Yep, you can totally breastfeed without one! Totally a convenience item. But when you are exhausted and struggling as a new breastfeeding mom, those convenience items become life savers. Everyone gets to decide what they want to use and what works for them. For some, breastfeeding is extremely easy, others not so much. Anything to make the journey a little easier will sometimes make a difference in a struggling breastfeeding mom successfully making it through breastfeeding and not throwing in the towel.
