We told our kids about the DLR/Legoland trip tonight! They are super excited (well, my girls are excited about DL...meh about Legoland), especially since it's so close. We normally tell them about WDW when we are like 200 days out lol.

Can I ask a couple questions here since several of you know DL very well? We normally do one character breakfast. Is there one you would recommend? I'd love for my kids to get to meet some different characters than we typically do at WDW. We will be there June 20-23. Not sure how early all these book up there.

Also, we have one magic morning since we have 4-day tix. Is it better to use it for DL or DCA?

I have no personal experience but I just saw a YouTube video a few weeks ago of FreshBaked doing breakfast at the Plaza with Minnie and Friends and there must have been 8+ characters there.

I think this was the video.

DH is an AU on my CSP. Do I need to remove him before I refer him? All of his other cards are over 10 years old. I want to refer him to CSP and downgrade mine which is up for renewal next month. We (hopefully) close on our house in 2 weeks and as soon as that's done, like same or next day lol, I want to get him started. I'm leaning toward not getting him the CSR and dealing with a double dip and increased MSR and will likely just keep mine.

That AU will only affect his 5/24. so if hes at 5/24 with the AU, u need to remove him.

The magic morning perk given to 3 or more day tickets is actually only limited to DL. The similar early entry for DCA unfortunately is limited to onsite guests :(

As far as breakfast, others might have to chime in since we are going for the first time ourselves in June. Is there one with characte unique to DL? We will be doing Goofy’s Kitchen for dinner since we aren’t really breakfast people and I didn’t see any character breakfasts that drew me with unique characters.

Oh no, I didn't know that!! Thanks for telling me cause we were leaning to the DCA early entry.

I really don't know. I did see a review awhile back where people were saying they had like 7 or 8 characters and it was random who was included each day. Someone mentioned Captain Hook, which would be so fun cause he is hard to meet at WDW. I can't remember which restaurant it was though!

Thank you! That looks great. I think this is the one I read the review about since Captain Hook is there. My kids would love him!

Hmm, no table service reservations at all for our dates. Anywhere! Is that normal???

ETA: Nvm, a few times are coming up...just not places I want lol!

I had no idea they had so many characters there. I regret not doing it in January with my little cousins. I just assumed it was the fab five.

Seems like there's a sneaky way to max out your Chase Freedom's 5x UR PayPal bonus category for cash with no transaction fee: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...cussion_thread_may_27_2018/dzohxad/?context=3

Buy something from REI using PayPal checkout with the Chase Freedom, return it in-store for a cash refund.

I would add that this seems to be a technical limitation that some retailers have with taking PayPal. Some merchants have the ability to refund payment back to your card through PayPal, but others like REI may be only able to refund in cash. This reminds me of an exit strategy during the dying days of the eBay churn for liquidating eBay gift cards, which are (were?) processed through PayPal, by spending them at a certain merchant's eBay storefront, then returning the item in store for cash. I'm putting this knowledge out there, but please don't abuse it. Considering the bonus on the Freedom is limited to $1,500 only, it's not easily scalable anyway.

REI is a membership co-op which donates a share of its profits each year to environmental causes. As an REI member, I do NOT appreciate people taking advantage of us to make extra cash.

Ooooo looks like @speedyfishy pinned it down. PLAZA :)

That's it but looks like nothing available for our dates :(

Keep checking. It's likely something will open up. We have really enjoyed the breakfast at Storytellers, but they only have Chip, Dale, and I think the characters from Brother Bear there. I've heard from friends and the podcast (but haven't experienced it myself) that the Plaza has the best character interactions.

I will keep checking. We are a larger family so we always have trouble getting reservations anyways. It's my fault for putting this off for so long. Life was just so busy and we weren't sure if we were definitely going...and now...AHHH! It's almost here!

Previous to the AU his most recent card is from 2003 so we're good there. I want to PC my CSP to a Freedom and I think I want to keep him AU. On his credit karma acct the date on the CSP matches mine so I think it'll fall before he maxes out, I don't think he needs 5 cards in a year. I'm 4/24 and one drops in August.

My plans for him are CSP (my referral), then CIP (my referral), then a SW double dip beginning of next year. Once he gets CIP I'll downgrade mine. Unless anyone has better suggestions, I think my ultimate goal is building UR and getting CP next year.

If you end up not being able to get the breakfast ressie at Plaza Inn, chances are good you’ll see Hook in Fantasyland. We run into him there almost every trip.

We have never been to DL. But if the rules are anything like DW and there is a $10 deposit for reservations, you may see many cancellations around 10:00 PM the night before you would want to eat. I have also found that I can sometimes break y party up into smaller groups and if reservations are at nearly the same time they will seat us together.

Hmm. DL isn't like WDW where you usually have to book months in advance, but character meals and BB can be tough. If you are a large party you could try making 2 reservations (split the group up) and then trying to combine them when you are there.

That is how it works with dining ressies at DL.

I wonder if one of those conceir cc services could get you anything at Disney dining?

Sooo, for my plastiq mortgage debacle...

I was going in to schedule DD's fall college tuition under the 1.75% promo (have to send series of at least 3, all sent by 7/31, all scheduled by 5/31). So I broke it up into 3 weekly payments, starting 7/17. Pretty excited about that money maker. Last year's tuition was pre-plastiq for me so I paid from checking to avoid the cc fee. :crazy2::mad::rolleyes2

Anyway, while I was in there I noticed that the monthly mortgage that got declined for my June payment is still scheduled for the rest of the payments. They didn't cancel the series. So you think I just let it ride and see what happens with the July payment? :rolleyes1I was also wondering if splitting it into 2 small payments might bet less obvious than a large payment going out the door with a deliver by date of the 1st of the month. :ssst:Thoughts? I was just suprised the gal that caught in and stopped it for June didn't cancel the whole series.

My scheduled payments were still there too - even though they declined the prior month. I just went in and manually deleted them. I was a little concerned that if I didn't, they might flag them again, deem me a pita, and shut down the account (which I don't want).

Oh good to know! My dh wants the breakfast lol but if it doesn't open up and we just meet him in Fantasyland, that would be awesome too!
