SPG points are on sale until May 31. 35% deal. Anyone need to top off at 3 to 1 before Aug 1?

I just called and activated the retention offer on the SPG personal. Buying points should count right? They count in making a minimum spend for people? He did read a list of disclosures to me to activate the offer. It included gift cards. Which kind of killed my plan of getting Disney gift cards for the upcoming trip from BJ's.

A question for those who are calling in hopes of a retention offer -- when you call, do you start with "I want to cancel my card" or "I'm thinking about canceling my card" or something else? I'm on the fence about keeping my AmEx Delta Gold so I don't (at this point) want to call and say I definitely want to cancel, unless that's the strategically best thing to say.

I paid it all off minus the AF the night before. No idea if that had an impact. I figured it would show that I was serious about cancelling. I then said I want to cancel it unless they could give me any motivation to keep it. They then gave their script of it being a great card and then reviewed my account and said "oh look here is an offer for you."

I actually do have a legit name to give, as I applied for a card for DH yesterday, but I'm too scared to call and ask about it!

If you have a legit name you should go for it!! Work up that courage, you legitimately referred somebody to the card That referral is worth around $200 probably!!

Thanks for that! I'm pretty sure you posted this earlier, but I have such a hard time finding things in the thread now that it's moving so quickly.

My first concern is that it won't count toward the bonus because it's going to be hard for me to meet MSR without it, buy my bigger concern is that I will get flagged by Amex for paying a mortgage with the card. But if they can't see the payee... I wonder if I should use a vague category like you did, rather than the real estate category.

Interestingly, my rent is actually set to the Rent/Real Estate category, but for some reason it shows up on the statement as Business Services. I've seen numerous recent DPs on Reddit that say Plastiq counted towards MSR on their SPG cards.

Are you trying to pay the auto loan with an Amex? (Auto loans don't play well with Amex on Plastiq.)

Nope, the first time I tried with Capitol one Master card and second time It was a chase southwest card. I just tried CIP and it went through, hope there's no problem with the check this time.

Does Plastiq let you submit the payment without error? (Does it give you the message that this is an unsupported payment type and tell you to use a different card?)

Yes, Plastiq goes through with no problems.

When you say the check comes back, do you mean Plastiq mailed out the check but then it gets returned?

Buying Starpoints counted towards my SPG Biz MSR. Pretty sure when Amex says "gift cards," they mean Visa/MC/Amex gift cards. Do you know what level data BJs posts to Amex? If they don't report level 3 data, just mix some Disney GCs in with regular shopping.

yup! look at my Level3 data image... i bought a gift card which shows it as clear as day, i still got my points.

You should do it! The first rep told me no and I had to ask for a supervisior. The supervisor wanted the name. The worst they could do is say no.

Have they fixed the Chase pay or what ever issue there was with merging Biz/Personal accounts? I have two accounts and it'd be nice to get them merged, tho I've never used Chase Pay so I guess I wont be out anything but don't want to miss a sweet deal!

i have a combined account but i use my personal login to login to chase pay.

ie Albort1 = personal
Albort2 = personal + Biz account

i use albort1 to login.

My plastiq payments have counted towards msr on my last three cards which have all been Amex.

• Numerous dead SPG personal and Biz links - please delete so as not to confuse people. If SPG links were the ONLY links you had please delete your comment and if you get another eligible AMEX card in the future you can add a comment then.
• Southwest Links in Chase thread - we still have people listing "50,000 points" - please update to the correct 40,000 offer.

So I just made the first payment towards my new SPG I have had in my possession for a whole 24 hours. Yep, maxed out that amazing credit line already.

I would call and ask for an increase, explaining you already hit the limit. They will probably say no, too soon, but you don’t know without asking.

I hope that doesn't trigger some ridiculous Financial Review with AMEX. One of the things they say not to do is cycle your credit limits multiple times within a month (which unfortunately is what that limit will force you to do).

That would be annoying but I haven't done any questionable spending, so investigate away.

My DS is a huge Blackhawks fan, actually hockey in general, but he doesn’t play. I just spent $200 on AHL playoff tix (gotta meet that MSR) Oh and a Sharp jersey.
