I’d make her an AU on one of your cards to build her credit. Did this with DS and he left college with a CS in the 800s.

This is what we did with both kids. They were AU's on our cards at a young age. Now they have some of their own cards and they both have credit over 800. So it pays to start their credit early.

Interesting...at what age would you start thinking about this for your kids just to help them build a credit history? For example, my kids are 2, 7, and soon-to-be 11. Any downside to making them an AU and sock-drawering the card? Clearly, they have no use for a credit card at these ages! Looks like in addition to Chase which has no age minimum, I could also potentially add them as AUs to my Citi card (my oldest CC account if that matters for AUs added much, much later).

I seem to recall someone posted a few pages back that they had the same issue and called Away to be told that they had discontinued the adapters.

Edit: Found it - Post #992
Thanks! I recalled the dust cover talk (which also weren't included) but not the adapters. I sent a DM via twitter and received the same reply @FreeDiningFanatic probably received. No worries. I am excited to try them out over President's Day Weekend.

The transfer bonus is in Amex's transfer to travel partners section of their website. Amex provides the bonus. For example, right now there is a 20% transfer bonus for Aeromexico:

You can monitor for bonuses a few ways.
1. I'll do a quick google "Amex transfer bonus" search a couple times a month, and a couple of the points blogs keep a running list of any active transfer bonuses.
2. Log into Amex and go to the transfer page and see if there are any offers

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Does anyone with the venture x know if you can book Disney or universal studios hotels through the capital one portal? Thanks

For those that use VGC at Costco, have you done any returns lately? My last 2 returns went back to the card used, which was not a VGC thankfully. Last night, I didn't have my receipt and wasn't sure if I had used VGC, I asked for a gift card before she completed the return and while she said okay, she then said "sorry, it didn't let me". I'd prefer not to have returns go back to a VGC so I'm not sure what to do here. Previously they would prompt for my card, but now it seems to be all automatic.

I don't do a lot of returns, but I do buy clothing there and there's always a chance it won't fit or, like last night's return, the stitching comes undone. I do hold on to VGCs for a bit, but it'd be a pain to sift through and find the right card and then monitor it for the return. Trying to decide my strategy going forward.

They usually put returns on my Costco visa no matter which card I use. Any clothing I buy is usually online and I often have returns as I make sure I buy multiples of 5 for the extra discount, and will buy two sizes to try to get what fits. Once in a while I'll get something in the actual store for the girls.

You can buy a shop card with a visa gift card. I did it at Xmas as gifts for some that preferred it. I don't know if they are reloadable, but if they are it might be a way for you to keep track of a particular card. I have hundreds of empty visa and disney cards, but very few shop cards.

Yes, they are. I just did a quick check for random dates and saw AOA, POR, Swan and others (and I didn’t go all the way through the list). Are you looking to pay cash (and get the 10x for booking a hotel through the portal and/or use the travel credit) or use points? I ask because if you’re using points, you might as well book direct with Disney, and then use your points to purchase erase - either one is 1 point per cent. Hope that helps!

My Dad put me on as an AU on his AMEX card when I was about 17 yo, in the 80's. He still has that account open and I am still an AU. ALL of my AMEX cards including ones in my own name have member since 71 on the front. I was probably not even walking in 1971 yet. :rolleyes1

So, because my parents put me on as an AU on their card, my credit history started almost when I was born...

I just received a large legal bill that needs to be paid within 30 days. Their PREFERRED method of payment is by credit card.
Cha Ching!!!

It is large enough to fulfill the Chase biz MSR in one shot. Unfortunately, it will be the first of several bills. The legal fees are actual business expenses. So, I need a new biz card (or 2) ASAP.

I forget how to generate a biz support link. I've done it before but can't find it again. (Maybe instructions to do so would be a good item to add to the information posts on page 1.)

