Preferred card will give you 54k points (maybe you can add utilities, school fees, etc to get there) Right now, booking a room at POR (which holds 5) is 20k points per night this November thru Chase travel portal. That would get you at least 2 free nights, maybe more. If you buy tickets from Undercover Tourist, they are cheaper than Disney & work the same (link to Magic Band etc) & give 2x points from Chase. I would buy before next January, which is probably the next price increase. I bought our tix for March 2018 trip in January 2017 at 2016 prices.

I agree with Albort, a Jet Blue card would help with airfare too. The Jet Blue Plus card looks interesting but I have no experience with Jet Blue.

We each got a Jetblue Card, for 30,000 miles for a $1,000 spend. So we will have 60,000 miles after the spend. The card gets 2x miles on grocery and restaurants. Groceries are one of our biggest expenses.

People tend to go after the bigger card bonuses but we are currently going with the Jetblue and Disney Visa to meet our goals for next year's trips. If we can get free flights and use our Visa points to cover Disney meals, we'll be quite happy!

We signed up for the Jetblue Family pooling to pool our points. We've found some very reasonable flights from Boston to Orlando.

Following up on @Albort's and @CyndiLouWho's good advice, another benefit of earning Ultimate Rewards ("UR") points through Chase is you can redeem the points for a very wide range flights, hotels, car reservations, activities, etc. through Chase's travel portal at a redemption rate that's often better than cash back. You can even find a number of WDW resort hotels on the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal!

If you get the Chase Sapphire Preferred ("CSP") card, your points are worth 25% more when you redeem for travel through Ultimate Rewards; and if you have the Sapphire Reserve ("CSR"), your points are worth 50% more when redeemed for travel with Chase. Both cards come with large 50,000 UR points signup bonuses when you meet their minimum spend requirements. They also come with annual fees that you have to decide whether you find enough value to pay.

So I signed up for the CSR card in December, and got my wife to sign up for her own CSR card in January for the then-100,000 UR points bonus. We met the minimum spends and have become smart about putting expenses that qualify for the card's dining and travel 3x bonus categories. We also have a Chase Freedom card that we use for expenses falling under the rotating 5x bonus categories, and then we transfer those points to our CSRs. In four months, we've accumulated about ~247,500 UR points between the two of us, and a few thousand more pending. ETA: We'll eventually pool our points together when we spend a lot of those points on a WDW vacation in a few years.

For example, a search of the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal for WDW resort hotels in the first week of December 2017 shows rooms at the following hotels starting at:

Disney’s Pop Century – 8,279 points/night

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort – 11,574 points/night

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – 13,233 points/night

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter – 14,529 points/night

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside – 14,603 points/night

Walt Disney World Swan – 17,715 points/night

Walt Disney World Dolphin – 19,175 points/night

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – 22,041 points/night

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – 22,556 points/night

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground – 23,328 points/night

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa – 24,070 points/night

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn – 29,042 points/night

Disney’s Beach Club Resort – 29,433 points/night

Disney’s Contemporary Resort – 29,661 points/night

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort – 30,041 points/night

Disney’s Old Key West Resort – 31,804 points/night

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort – 32,643 points/night

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – 42,022 points/night

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani Village – 44,205 points/night

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – 50,537 points/night

It's a good feeling knowing that our next stay at WDW will be fully covered by points.

Yes, they are business cards. Many people have businesses and don't know it. Some may be thinking about starting up a business. Some have side businesses in addition to their full time jobs. You don't need an EIN to apply for a business card. If you are the sole proprietor then you use your ss#. Some businesses that people may have and don't realize are a business are sellers on EBay, Etsy, Amazon, pet sitting, pet grooming, travel agent, blogger, online MLM distributor like Young Living or DoTerra essential oils, It Works, Scentsy, Perfectly Posh, Lularoe etc. web design, landlord.

I just got an Amex Platinum offer for 100K points. I just got it last night and didn't open it yet, but that's what the envelope said. Is that 100K offer unusual or is it also plentiful? I'm debating about applying for it, but again, haven't read the details yet.

Over the past few years they'd release a public offer for 100K and it would be available for about 48 hours. Targeted offers come once in a while. DH and I each have only received one targeted offer for that amount and it was on the business card. We each got the personal card at 100K during one of those public offers that were available for 48 hours. Amex sign up bonuses are once per lifetime so our strategy is to hold out until the offer is really high like 100K.
