Yesterday I said goodbye to my almost 18-year old dog. She took care of me throughout my 30s and most of my 40s. She was by my side through a difficult divorce and more recently my dad's passing. Until the last few days, she made me laugh everyday. I miss her terribly and don't know what to do without her. When I'm feeling better, though, I'll start planning a trip to Japan for May with DS (I haven't been apart from her for the last year or so because of her health).

I haven't been on here in a while and I missed this due to traveling for both personal and then work. I am SO sorry. I am crying with you. I know that you posted this on the 16th, but I know that you're still devastated.
While we were traveling on the 22nd of Nov. (second to last day of our trip) our 12 year old GSD passed away unexpectedly. She makes the third pet that we have lost this year. I'm just hearbroken ... as I know that you still are. Hugs from Houston. Continued hugs until they're not needed any longer...
Anyone here been to either Panama and/or Colombia? We are planning a Panama trip in March and might add a few nights in Cartagena as well if it's worth it.
I've been to Colombia (circa 2011) -- Cali, Bogota and Cartagena. Cartagena is beautiful. I'd stay two nights max there.

Normally how long does it take to get credits for Southwest upgraded boardings? I need to cancel DW's Southwest Priority card by the end of December since the AF hit on December 1st. We have a flight on Christmas Day. If I'm able to get us upgraded on December 24th would I see the credit in time to cancel the card? I would be canceling via SM. If I had to I could call and get her to tell them to talk to me but she doesn't like doing that so SM is the preferred method of communication for her cards.
For me the credit hits the same day the charge for the upgraded boarding posts

The credits show up pretty quickly in my experience. A few days usually.

So sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine losing a pet while traveling. Sending all the hugs xxx

Thank you so very much. In July I lost my 16 year old cat some time in the overnight while we were flying home from Rome ... I was devastated. And now our sweet GSD while we were on a cruise. We love to trave,l and this has really put a sting on my love of adventure.

It's my worst fear actually, and I just can't even imagine how much more difficult it has to make the loss. I'm sure it sours the adventurous spirit a bit, too, which is really sad... if you're anything like me, my greatest two loves are my dogs and our travels. Sending all the love and strength your way to get through this loss ❤️ and I hope you can get back to your love of adventure in time 🫶

Has anyone tried using these links? When I tried to use it, it automatically fills in the last name and Delta # with someone else's info. The box is grayed out and doesn't let me edit with my info.
I thought it might be links others could use, but if its personalized, then I guess not.

Oh, I'm so very sorry for your loss. And three in one year--I cannot imagine. I am still devastated but I think I'm through the worst of it. And sending hugs back your way from Richmond.

Data Point - Have the BOA Premium Rewards Elite Card. Which comes with $300 in Incidental Airline Fees each calendar year. So, trying to figure out how to use these. All our trips coming up already have free luggage or already paid for luggage. Don't fly AA so the travel bank really wouldn't do much good. Kept checking some upcoming flights for upgrades - finally got one that worked.

DD and I are flying to Disney this Saturday to Tuesday on Delta. The flight home I was able to upgrade us to 1st Class for $138 per person. Then DD used an extra bag fee for her trip home today from Vancouver, seeing Taylor Swift. BOA already credited the 2- $138 Credits - just upgraded on 12/3 and credited 12/7. Just glad able to use the credit.

Going to use the $150 Lifestyle credit for Uber/Lyft to and from the Airport to Hotel. If anything left then will use it on Door Dash.

DD made good use of the Priority Pass benefit I was able to give her with this card. Had a few delayed flights and her and her friends were able to use some lounges.

This might be a keeper card for me.
I didn't know AA had a travel bank. But if you fly United, they have a travel bank too. All of our trips also have free luggage included. I use the airline incidental fee to fund United Travel Bank with our Amex Plat cards and Hilton Aspire cards. The funds are good for 5 years from when they are deposited. I let them build up and then will purchase flights with the funds from time to time.

Got up at 4am this morning for my 7am flight to JFK. Sailed through security and customs and waited in the AA lounge for a bit before heading to the gate. Apparently our plane had a ‘small’ maintenance issue and we would be delayed for 5-10 mins. Fast forward an hour and our flight is cancelled. Everyone was instructed to head to the AA CS counter to get re-booked. On my way there I called CS and was re-booked on the 10:30 flight within 5 mins and headed back up to the lounge. This is exactly the reason why I like to fly to a stopover airport several hours (in some cases 24 hours) before an international flight. There were so many people that had connections that were in a panic because they had to find 2 new flights. Oh also another reason why I don’t check luggage anymore because who knows when those that did will be reunited with theirs?

Speaking of luggage, the guy that I sat beside at the gate was muttering to himself “this is not good” over and over. He went up to the gate agent (GA) and asked to have his carry-on returned to him (he gate-checked it); the GA said no and they went back and forth for several mins before he sat down beside me again. This happened another 3 times before the man told the GA that his passport was in his carry-on (who does that?); the GA said they’d retrieve his carry-on. Within 10 mins his carry-on was brought to him (with GA standing over him watching him) and he rummaged through it and got his passport, then closed it up and thanked them. Except they insisted that they had to take it back to the plane because there wouldn’t be room in the overhead bin once his boarding group was called (I wanted to ask why he couldn’t put it under the seat in front of him but kept my mouth closed). He argued some more and they took his bag away. He was told that he would be able to pick it up at Haneda. Unbelievably he went to the GA again and asked for his carry-on and he was told ‘no’ and to sit down and he argued some more. At this point the GA said if he didn’t sit down then he would be escorted out of the airport (frankly I’m surprised they hadn’t called security yet). He finally sat down but was still muttering to himself. What a bizarre situation.

Hopefully the 10:30am flight gets off the ground safely.

Plans for NYC: head to Saks to purchase $50 GC (AmEx plat credit), then order pickup on UberEats to make use of $35 AmEx credit. Also see the tree at Rockefeller Ctr and visit the Christmas market at Bryant Park.

What's the worst that can happen? I've got a SW Priority card with a $32k limit that I opened in 12/17. I NEVER use it anymore. I never fly SW anymore since they made a bunch of nonstop flights into one stop flights between IAH and just about everywhere that I wanna go. My annual fee just hit -- $149! I'd like to close it. Tell me -- what's the worst that can happen (my 830 credit score goes down for a minute?) ...???

Since they don't have trackers like Chase, how do you verify and/or track your MSRs with Amex? I have a Surpass with a 6 month MSR period that I have been slow rolling so I can have the longest amount of time to use my FNC. But I'd really like to know the exact MSR date so I don't miss it.
Try chatting Amex while logged into your account. I also got the Surpass with 6mo MSR and found that the FNC and 130k points didn’t post until 5 days after I met the MSR. Actually the FNC (12 mo expiry) posted first and the next day the points showed up.

Heading to JFK you say? This guy will NOT be the strangest thing you see today😂

Had to laugh at this part because I have a child who would definitely do this—not the arguing part, she is exceedingly polite, but her passport has been left or misplaced more places than I can recall. Somehow she has managed to not be stranded in a foreign country or visiting the local consulate. We say that she is cursed by good luck.

Yeah. I meant United Travel Bank. Don't really fly them either. But may be an option for when I can't figure something out.
