I love credit cards so much!

Ok that actually sounds quite interesting. Do tell.
We've been to England 4 times, and each trip was planned around bands. We're audiophiles, and our favorite source of entertainment is seeing live music. I got into a lot of British bands in high school and college during the 90s, and over the years I've been lucky enough to get to know some of them. So when "once in a lifetime" reunion gigs pop up every few years we go over for them!

I'm curious how you do a retention call. Do you just call and say that you are considering cancelling the card and see what they offer, or do you call and ask for specific things?

Something like that. I called Citibank, told the automated system I wanted to cancel my card. Then I told the rep that I considering cancelling your card, but at the current time, my CSR seems to be the dominated one. They told me they they might have some special deals and offer those 2 special offers.

Tried with Barclaycard the same day too. I asked about PC my card. they refused, no special deals... Ask to be transferred to retention, they said they can't transfer ppl, I asked for a # to call retention, they assured me I can't call them so I told them to cancel my card. That's when they got an account specialist(aka retention) to see what they can do to keep me as a card holder.

I only have the CSR. Could my whole family get in with my Priority Pass card?

Yes!

Edit: I'd note that lounges may refuse additional guests periodically due to capacity. My family was traveling through SFO in January when we tried to get into the Air France - KLM Lounge lounge. The host told us they were only admitting airline passengers at the time due to capacity, and they expected to open up for Priority Pass guests about 30 minutes later. We passed, and that was a bit disappointing.

Following up on the subject of lounges denying entry to Priority Pass due to space issues, The Points Guy has this post: http://thepointsguy.com/2017/02/priority-pass-denying-entry/

Seems like a lot of comments about this happening.

Completely off topic but I don't know what I'm more envious of-calypso726's HP tickets or house themed nails :)
Right? I pulled this thread up on my laptop last night and saw her post, and I said to DF, remember that awesome person I told you about who's gong to see Hamilton on points? Look what they did this weekend!! He asked what her nails were and I basically like THE HOUSES DUH. :rotfl2:

I have a question about transferring some of my Chase UR to SW. I have the CSR. My DH is not on an authorized user. But, he is on our Chase Freedom. Can I transfer points to his RR account from UR?

I have not transferred to SW, but for United I was only allowed to transfer to an AU. It is a simple process, and only takes a few minutes. In my case, I called, had Chase add my daughter as an AU, and was immediately able to transfer points to her United account.

You want to transfer to SW CC? Or SW mile account? Can't you just put in SW FF#?

You don't have be be AU for general points transfer, have to be in same household. I have CSp, DH has CSR. I am not AU on CSR. I logged on to CSP, click on points total. When it takes you to new page, your points balance will be in upper right corner. Tap that and you'll see an option to combine points. I think you have to then link the card, but I was able to transfer all my CSP points to DHs CSR.

Trying to transfer to his RR. When we had the CSP his RR account showed up to transfer from my CSR. We downgraded the CSP to Freedom. Now his RR account doesn't show up to transfer to.

Acronym overload LOL.

My understanding of the questions was if Ultimate Reward points could be transferred *out* of the program and into the Southwest's Rapid Rewards account of a household member who is not an authorized user of the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. The household member has a Chase Freedom card.

Chase Freedom cards do not have the ability to transfer Ultimate Rewards points directly to airline partners, so, in this case, having the Freedom card does not help getting the points where they need to go.

To transfer points out to a Southwest Rapid Rewards account, the holder of that account either has to have their own premium Chase card or be an authorized user on a household member's premium Chase card (in this case Psychodisney's Chase Sapphire Reserve).

I just realized how much it stinks to add an AU to the CSR... Might it be possible for *you to apply for a CSP so he could be an AU free of charge? That might take a bit of time, though, unless you're instantly approved.

Thanks for the help. Acronym overload is right!
We just downgraded our CSP to Freedom. I think I'll have him get his own CSR. I doesn't make sense to pay $95 to add him to mine for that to be the only benefit.

I guess I would just open my own RR account then.

In my case, that would not have helped: there were points in my daughter's MilesPlus account that I *needed in order to have enough to purchase her award ticket. It can get complicated when one is trying to use a combination of points earned through travel and points earned through cards.

I guess I'm assuming Psychodisney's situation is similar...

Flying back home tomorrow with another bucket list item crossed off my list thanks to travel hacking. Seeing a West End show in London. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child parts one and two. Amazing play!

Ah I saw this with my son last year! I am curious what you thought of the plot. I thought the play was very well-done but (no spoilers) I can't say I thought the plot was up to the usual HP standard. Although the HP books have a special place in my heart - my kids were the perfect ages for these books and we actually started reading them from the very beginning, even before they became popular. So glad you got to see it!

Do you have a redemption in mind for your Fairmont card?

I have a long list of possibilities but nothing definite. I would love to follow calypso's example and fly across the country for a weekend to see Hamilton but so far I don't see any good ticket options. Also, several of my kids are abroad so I am contemplating possible 5-day visits for the fall. I don't know how old calypso is but I am pretty sure I must be at least a decade older because just the thought of weekend international travel makes me tired!

I would agree but I'd already read the play so I knew the story going in. I began reading them in 1999 as an adult. I waited at Barnes & Noble until midnight for each new book. I've always been a kid at heart. So, of course when the play came out I simply had to see it. I was blown away. There were parts that left me in stunned awe. Wow! Just. Wow! Seeing the magic of HP on stage was wonderful.

I'd go see it again if I could ever talk DH into flying in economy across the pond. Travel hacking has turned him into a spoiled princess that won't fly in economy for flights over 3 hours. The thought of blowing another 340,000 miles for first class flights to go see a play for the second time makes me nauseous.

Oh and to keep this on topic. Using points and miles earned with credit cards to go across the pond back and forth a few times each year will qualify you for the the Registered Traveller program. It's the U.K. version of Global Entry. We got our cards from the Border Force on this trip. No more waiting in customs on either side of the pond!

Calypso just turned 48 last month  I'm home and I am tired but I was able to sleep on the plane. You get turndown service on international first class flights with BA, plus jammies and slippers to change into then drink a nice glass of wine before a nice dinner on the plane. When you fly into and out of LHR in first you can spend time at the Concorde Lounge and have a complimentary mini spa treatment at Elemis.

So the international weekend trip wasn't too bad. This summer we are going for just a few days to Scotland and we'll be slumming it in business class for the first time. No jammies, no slippers ... the horror :lmao:#firstworldproblems

New poster to this thread, but I have been following. I applied yesterday for the Southwest Business Card. I got a "we will let you know in 30 days". Should I call or wait it out? I am under the 5/24, have a great credit score, bank with chase, and it is a legitimate business (rental property).

I got the same message a couple of weeks ago. Same scenario as you. I called...maybe a little impatient, maybe a little excited to get the spend done to get the companion pass. The agent asked a few questions, didn't commit to anything, and I got an email 2 days later welcoming me to my new SW account.
