I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Yup! It was Christmas week out of Miami for my 50th birthday. If memory serves we hit a SUB and required spend for the BA card to get a travel together ticket for the future. We also used AA miles for the flights to Chile. If I were to do it all again, I’d hit the spend on a few cards or a card that had a very high MSR. I would still love to repeat that trip with an add on to South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
Back then we weren't seeing such high required spend. Or maybe I wasn't looking at those cards?

In any case I am still waiting for my new southwest card to arrive. I think it's $4000 spend in maybe 6 months? And I noticed they have pay yourself back? I wonder if it's one to one on the points? When I actually get my card I can check it out.

No one in my family seems to be going anywhere in the next few months other than me. Maybe I'll blow through some of the points by picking up some Disney cards to pay the dues.

editing to say nixing this idea already as SW is worth a bit more than 1 to 1.

It’s $4,000 in 5 months. I was approved yesterday and my tracker says by February 3, 2026.

Yeah back then high MSRs weren’t as common as now. But BA had and still has the ability to earn a travel together ticket for $30k spend in a year. So if one person books a RT flight for 200k Avios then the travel together ticket would allow the companion to fly the same route for the amount of taxes and fees.

Just got approved for SW Priority card. :thumbsup2

For those that have recently got a SW card - how long does it take before Southwest recognizes you as a cardmember? Does it show you as a credit card member on your Southwest account anywhere? I have some flights to book, but want to make sure I am getting the free bags.

I haven't received my card yet, app'ed and approved end of last week.

I can see my new card's last 4 digits in my card list in my online business account where both my personal and business cards show. They've actually charged me the annual fee already. I got the plus card which also gets first bag free, for the cardmember and up to 8 additional passengers in the same reservation so 9 bags in total.

Edit to add: this showed up in my Chase account almost immediately. Applied on Friday and noticed it by Friday night.

Not sure which card you applied for but if it was the priority you could try booking a dummy flight in basic and and see if it gives you the option to pick a seat for free

I literally just got an ink two weeks ago and already need another card. Auto/car insurance will wipe out the rest of the spend here. Property taxes coming up next month.
I know Amex has "lifetime" rules. If I can't find a NLL Delta card, any idea if 7 years is actually considered a lifetime? It's been 7 years since my last Delta Biz card. They would give me the pop up if it won't work right? Of course I have already been in pop up jail on all Amex cards for years.

DH and I just got the annual fee charged for the CIP we got last year. He has a CSR and I have a CSP. I'm not really seeing any reason to keep the CIPs, but wanting to make sure I'm not missing anything before I cancel.

DH current Chase cards:
CIC
CIU
CIP (thinking of cancelling)
CSR
Hyatt
CF

My current Chase cards:
CIC
CIP (thinking of cancelling)
CSP
Hyatt
IHG
CF

Wanting to apply for a personal SW card for DH and another biz card for me in the next few days.

For what it's worth, the free bag benefit is assessed at time of flight, not time of booking. So, if you think flights may go up, you can book now and then go back in to use your seat selection benefit when the card shows on the account. You'll get the bags as long as the card is still in good standing when you fly.

Also, I noticed a small banner at the top on SW's site when I'm logged in that shows Cardmember next to my name and points amount. So, that should appear when SW hears from Chase that you got the card.

If you don't get a popup you'll get the SUB. Not sure if 7 years is 'lifetime', but I'd give it shot if you want the card!

The only thing I am thinking about is, at least for now, the CIP is still giving 3X on all travel, while CSR is going to 4X but only on hotels and airlines booked direct, no more rental cars, cruises, etc.

DH's CSR just hit the annual fee at the old rate on Sept 1, will probably have him downgrade it to a CSP next year.

I took a promotion about 20 months ago, ever since then I've been slacking on my churning tasks. I used to keep track of all the offers we used, I need to get back to that. I wasn't a fan of my tracking spreadsheet. Does anyone have a good spreadsheet that they use that they wouldn't mind sharing?

For those going for the Atmos Summit, the card takes quite a while to arrive. It's out for delivery finally, 2 days short of 2 weekend since approval. FYI in case you need it fast
Yeah we found this out the hard way. Signed up hoping to have it in time for tickets to a New Year’s Eve/Hogmanay gala at DINE in Edinburgh that were going to be released September 1st since it would code 3x as a foreign transaction. It did not come in time. Used the Strata Elite instead to buy the tickets since that should code as dining for 3x. So that worked out.

I'm planning a direct DVC purchase toward the end of September so I can have my choice of the current incentives or the post 9/29 ones. I just got approved for the CSR Biz card (200K UR points for $30K spend), but my credit limit is only ~$25K. I assume it's easy to charge the first $25K, pay it down, then charge the rest, correct? Or does DVC need it done more cleanly than that? Anything else I should know about using credit cards for direct purchases?

Do you have other Chase business cards? If you do, you can transfer some of the available credit to the CSR.

Nope. Only biz card I have. I'm guessing it's not going to be a problem because I've heard they're flexible with both timing of payments and methods. I was just hoping someone here had done it so I could confirm.

Did you use the CIP Chase Travel $50 promo credit already?

That would be credit cycling if you're doing it within the same statement period. I've done it with Chase for a smaller amount. Are you only planning to cycle $5000? If it was larger amounts I would feel that's more risky. No experience buying DVC, so can't comment on that.
