I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

What credit card would be the best to use for a DVC Direct Purchase, I was looking at the Disney Premier Card but that only gets 6 months of 0% interest. The Wells Fargo Card has a 21 month 0% interest offer. Does anyone know any better offers?
If the goal is 0% then the WF card looks like the best bet. However, if the goal is the best points bang for your buck then there are different things to look at. Our last direct purchase was for VGF and DH and I each referred each other to a new CIP which was at a 100k bonus at that time. So we got got 80k for referring each other, 200k for the CIP bonuses, and 3x on our spend for the new contract since it codes as travel.

I think the current bonus for the CIP is 90k but the referrals are now at 20k. The elevated offer for the CSP is 100k but it will net 2x on the purchase which is still not bad. The CIC and CIU are both at 75k but you would also get 0% for 12 months so that may be a best of both worlds if you are comfortable with business cards. Hope this helps :flower3:

Here's an odd IHG FNC scenario - we just got back from spending 4 nights in Panama City using DH's 4 FNCs, each had to be booked separately, these expired May 3. I looked at his IHG account this morning and it still shows one of those FNCs available, in addition to the 1 FNC for his one year anniversary. The one expires May 3, 2025 and the new one May 3, 2026. Is this some kind of glitch? Did the stay 3 nights, get the 4th free somehow work with FNCs? At this point we don't have any use for it prior to the exp date, but if it's legit (which it certainly appears to be), we might take a quick weekend somewhere.
I would say a glitch. I've heard of this happening with Ambassador Weekend certs, that they can remain in the account after use. People have tried to use and then the front desk can't redeem/"grab" the cert at checkout, and they end up paying cash.

Definitely the 3 nt/4th free doesn't apply to FNCs, so it is not that. I think if you have a trip you are planning, it's safe to try to use it. But if you would book something extra and wouldn't want to pay the cash rate, I'd just let it go. That's hard for those of us trying to maximize everything!
That statement closed on 4/28/21, going to be cutting it close! I guess I'll wait until May 1 to downgrade, then another week to reapply. If by some weird chance I'd get a denial, I could upgrade the old card that was downgraded right?
Just sharing that I've downgraded and upgraded the same card, just a few months apart. My DP is from 2021. I've seen other DPs on reddit also confirming this is possible.
Finally paid my tax bill. Hard to let go of that much money, but the points really help soften the blow.
Isn't it funny how that works? One bad year we had a 30k tax bill and this SUB was so helpful in helping us maximize that spend. It somehow didn't hurt at all after that!

My view is, if you can pay it off in 6 months the Disney Premier Visa is the best way to go. 2% cash back AND 6 months (which you can stretch to 8 or 9 months) to pay with no interest.

If you know you're going to need more time, the WF is probably the way to go.
Just so the OP realizes this is not really a cash back card. You can technically treat it that way if you use it for Pay Yourself Back on Disney purchases but it is not something you can deposit in your account like the Freedom Unlimited which would offer 0% for 15 months and 1.5% back in Chase Ultimate Rewards points that can be used for travel, statement credit or withdrawal to a bank account.

PPs have addressed the issue of which credit card is best for a DVC Direct Purchase, assuming by "best" you mean that you want to take a long time to pay it off.

Have you thought about the credit limit?

I don't know if this is your first time purchasing DVC, or if you are adding on. If this is your first time purchasing DVC, and you are purchasing a WDW Home Resort, the smallest this purchase could be is $21,500 + closing costs, for AKV, SSR, or OKW. That's $215 per point with 100 point minimum purchase. If you want to be eligible for Membership Magic perks, you need to buy at least 150 points direct.

I assume you know that https://dvcnews.com/dvc-program-menu/financial/pricing-a-promotions has pricing for DVC direct purchases. If you want to look at DVC resale options for a price comparison, https://www.dvcforless.com/ is a cool website which aggregates the listings from multiple agencies.

Caution: that last one is addictive! When I heard about it recently, I went to the website to check it out, saw the perfect contract, and ended up adding on when I had no intention of doing so.

And if you are already know all of this... Never mind (which apparently was said by Emily Litella not Roseanna Roseannadanna, which was news to me until I googled it to get the spelling).

We own at AKV & VGF, but might add on this summer....... depends on the post vacation blues after our April vacation. Not sure if we will go direct or the resale route.

