I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

If you go into your account and look at upgrades is Savor shown? If so I would sign up for the X with its welcome bonus. I would then transfer the Venture miles to the X and then “upgrade” the venture to the Savor as the bonus is usually not much on the savor card. The savor earns cash back but can transfer 1 way as miles to the venture and venture X for travel or transfer partners.
WOW yes it is shown as a swap option! I've only had the card for less than 6 months... I'm gonna try for the X, if I get denied, I should just keep my basic venture- as-is? Or I may swap it out anyway bc of that 3% groceries....is Cap1 tough to get? ETA....So I think I have the Venture Rewards cc (didn't realize there were so many flavors here) with $95 AF. Possible to hold that plus the X?

Yes you can hold both but other than a welcome bonus not sure why you would.

Venture One - $0 AF earns 1.25 miles per $
Venture - $95 AF earns 2 miles per $, has GE/TSA credit
VentureX - $395 AF ($300 credit in Cap1 portal and 10k miles 2 months after anniversary makes AF -$5) earns 2 miles per $, has GE/TSA credit, Lounge access through Priority Pass and Cap1 lounges.

The savor card earns the 3% for dining, entertainment and groceries but the points are cash. You can not use them for transfers to travel partners unless you first transfer them to a Venture card first.

Since you have had your current venture for only 6 months I would not do anything for another 6 months as it’s best to hold the card for at least a year.

I would apply for the X and hopefully you are approved. Afterwards you should in 6 months then “upgrade” to the savor that has $0 AF and then you would have a 2% card for everything else and 3% for dining, entertainment and groceries in the savor card that you can then transfer to the X.

Ok thanks! So this is what I'm wondering,If this is an option to swap now, why wait for 6 months? ANNNdd.... I've only had the venture since March 13, I'm reading online I have to wait 6 months between apps? True?

Trying to catch up on all the new CSR news…was away all week in Cancun, stayed at Ava beautiful resort.
Also looking to open a new card, was going to wait until the end of the year to try for the SW CP with 2 cards, but now not sure if it’s worth trying for since we have been flying JB more since they came to ISP. May try for another Ink now instead.

I'm not sure how long between Capital One applications you might be able to do it now or you might have to wait sorry it has been a long time since I had applied for them.

The reason to not swap now was based on two things.
Generally banks don't want you to grab the welcome bonus and then abandon the card right away. However this might not apply to you since you are not really closing an account but instead transitioning to a new card.

The other reason was with using the venture miles for travel. If you are and you switch to the savor and then get denied for the Venture X then you will not be able to use it for the transfer partners and such.

Annual Fee just came up on my AMEX Biz Gold Card. Have had it for 2 years. Just don't think I can justify the $375 annual fee anymore. I do have the AMEX Biz Blue Card to hold my MRs. I can still transfer to partners with the Blue card right?

Yep this is what has me concerned but on the other hand this year to date we have flown 3 one ways with SW and 7 with JB, so the CP isn’t as valuable as it once was when SW was our only option out of ISP….definitely a lot to consider
Not to mention, that SW's prices have really gone up. We always used to fly SW on points as it saved us quite a bit - even though we rarely got a direct flight. Now I have fly the same on Delta or cheaper on Sun Country and have direct flights. Have not flown SW for probably a year or more. Used to alternate on getting the companion pass but not sure it will be worth it any more. I wish AMEX would like us again, so we can get more Delta Points...

Well I waited and waited and the MR transfer to Hawaiian has ended. I wasn’t paying attention and it actually ended in the wee hours of this morning. For sure thought I’d have until end of day today.

Oh well. I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to transfer anyway.

I have been lucky checking the website daily or more, our direct flights are in the 5,500-10,500 point range. Since we have over 200,000 SW points it’s good for now.

Can’t remember the last time one of us didn’t have a CP so it feels odd to even consider not trying for it. On the other hand URs are extremely valuable to me as well utilizing PYB and booking hotels through the Chase portal.
Haven’t applied for a Chase card since November since I keep trying to decide what to do.
With Serve ending next year I wouldn’t need to keep a bunch of CICs to max that out.

Flights lately from MSP to like Orlando or Miami are in the range of 25,000 to 30,000 points each way... and 1 or 2 stops..

I just thought of something new. I plan on doing the Marriott 5 FNC under my DD. She's 20. Is that going to be an issue? We'd likely use them to book AI's and I think most of them just require you to be 18. But I know most hotels in the US require you to be 21. Anything she books I would be with her more than likely. She doesn't have a Marriott account either. I guess I need to look into that before I attempt that card.

My BF has gotten all the spends lately. My son's skates ($1), my pipe ($1875), hospital bill ($700). We'll have my daughter's deductible coming up, her fall semester too. So I thought I'd put that on the Marriott card. Plus I found out Delta will match educational "donations". My son's school is listed and it's what we write the checks for hockey too. So now I can pay buy CC. Delta absorbs the processing fees AND will match what we pay! So I can use a CC for hockey ($5k). I just did a trial payment sending over his payment for summer camp ($180). But I think the card has to be in my BF's name, so I guess he'll get that spend, LOL. Maybe I'll have him get his first INK, LOL.

I booked Chicago-Miami-Lima mixed economy/biz class flights on AA metal with Alaska miles for 45kpp, a few months ago. Last night I saw four tickets available on the Chicago-Miami flight in domestic first class, for the same price as the mixed cabin itinerary. When I went to self-service the change, it errored out at on the final screen. Called Alaska and was on hold in the background for 2hrs 32 mins! In the meantime, I used their chat feature, which took 30 mins and resulted in the agent telling me she doesn't see availability on her end.

This morning I called and waited on hold for only 20ish minutes and the agent was super helpful, said she could see availability, but it also errored out for her. She said, I'll do it manually. She got the tickets issued and I was able to assign our seats.

The flight time is 3h12m. It took me that long to make the cabin change :rotfl2: The lengths I'll go to not to have to sit next to a stranger 😂

Me too. I didn’t want to speculative transfer. Saw a flight on Alaska today and went to transfer to Hawaiian and nope. Not there. Oh well I have the miles, just didn’t want to deplete.

I thought 6/30 meant all day, too.

Finally buying tickets to nyc for Canada/New England cruise in September. I’m glad I waited because it looks like United changed its schedule due to the ewr issues. Trying to coordinate this so my mom and I can fly out of the same airport has been interesting. I think I finally solved the puzzle—she flies into ewr and out of jfk and I fly into lga and out of jfk. Meanwhile I leave for Norway in < 6 weeks. Can’t believe I’m doing two cruises in a month but I haven’t had a real vacation in > 3 years.
