I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

My husband and I were and to app a 3rd Chase bus with a SW card at the end of '24. We both had two inks open.

I thought the recommendation right now was that you could have 2 cards, making the app your third, and could generally get it through. Not sure if @palhockeymomof2 meant to say you should have "2 or less cards" or "less than 2" aka only one at time of application. Maybe it's even tighter in the last 6 months?
Thank you! I was wondering the same thing? If we should each have just one business card or 2? I was also wondering if the total chase CL includes the business card available credit since they don’t appear on the credit report? I’m trying to figure out if I should move some of the credit limit amounts from some of the business cards to the ones I intend to keep open or just let it go since we have too much cards and too much credit?

The total Chase CL applies to business and personal cards so if you don’t need the business CLs I would just close the cards and not transfer CL

Do I need to be concerned at all with Chase shutting us down? We haven’t received any kind of bonus in well over a year, but we did just reserve a trip with a substantial amount of our earned UR points and I don’t want that to be canceled. I’m asking because I’ve never closed that many cards all at once. It would be three cards for DH and two cards for me, leaving us each with two different Chase business cards.

when I close cards it’s one at a time, using SM. I’ve never closed a bunch at once so not sure how it works maybe someone else here has done it.
If I wanted to close that many I’d probably space the closings out over a month or so, doing one every 7-10 days, then when they are all closed wait another 2 weeks to do a new application.

Thank you! This makes sense! Better to proceed slowly than to raise any red flags.

I noticed my CSR has a spend $600 through the travel portal get $100 back. Has anyone found anything of value through this?
Had this pop up on all my Chase cards. I found value in it but may be just my specific use case.
A few weeks ago had a flight booked direct through Alaska for $1000. Last week I saw the same flight dropped to $800, the chase portal had the same price. Cancelled my original booking and credit went into my wallet, which I’m fine with as I will by flying a lot through the rest of the year.
Booked on Chase and got the $100 credit a few days later.
Had I not checked after seeing the chase offer available, I wouldn’t have bothered to look at that booking again, so overall a $300 savings for me.
Also 5% back for booking through portal, so another $40 back in UR points

I figure someone on this board will have some good advice for me, because you all seem like really savvy people.

Does anyone have any tips for finding someone (I guess a financial adviser) who I could actually trust?

I just remembered I have some funds for my kids in Coverdells (which my former financial adviser recommended... not sure she steered me right!) and I can see them but the website (Capital Group) is not super helpful and I'd like to talk to someone who is actually knowledgeable about these uncommon accounts and who (I hope) will give me good advice on what to do with them. My older son probably will never use the money in his and I'd like to transfer it to his younger brother's Coverdell (I should be able to do that, at least) but I'd like advice on whether this is really a good idea.

Barring that, since it was money that I put in to begin with , I'd love to get it back since older son isn't using it! I don't think that is possible, though!

I don’t think we’d do the Churchill war rooms. He’s only 5 and not at all interested in history. I’m gonna be honest, I wouldn’t enjoy it either 😆
The walking tour we did had a great guide and I found it interesting. The War Rooms were ok for about 30 minutes, after that I was looking for somewhere to sit down. DH and DS loved it.

For those of you that have been, what were your favorite things to do in London? Or favorite places to go?

We have a big list of things we’re interested in but I wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything unique or cool.
My favorite unique thing to do is see the Ceremony of the Keys. We were able to snag spots to see it with my niece and decided to book a visit to Tower of London earlier in the day to tie everything together. Bookings open up the first working day of the previous month for the entire following month at 11 am EST IIRC and the tickets go pretty fast. We had a few of our party on different devices and browsers to get tickets. Worth it for the unique experience and only £5 per person

Where did you see it pop up? As you said, it might be something unique to you. I checked my accounts and wasn’t able to find it.

That looks really cool! I think that’s something we’d want to do but probably not until ds is older. He goes to bed at 7 😂

ETA: Actually now that I think about it we may be going to bed late anyway because of the time difference so maybe we will try it. Ds might think it’s really cool.

Not sure I understand AA terminology. Are all AA operated business international seats "flagship"? I'm on an AA operated flight JFK to LHR. I don't see anywhere on the ticket it says Flagship - I used Alaska Miles to book. If I look at the website it says Flagship available on that flight. So am I in Flagship and have access to Admirals Club lounge in JFK?

Hi all, I wanted to just chime in our Italy/Switzerland (with quick stops in Munich and Innsbruck on arrival) trip we just took. I'm terrible about really tracking redemptions, etc., but figured I'd share a few from our trip.

RDU-CDG-MUC on AF. Used pts for Prem Econ on the way over. While it was better than economy, obviously, I'm not sure we slept any more than we would have for economy. I think it was over 30k pts / ticket with ~$200 in fees. Obviously not a great redemption, but I was pretty set on leaving from RDU. At least for the plane we were on, when the person in front reclined you were basically trapped in your seat, lol. Our 2 prior trips over the pond, we were in Aer Lingus biz seats, so this was a little different for sure and much less sleep.

ZRH-CDG-RDU on AF. Economy for about 17k / ticket and ~$200 in fees. I selected aisle seat for both of us and we were lucky to have empty seats next to each of us. Perfectly fine for the return and it's very nice to land at home after the long flight.

Hotel redemptions:
Il Tornabuoni (Hyatt) in Florence. Lovely place, great location, nice to be able to easily pop back in to change for evening or get off our feet for a bit. I think it was 48k per night and I thought worth it!

Hyatt Regency at The Circle Zurich Airport: 23k for the night and very convenient for an early flight the next day. The best shower and shower products and blow dryer of the entire trip, lol.

We used our Amex FHR for a night in Munich on arrival: Bayerischerhof. Lovely place, great location. Too bad it rained the whole time we were there. Got the $200 credit on the prepaid booking, very good (free) breakfast, and $100 credit that we used for some drinks (didn't use the entire amount). As an aside, this was FAR FAR FAR above the FHR redemption we did in Charleston recently. The hotel was fine I guess, but the "breakfast" was awful and the $100 could only be used at the bar because there was not a single other thing to use it on (no restaurant, which probably explains the terrible breakfast).

We used Airbnbs for a few stops, using GCs that we got at office supply stores for 5x Chase Ink points. Also used our VX credit to book a night in Innsbruck at cute little Best Western hotel in Old Town (Goldener Adler I think). Rain here too.

While this wasn't a huge accomplishment travel hacking wise, we easily saved several thousand dollars on our first big trip to Europe (we've only been to Irelandx2 and London prior). Honestly, getting the Florence hotel for $0 as opposed to $800/night alone is pretty great. I'll probably use the travel eraser on my VX to defray a bit of the trip as well.

Any Scandinavian natives / travel pros on here? We’re considering going early March 2026 to see Hans Zimmer Live in Stockholm, plus trying to catch Northern Lights before or after and general cultural experiences. Could fly out of RDU, RIC, or CLT. I have a CSP plus Hilton points but could also apply for a new card for miles or points as most beneficial.