If resale let you put the whole purchase in a credit card I’d be even more in trouble
For a DVC resale purchase where https://www.masontitle.com/ is handling it:
For the first $7,500 that you charge to your credit card: no fee.
3% service fee on any amount that you charge over $7,500.

If it's a small enough contract, it might make sense to charge to your credit card and take the service fee.

I assume the bank would charge a fee to get a bank check or a fee to do a wire transfer.
If you wanted to get a bank check and send it by certified mail or overnight mail, there would be a postage cost as well.

If it's a big contract: I guess that depends on how you feel about taking the service fee.

I don't know what other title companies have as their policies about credit card service fees for DVC resale purchases.

My HUCA story: Today I called to PC my CSR to a CF. I wanted the OG CF card. First rep - static and I could not hear them so HUCA. Second rep - said that OG CF is not available to PC to. Either CFU or the Mastercard Freedom Flex. HUCA. Third rep - said my options were CFU or Freedom with URs (which turned out to be the OG CF). I guess 3rd time was the charm. Now wait 4 days to apply for CSP.

I have 16 more pages to read. But I thought I'd do a quick post first. My beloved Wolverines didn't make it to the Frozen Four Tourney this year, but my son's dream hockey school, Western Michigan did. So Thursday we headed out on a non-rev adventure. Sadly didn't get on our first flight. Decided to try SW instead, which meant swapping terminals. An hour before our flight, SW loads went to crap. So we hopped the shuttle back to try the afternoon Delta flight. We got on!

I quickly booked a hotel ad bought tickets. We spent the evening on the glass right on the blue line across from the WMU bench. You could see the back of our heads all game. WMU won, and we seriously thought about going back for the game Saturday. But our flight Friday morning went from 37 open seats at 11pm to -1 at 4am! So we were not about to try the flights home on Sunday (which were oversold). But during the WMU game we could have gotten basically the same seats for $125/ea. That's insane. I got ours for Thursday night for $75/ea.

I also spent today applying for the CSP for my DD! I wasn't sure she'd get approved, but she did. I'll be the one hitting the spend for her as I have a lot of medical bills to pay! Ekkk!

Okay back to 15 pages of reading.
I haven't specifically cancelled a reservation where I already received a Delta Stays credit, but in the past when a Delta airline credit posted and I later cancelled the flight, there was no clawback (nor reinstatement of my $200 airline credit). You could periodically check your benefits tracker tab and if the DS credit doesn't "refresh" to be reused, then you're probably safe from a clawback too.
It was a 2024 credit I prepaid for. I guess I'll just watch and see.

Looking for a new carry-on. I want to learn how to pack for 7-10 days without checking a luggage. I prefer hard-sided. Show me carry-ons you love.
I opted for the Sam's Club "knock off" of the away bag. So far, so good!

Not directly CC related, but it is related to travel and I will earn CC rewards with the purchase:

I want to look into getting an ipad for travel. I would like it to replace my laptop so I don't have to lug the lap top around.
I think the pro would do what I need, but with the keyboard, it would be almost like bringing my laptop. And it is costly.
Does anyone use an ipad mini with keyboard as a laptop replacement? I don't need it for work-related tasks. Just checking email, online cc and bank accounts, checking in on here, and other personal tasks that I don't want to use my phone for.
I have the bigger pro and the Magic Keyboard and it's my go to for travel unless I do need my MacBook.

Finally thru all the pages. Since we cancelled on our Ireland trip I had 2 FNC go to waste. I contacted both IHG and Hyatt to ask for a ONE DAY extension (as in we were checking in the day it expired) and both said now. I tried a few times (chat and phone). The Hyatt was earned from staying in the various brands. The IHG was from my old biz card. Still stinks! I need to figure out how to use my Cap 1 rewards, etc.

I think I'm just going to try again from a NLL link for the Hilton Honors card. I did at least use my $60 Hilton Biz credit this quarter on Thursday staying in St Louis. But I'd really like the dang GCs to come back!

ETA: I got approved! So between my BF and I, we'll have 4 FNC to burn :)

Well, I tried 3 different chats, each about a week apart and did not get a retention offer on my Amex Plat. Sigh, I'm keeping it I guess, I do use the lounge access quite a bit. I've used the FHR credit every year too, but it's a struggle sometimes and I wouldn't miss that credit if I got rid of the card.
