I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Finally thru all the pages. Since we cancelled on our Ireland trip I had 2 FNC go to waste. I contacted both IHG and Hyatt to ask for a ONE DAY extension (as in we were checking in the day it expired) and both said now. I tried a few times (chat and phone). The Hyatt was earned from staying in the various brands. The IHG was from my old biz card. Still stinks! I need to figure out how to use my Cap 1 rewards, etc.

I think I'm just going to try again from a NLL link for the Hilton Honors card. I did at least use my $60 Hilton Biz credit this quarter on Thursday staying in St Louis. But I'd really like the dang GCs to come back!
I was not successful in getting an IHG FNC extension when I asked a few months ago either, (I only wanted a 3 day extension), but they DID give me 30,000 points for the expiring cert, which I then turned around and booked the room I needed. You might have asked for points instead.... not sure if it's too late now since it's expired. I did this like a week or two before mine did.

ETA: I got approved! So between my BF and I, we'll have 4 FNC to burn :)

Since it's not a cc FNC, Hyatt might give you 10k points for it. But no guarantees and you need to ask after it's expired.

PPs have addressed the issue of which credit card is best for a DVC Direct Purchase, assuming by "best" you mean that you want to take a long time to pay it off.

Have you thought about the credit limit?

I don't know if this is your first time purchasing DVC, or if you are adding on. If this is your first time purchasing DVC, and you are purchasing a WDW Home Resort, the smallest this purchase could be is $21,500 + closing costs, for AKV, SSR, or OKW. That's $215 per point with 100 point minimum purchase. If you want to be eligible for Membership Magic perks, you need to buy at least 150 points direct.

I assume you know that https://dvcnews.com/dvc-program-menu/financial/pricing-a-promotions has pricing for DVC direct purchases. If you want to look at DVC resale options for a price comparison, https://www.dvcforless.com/ is a cool website which aggregates the listings from multiple agencies.

Caution: that last one is addictive! When I heard about it recently, I went to the website to check it out, saw the perfect contract, and ended up adding on when I had no intention of doing so.

And if you are already know all of this... Never mind (which apparently was said by Emily Litella not Roseanna Roseannadanna, which was news to me until I googled it to get the spelling).
I have no interest in DVC but thank you for Emily Litella! - I picture her in my head many times while hearing (or saying!) Nevermind but had no recollection of the character name! I just have Gilda freeze framed with the smile afterwards.

I will definetely message both and see. Doesn't hurt. I legit wanted a 1 day extension! I wasn't asking for the world...just 1 day! I was going to use the Hyatt for the Frozen Four and the IHG for San Diego.

ETA: Hyatt gave me 10k. IHG offered me 3k. When I said that doesn't even seem fair, they offered 5k and said that's all they can do based on a "matrix". I just tried emailing them now, so we'll see. The Hyatt FNC would have been used at a Cat 2, for 9k points. So 10k is generous. The IHG was being used at the Intercontinental in Dublin....so 3k is a joke.

Impulsively, I decided to book another trip this year. My latest obsession is Christmas markets. I am planning a 2 week European Christmas markets trip, but that is not until the winter of 2026. I was playing around on the AF site and saw flights out to Paris on Christmas day in business class. Cool, I could knock out a few of them this year on a shorter trip.

I have always wanted to see Paris in the winter. I saw that it was the same cost in miles to Paris as it was to Scotland with a layover in Paris. I decided to test out the stopover option and see if I could get it booked, but stay in Paris for a few nights instead of a few hours and then continue on to Scotland on the same ticket for the same number of miles. It took some trial and error with a couple of phone calls since it cannot be booked online, but I was able to get it booked. One of my bucket list items is going to Hogmany (New Year's Eve celebration) in Scotland.

Now I needed to find a flight back home. After some hunting around I saw some saver fares on AA in lie flats for 57.5k pp out of London so I booked those and cringed over the ridiculous taxes and fees. So now I needed to get to London from Scotland. Easy enough and BA had plenty of flights to choose from.

