I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

We're not tied to an airline, only to good deals on points. However, SWA used to always generate good feelings for being so customer-centric. The CP still makes them a good deal a lot of the time, but the good feelings are gone. In practice not a lot is changing for us: I'll still look for the best points deal every time I book flights. But it's sad to no longer be rooting for SWA to end up being the choice, plus needing to navigate the changes.

According to what i read, it's going to be 500$ off the Chase travel portal, we'll see what happens, hopefully, both the 3x to me is the worst thing of it. Personally I think if this is true and it seems like it is, we'll find out before the quarter is over. Maybe I need to call Chase vs a direct message.

this link says both credits.

And that 1.5x is for when you transfer to the pay itself back. It will be 1x like the travel bonus. I do think that we will have a year but this is speculation whole thing seems credible.

on the face of it id probably cancel this card even though I've had it since the beginning, and pick up an amex green I looked through the last few years on my year end statement the vast majority of my spend is travel and its not hotels unless those are hyatt and I use that card.
Yes as stated previously I'm cancelling this card as well.

I also had the card from the beginning and it has been a great card for us.

I'm waiting until the AF posts in January now that it got reset this year to hopefully be able to get the $300 credit and then cancel it.

yep going to wait to see what happens myself but I'm leaning this way as well.

Day 66 and my 330k urs from a canceled cruise were refunded! We hit a snafu because I left my csr at cpk and had to request a new card so they couldn’t add them back yesterday. Now once the card comes I can have them grab my reservation from princess and pay the balance for my Canada/New England cruise this September. Then they owe me another 300k urs for the cruise princess canceled on me. Not holding my breath that I see that anytime soon.

I’m right there with you. They haven’t cut back on flights in my area, but I’ve rarely even thought about flying a different airline because their RR program is so good and I don’t care about assigned seats.

But there are a ton of changes coming and I wonder how long the CP will be around. I think we’ll stick with them until that happens, but we’ve gotten a couple of AA cards and I’ve been using it for dining instead of the CSP.

I’m trying to think positive but won’t shock me if/when we switch over to AA for good.

Agree - we're out of STL and SWA is the dominate airline here. I think I've read that about 60% of the flights from STL are with southwest. It will be interesting to see what happens with them, but I'm sad thinking about learning the other airlines ins and outs! Southwest has always just been so easy!

what would you use for cruises if the 3x is killed? the amex green?

So true, and their app is so much better than other airlines imo. For those of us who constantly look whether prices have dropped and rebook, nobody was easier than SW because you can tap "change" and then choose the same flight and get a refund of points/credits. So easy to check whether a flight has gone down in price and then rebook in the same step. With Delta you have to do a dummy booking to find out, then if the flight went down cancel and rebook. Some other airlines are even worse... Sigh

Similar. I fly out of DCA, to MCO and TPA frequently. SW has been my go-to ( good prices, 3 non-stops a day) but I have been using American somewhat more (also got 2 AA CC with point bonuses). Got a JetBlue card with 80,000 points for 1 purchase last year so that will be an option too.

I have somebody that wanted to sign up for the CSP using my referral code and I googled it and it said that they could still get the hundred thousand bonus points but when they click on it it’s only showing 60,000????

I checked a link I generated two days ago and it's still showing 100K. BUT, a new link I just generated shows 60K. :(

its probably dead early they hit their number, or its a glitch. Looks like the referral link has hit its number not the affiliate one.

My previously generated support link now reverts to 60k.

Rakuten offer is dead (doesn't even display as an option). is down to $25 but still goes to 100k offer. Only found this on desktop. I couldn't pull it up in Rakuten app.

The public offer is still at 100k.

I would not dally if you still haven't apped. I think TPG and DoC are saying 5/15 is the rumored ending date.

ETA: Correction re: Rakuten

On a recent SW flight, early B boarding, I sat with the kids on one side of the aisle and DH sat in the other aisle seat. As the flight starts filling, the flight attendant asks if the seats next to DH are open, to which he says yes. She tells him to put the tray tables down, then she walks away. As passengers are coming down the aisle, they're asking my husband if they can sit in the seats. He's like, I don't know, the FA said to put these down. So now he's stuck on seat management. Well turns out there's a mother and child who need to sit together, so the FA is holding the seats for them. Mother, child and husband arrive and the FA directs the mother and child into the seats next to DH. DH steps out to let them in and the husband steps into my husband's seat. To which DH was like, um no, this is my seat. Random husband "No, my family" And has his foot in the space of my husband's seat, stepping on my husband's bag. The FA tells random husband he has to find another seat. "No, my family." This goes on for a bit and then DH says, I'll just find an open seat. He grabs his bag from under the guy's foot while the FA is still insisting DH keep his seat. DH is like, no, this is silly, I'll just be the bigger person. He gets a seat with a lovely couple in the last row who watched the whole spectacle.

Anyway, FA is super apologetic and insisted on DH's name. He's like, no, I'm fine, that's not necessary. After more insistence, she supplied him with a $100 LUV voucher. That was so generous and very kind of her.

I too think the new changes will take the heart and soul out of SW. But there's still so many good things, like CP, the ability to use RR for any seat, the ease of changing a flight and getting money/points back, and the incredible rebooking flexibility if there's even a minor change to one's flight. Until those things change, and I know they probably will, SW will at least be the airline I look at first when looking at prices.

So now that I have my points back from Chase, Chase has to figure out how to get the cruise reservation from Princess. I swear this is such a painfully slow process (I want the cruise paid in full so I can make a dinner reservation for my mom's birthday). Once this is done I need to figure out how to rebook my 50th birthday cruise which is a whole other hassle in the making. I wonder if this is a sign?

I had Southwest as my chosen airline for incidentals for a couple of credit cards (Platinum and Aspire). I would book a low cost direct flight, cancel it a few days later, and just bank the credit each quarter. But now, if I understand correctly, going forward that credit will have an expiration date on it, right?

Is United the best choice if I just want to be able to bank the credits?

Your husband must be a kind soul! Mine would have done the same. I'm glad the FA rewarded y'all!

And agreed on SWA, good to be reminded of the positives that remain 🙂

Just double dipped again with the Amex Biz Platinum. Offer of $250 back on $2500 in airfare. I used my platinum chosen airline of Delta to book flights for Hawaii and got the 35% rebate but since it charges cash then refunds it triggered the $250 credit.

Now if only there was a way to earn Skymiles on the tickets I bought for those who dont have a Skymiles acct. (my mom)

For us it is. We use all of our airline credits from all cards to fund UTB. The credits are issued with no problem. The UTB funds are good for 5 years. We fund both the P1 and P2 credits to only one UTB account. The tracker shows you what amount of the funds will be expiring and when. See pic below.

We have used them to purchase flights on United to fly to Disneyland, Colorado and Hawaii. We mostly use them to purchase flights to NYC a few times a year to go catch Broadway shows. They are good for flights on United metal only and not partner airlines. I have a mind to let them pile up some more and use the funds for a trip to New Zealand down the line but I tend to use them up pretty quickly. But between 4 Aspires, 2 Ritz cards, and a few Amex Plats they do add up.