Also, I plan on applying through businesses with separate EIN and not as a sole proprietorship. I will most likely have to call in to verify my ID before any approvals since I have fraud alerts (not credit freezes) on my credit reports. So, no instant approvals for me. It's held up approvals before even on biz cards that use EIN and not my SS, because as the principal applying, they still need my SS.

So, here's my question, which biz card to get and should I lower the CL now or when I call the recon line (since I have to call in no matter what.)

Biz #1 - has CIU with $15k CL
Biz #2 - has CIU with $45K CL

Thinking of applying through Biz #2 for a CIC? And asking recon to move $20K of CL over. Or should I lower it now?

Do I need to wait 30 days to apply through Biz #1? 2 separate businesses with 2 different EINs. Our business banker applied for both of them simultaneously for us in either 2018 or 2019.

Has anyone figured out how to get instant approvals when they have a fraud alert on file? I'm guessing not because that would defeat the purpose of the alert. Lol.

Any advice? Thanks.

ETA: Maybe I should go for the CIP since I could probably complete the $15k MSR in 3 months with the legal fees? But it seems 150k URs on 2 SUB seems better than 100k URs on 1 SUB. Assuming I get approved for 2 cards, of course.

I found how to generate a support link! Man they make it hard to find sometimes. But please help with my other questions if you can. Thanks!

You can convert the $3000 to 300k miles if you were interested in that offer.

Don't know if I could do that now with a brand new United biz coming today that requires a $20,000 spend. If it's still around in a month or two, I may consider the Cap One Biz Spark cash offer. I still need to cancel my Cap One business card. in Feb when the AF comes due. I was able to get it waived last year. I waited to get another Cap One card (the Venture X) to transfer the points.

I don’t have a fraud alert on file…but as you said I’m think it’s not possible to get an instant approval.

Chase has the 1/30 business card rule so even though it’s two separate businesses, if you are applying for both with your SS number the second would probably be denied.

saw you found how to generate a support link….I’m going to assume you generated it from P2s business card for you to apply or the reverse….Chase does not allow self support

Is there something big happening at Disney the first weekend in December? Why are the Swan, Dolphin and Reserve sold out for that weekend?

Correct about having P2 generate the support. Will wait 30 days for the 2nd card, just in case even through they will be opened under 2 separate EINs and not my SS. But they will still need my SS as principal.

Unless someone else knows for sure it is acceptable. Like I mentioned, both previous cards were applied for and opened simultaneously by the Chase business banker and not rejected. But I will probably play it safe to avoid any headaches.

Since you’d have to wait the 30 days anyway after the 1st application….as long as a second credit check wouldn’t bother you….maybe give it a try

Is that Pop Warner weekend? It's been a while but I seem to recall that being around that time of year.

As long as your velocity is okay, I would do 2 biz apps (spaced appropriately). You'll get additional support points doing it that way:

CIU
support 20k?
SUB 75k
1.5x earninging 11,250
----------------
106,250

Plus, there's no AF.

Interesting! I forgot about the 1.5x.

Well, I applied for 1 CIC for biz #2 already because it had a CIU already. As expected, the application went pending. Next month, will apply for biz #2 to get the 1.5x factor. I'm guessing it is okay to have 2 CIU for the same business?

Thanks for opening my eyes to another possibility.

Just wanted to share my DP - my Hilton Biz AmEx card's annual fee was posted 1/13/22 and was auto paid on 1/31/22. I hadn't been paying enough attention, so I hadn't asked about a retention offer before the fee posted, but I chatted with them and ended up getting $225 offer, which I thought was great. The annual fee is only $95, so they are basically paying me $130 to keep the card for a year.
That's great. I'm jealous. I ended up cancelling mine because they offered no retention.

Y'all inspired me to finally start using my credit cards correctly and I want to say "thank you."

I've eliminated 8 accounts on which I carried a balance since last December.

I've prioritized using the ones where they pay ME money to use them.

This is serious fun. Like, really really fun.
