I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

This is the 2nd trip this year where a change in weather after I'm there has caused me to buy clothes. Ended up having a day with rain in Paris and only suede sneakers so had to buy new.

Currently in Philly, left on the redeye Friday expecting 80s all week. It's barely made 70 and I'm going to the baseball game tonight so I bought new jeans so I won't be cold. I was planning to buy some this trip anyway but still. I have stopped packing the just in case outfits etc, though neither of these situations would I have planned as just in case.

Some do it. For me it is not worth the risk and worry over it. Amex claws back points more than other card issuers.

In my experience Staples reports level 3 data to Amex. Buying the gift cards isn’t a problem, but I wouldn’t include it towards the bonus spend.
That's what I was thinking. I'll just use a CIC and get 5x.

I just got my car insurance renewal and it's jumping up $1300 for the next 6 mos thanks to the 2 claims my daughter had (1 accident, 1 deer who took out her whole drivers side). So that means I have about $7k in spend coming up in September (between property taxes and insurance alone).

I never look at the bigger spend offers. Is there a great business spend worth trying for? I'm so happy I have my "big girl job". The idea was to take the extra money and try to save it up. Sadly all this extra money is just flying out the door :(.

If you want to use the Chase travel portal, you want to get as much over there as you can before 10/26. What's on the card will still redeem at the better of 1.25 or the Chase points boost (when available) for a couple more years. Anything earned or transferred after that date redeems at 1x if there isn't a points boost on the offering.

Of course, if you aren't using that 1.25 as one of your redemption options, who cares :-)
'Dd' (me) got a CSR several weeks ago (the new and not-improved version). 'She' (me) has earned the 100k URs; if I transfer them to my CSR will I be able to redeem them at 1.5? Or will Chase know that they are from her card and restrict value on those points? I'm also wondering how they will know which points I've earned and which have been transferred to my CSR. How good is their IT department?

I read it explicitly includes transferred points, too. It's what you have on there on the cut off date.

Not finding the Chase language in my quick search, but this article does say transfers count: https://frequentmiler.com/chase-tra...-25c-redemptions-replacing-with-points-boost/

But, I thought if you opened the card after the announcement, you had already lost that benefit (or really you never had it to begin with).

Transferring chase points..... this is just one more thing they're doing to make things a bit more difficult now.... it's a PITA to use different cards and transfer now (I used to do it once a month) now I wait till a certain amount of points before bothering,or I just use one cc (GASP) to simplify things. It seems to change every time I go back to do it,sometimes it's a text, sometimes it's login to app,I'm hoping they don't make me call

Regarding the Amex Platinum refresh. I've been reading on other threads and agree with this. If you can use the flight credits if you have the card before the refresh speculated date of September 18th, you might get a reset in flight credits (I proactively use these right away), but if any of you are holding out, now is the time IMO.

DW has an Amex personal plat being delivered tomorrow. Right now Staples.com has no fee on $200 Visa gift cards. Would Amex not count the spend if I bought a few? I know they hate gift card spend for a MSR but just curious if anyone has done a little bit.

Thinking of purchasing a few of these, but concerned about the ability to actually use them. Anyone care to share how they use the virtual Visa gift cards?

I use the travel credit very early in January every year to put funds in my UTB. It would be amazing to get another $200 this year! My UTB picks up a lot of random flights.

This would be amazing. I hope it's true.

I was waiting for a trip report! YEAH!:-) Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Sometimes I think I over hype Yellowstone and worry others won't like it. When someone asks me which is my favorite park, I say Grand Tetons. Stunningly beautiful. Glad you were able to make it down there for a day.

Sorry about Snow Lodge cabins. There must be a few types. When I stayed there the cabin we (me and my daughter) got was just as large as the one at canyon area. But as you said, no view or nice area to see right at the cabin. I didn't have Internet in any of our cabins. Just the VCs and maybe the lodge/restaurant area in Canyon. It was almost 10 years ago. I'm sure things have changed.
@StephPlum - better late than never I ask shyly .. lol... where is your Yellowstone and Tetons trip report? I cannot find it anywhere. I also can't tag you. Whataday!
