I love credit cards so much!

Report back if you don’t get the credit. One of the blogs was saying they were sure if Costco cash cards counted.

I'm always skeptical, but there were no gift card exclusions in writing on the Visa checkout/Costco deal - at least not that I could see. I shop at Costco anyway, so if it doesn't work, its not a disaster for me.

That's our theory as well. I also printed out the offer page with the details in case I need to file a complaint later but no disaster if nothing comes of this.

Gah! I don't know if I should go for the IHG card now! I'm pulling the 60K + $50 Statement Credit right now. I'm not concerned about my Chase 5/24, since I'm only focussing on DH's status for the SW CP at the end of the year. I don't think I would be auto approved because of how much credit Chase has extended to me already, but if they're still allowing us to move credit for a new application (are the DPs still split on that?) I should probably go for it. I have medical bills to pay, so I've been contemplating my next move.

This is me:
1/24 Amazon: 07/15/16
2/24 Southwest Premier: 12/21/16
3/24 Southwest Plus: 12/21/16
4/24 CSR: 02/17/17
X/24 CIP: 06/05/17
5/24 SPG Personal: 07/21/17
X/24 SPG Biz: 01/14/18

While I’m waiting for my SPG card to arrive, I’m concentrating on the fun part and figuring out my vacation goal. My oldest daughter graduates hs in 2011, so that seems like a good time to take a trip. Since I’ll be worrying about college tuition, saving money on airfare and hotel with points may be the only way to take a trip.

DD says she’d like to go to Hawaii (possibly with a stop at DLR on the way). Aside from listening to the DU podcasts about Aulani, I don’t know much about Hawaii. I’m not even sure which island we’d like to visit.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a good website to start my research? Favorite island? Favorite resort?

Anyone know why I would not be able to add my Amex to Visa checkout? Does it matter that it is a business card? I've checked the account number and exp date over and over. I've tried the 4-digit ccv on front and the 3-digit code on the back. I've tried multiple browsers. When I click 'add card', it tells me that the info doesn't matter what is on record.

ETA: tried to add my Amex bcp to see if it was a biz card thing but I'm getting the same error on that card.

If you're doing the Costco offer i think you have to use a Visa fyi.

At this point, I was just trying to add an amex to Visa checkout! I haven't even gotten to the costco page yet to see if I'd be able to use the Amex. Someone mentioned on the GC thread that you could use Discover so I was just going to try it. But I cannot even get the Amex added to my visa checkout.

I'm guessing that VISA + AMEX do not mix. Wouldn't surprise me if they wouldn't let you use a competitor's card in their payment system.

Well that is what I was thinking also but Visa Checkout says you can use visa, m/c, amex, etc.

Uh-oh, I think I'll take a quick trip over there then! This is straight from the offer T&Cs " pay using an eligible Visa card with Visa Checkout on Costco.com"

You have it easy - my DS graduates hs next year - he wants to go to India for his post graduation trip. :scared:

Thanks for sharing that. It seems like the Amex should work on visa checkout but not on the costco offer.

I'll be very interested to see how it comes out on the processing side. The Visa SavingsEdge offers come back as "adjustments" and so I think that means Visa makes the adjustment, not the merchant, so it's not a "refund". I think that's why I haven't seen deductions on my UR points earned on the original purchases (like you would with a refund) on my SavingsEdge "adjustments". This is the first statement credit offer I've done from Visa Checkout so my fingers are crossed we get an "adjustment" that doesn't affect our points earned on the purchase. I'm not overly hopeful this is how it all works (but the terms do state it has to be a credit card "processed through the Visa U.S.A. payment system") but scoring full points would be some nice icing on this cake.

Oh no - so sorry . . . I didn't realize that the Costco offer was Visa specific. BUT, you should be able to add the Amex to Visa Checkout in general (I have my Delta Amex on there).

Sooo....Since there are a handful of us here that do MS'ing...would anyone be interested in the MS thread on the Dischurners? It seems like a nice hiding place to throw out some data points away from the watchful eye off the RATS :teeth:

Yes please. I'm out of ideas since the Walmarts in my area won't process money orders with a Visa gc any more.
