Thank you all for answering my Chase questions....It sounds like my strategy might be to go from the CSR to a freedom (I have the OG freedom right now). Then to go for the CSP. Do you know if I can have the CSP and then upgrade back to the CSR ? I'm just thinking if I use my URs for Ireland that's in March of 2023, so I might want to be able to start redeeming in March of 20222 and so I'd want to be back in the CSR by then for the best redemptions. If you can't upgrade while holding the CSP, does Chase frown on opening a CSP, hitting the spend, rocking it for 6 mos, closing it (or PCing it to a freedom) then upgrading the older freedom (that I would get from the PC now) to a CSR? Is your head spinning like mine? I don't "need" a CSR again until probably March of 2022. So I don't want to mess this up.
Okay one more thought (thanks to the messages below). If I just say screw it and go for the CSR vs the CSP.....how long do I have to have my current CSR closed? I got it in 10/16. So I'm beyond the 48 months. Also where would I transfer my URs? To my freedom? Or CIC?
If the CSR is your preference I would apply for that first, it still has an elevated SUB of 60K URs. Then apply for the CSP.
Because if you do it the other way and don’t get approved for the CSR you won’t be able to upgrade for a year.
I can't pull off the MDD. I guess I didn't think about just saying screw it all, and getting the 60K for the CSR, LOL. Then I'd still have the CSR when I want/need it in 3/2022. I guess my fear in closing my current CSR and trying for a new one is that they gave me a retention offer this year, and the $450 AF. I don't wanna get hit with the $550 AF if a less AF is a possibility. But you gave me something to think about.
I talked myself out of the MDD and just got the CSP. The MDD would have put me at 5/24 and the CSP bonus is great. I would PC the CSR if I was in your shoes.
If I had $8k in spend, I'd totally try for the MDD. I'm at 3/24 or 2/24 right now. But I don't have $8k in spend coming up. I guess I could see if the BF has any big spends he can think about coming up. My taxes aren't until Sept and the Dec and those are only $4k. So that would knock out 1 MSR, but not in the time frame I need.
You can't PC the new CSP until a year later. But the old CSR that you PC to say CFU, I think you can PC that back to a CSR if you wanted to. Or if you have any other old Freedom card, you could PC that. AF would go up to $550. PC doesn't lock you out of the SUB like Amex.
Do you know can I hold a CSP and PC a freedom to a CSR? Or do I have to have the CSP closed too....see dilemma above.
Do you have any other Chase personal cards? You could downgrade the CSR, apply for CSP and then PC a CF/CFF/CFU back to CSR. To PC back to a CSR, you would need 10K CL.
I have the OG Freedom (I PCd a Slate to that when I was blocked out thanks to 5/24). I have both IHG cards, Bonvoy and a CIC (PCd from a CIP this year). I think the current CL on my CSR is like $25k. So I don't think $10k would be a problem, LOL.
First time ever I got the
Amazon deal for X% off when paying with MR. Used the link from DOC to activate it and got 50% off up to $60 value if using MR, so used MR for $1 of the transaction and got $100 Lowe’s giftcard for $49 plus small number of MRs. Should’ve taken my time to find something that cost $120 to max the value but just went for something easy. Does anyone know if I can still get 50% off another item for up to $10 back to get the full $60?
Yes, I've been able to get this in the past. I had NO CLUE it worked on giftcards! I have always struggled to find items that are "sold and shipped" by Amazon. This is good to know as I got the 40% offer. But yesterday I got a $10 offer for making Amex my default purchase. So when I went to buy something last night it used that coupon.