Once all that was said and done, I needed to find accommodations that worked for my flight schedules. I booked the Hyatt Paris Etoile for 3 nights with no problem. Next was Scotland. Shockingly, I was able to book 3 nights at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa with a castle view room over New Year's eve using Bonblah points. For London, I recalled that a new Park Hyatt has opened up and I booked 3 nights there. I also used a suite upgrade award and we have a Thames river view room. Super excited about this trip!

Sorry for the late reply-I've been in AL helping DM post op (no fun, y'all, just no fun).

Anyway...what is A LOT of fun is Edinburgh in my beloved Sheraton Grand Hotel&Spa in December! We were there a few years ago from Boxing Day to NYE and it was delightful💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

I don't know if they'll still have their Christmas Market but suspect they will...it's lovely! Adding a belated shout out to Strasbourg, Salzburg, Prague, and Somewhere in the Black Forest for my additional Christmas Market adventures ❤️💚🎄. They're sort of like children, I cannot choose a favorite!

It sounds like an amazing trip, I think I can fit in your suitcase 😆

Hope your DM has a fast recovery ❤️‍🩹

I thought if you when I booked it since I know the Edinburgh Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of your favorites. Glad to hear a positive review for the Christmas markets on my list!

Sadly didn't get on our first flight. Decided to try SW instead, which meant swapping terminals. An hour before our flight, SW loads went to crap. So we hopped the shuttle back to try the afternoon Delta flight. We got on!

I quickly booked a hotel ad bought tickets.
I am jealous. I don't know how you do this so patiently -- and at the airport. I am too A type personality, I think, to not have anxiety about the VERY VERY last minute planning here. And I don't even have anxiety.

So excited that this worked out for you!

I am curious to hear how yours turns out. After I added the documents, I called and was told my credit was frozen so they couldn't process (I had thawed my freezes when I applied, but this was weeks later). Then the next day I called in and was told that they had a problem with the documents I submitted online and I needed to go into a branch. I gave up at that point.

Welp, I got a second letter in my account, identical to the one I received on March 26. I called in again, they said they did receive my application but had been denied, no reason, just that I'd need to go into a Chase branch and have a banker review it. Sigh, not gonna happen.

So, now I'm leery of PCing my CSP to a Freedom and reapplying for a CSP in case I am denied that, I just had a hard pull for the Ink card I didn't get. My credit score is over 800, but it seems like Chase is being very picky these days. Sigh, I have a 4K medical bill I need to pay and I need to earn a SUB with it!

I'm not a fan of going into the branch, but you should be able to set up a phone call with a banker at the branch -- would you be able to do that? I did that once when an offer was only available at the branch and it was fine.

I feel silly asking this as I feel like I ALWAYs take advantage of financing at 0%.... but maybe I haven't been.

Realize my Discover IT card was expires and they closed my account so I reapplied so that I can get 5% off gift cards at Sam's Club thru June.

We are also about to purchase more DVC points. So my question. I got approved for Discover IT that offers 0% for 15 months so I have until July 14th 2026. Is that 0% on ALL purchases through 7/14/26 as long as I pay at least the minimum or just my initial purchase? I will use this for my down payments but want to know if I can continue charging it at 0% for 15 months.

I feel stupid because I have had 0% for 20 months with a card before but assumed it was only on my first purchase and I feel like I might have been doing this all wrong all along. Mainly because the CC company wants you to keep changing thinking you have month with no interest in hopes you can't pay it off (this won't be me.. I never miss payments)

Has anyone had issues with Giftcards bought from Pepper? I tried to use a Chipotle and a Village Inn this weekend, and neither would work. Their systems would not accept them.
I have held the Chipotle in case I can get it to work, but the Village Inn still shows invalid on their website. Multiple emails and calls to Pepper, with zero answer. I disputed the $46 with Chase and they instantly refunded the $46!

I would read the terms just to be certain but usually this always means all purchases within the 0% promo period not just the 1st purchase.

Ugh that sucks and a good warning on Pepper. Im glad Chase was able to stand by you and refund.

For those of you who have visited Japan, could you please tell me how you found places to eat while there. Did you make reservations ahead of time for some restaurants? Anything you'd recommend? Looking for Gion area in Kyoto and places in Tokyo not too far from the Toranoman Hills area although I'm open to branching out, too.
