It looks like the RAT has been busy in Canada. Details posted on dischurners. Speculation provided on reason for complete shut-downs.
I’m horrible at reddit and can’t find it anywhere
I am seriously terrible with Reddit. It's under "What card should I get next".

I am shocked by this development as this company has always been very lenient in Canada, now they are shutting people down at an alarming rate.

Well it looks like I am going to have to wait for a paper stimulus check from the treasury dept, but I got an email from Allstate that they are direct depositing my April shelter-in-place discount, a whole $11.54!

Windows - we have casement windows, some 30" wide and 2 stories above the driveway. I have someone come to do the outside windows 4 times a year. He is very reasonable and worth it!
Got this message from Allstate today too. Said they sent the payback. But I can't figure out where they sent it! I have a direct deposit bank account on file, but used a credit card on last payment. I didn't get the payback to either. Things that make you go hmmm...

I can now report that all SWA travel funds for all of my family members have been updated/extended in SWA's system and all expire on 9/7/2022. DD and I each have close to $1k in travel funds, but hopefully we'll be able to use them over the next 2.5 years. I will certainly use mine. DD will be a little tougher since she will be at university in Scotland, but with that amount of time, hopefully we can use a good chunk for positioning flights on summer trips in 2021 and 2022 when she will be joining us since we often need to do short positioning flights to a gateway city. Really happy I don't have to call SWA about my funds that expired on 4/1 that were missing a couple of days ago. They are now there with the new expiration date. :)

ETA: Still waiting for the new expiration date on DH's CP....

I’m with you. I have a couple of refunds that I was told to be looking for, nothing I’m particularly worried about, but still I’m like “where exactly should I be looking” some are refunding direct to credit card, but some are Venmo, or even check 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ha! I just came on to report my travel funds have been extended to 9/22 as well. Happy to see that! I also have started getting LUV vouchers for EBCI. Those however expire one year from issue date. A couple of mine will expire in April 2021, the others I will request maybe this summer to extend the expiration date 👍🏻

I, like many of you, am looking into options for fun domestic trips. This is partially due to COVID-19, but mainly due to the fact that DH and I are currently wrapping up our adoption approval process! We're set to be officially approved in May. Our South America trip (which was cancelled due to COVID) was going to be our last international hurrah for the foreseeable future, as we won't be able to travel internationally with the baby until after finalization (likely 1-2 years). With that said, here are some of the top options we've been considering:

1) National Park camping trips (we do these fairly often as is)
2) AMTRAK train trips - we've not done these but have heard good things
3) Mississippi river cruise - seems awesome but VERY expensive...
4) Hawaii
5) Alaska RV adventure
6) WDW (of course!)

The biggest problem with planning domestic trips is that I've struggled to figure out how to maximize my points/churning game. Does anybody have examples of awesome churning-enable domestic trips? I really do like the idea of some type of US River trip, i'll have to look into whether I can somehow do that with points.

My son is looking to buy Airpods Pro and I'm trying to help him find the best deal. The best deal I can find is Verizon $225. I think if I go through Rakuten, I should get 6.5% back for accessories (actually MR). Do I need to pay for them with my Amex? Or, will paying with the CIC on Verizon trigger the 5% for wireless? that would be the best $225 - $14.6 plus 1,125 UR points. I so rarely buy anything expensive like this, I'm trying to think like the pros :)

Do you have the 20% off Amazon MR points offer?

I only ever use my checking account so it will go there for us, but it is not showing up as pending yet. They give me money back every 6 months we don't have a reportable accident and that is where they send it. The email does say "Allstate automatically deposited money back to the bank or credit card account used for your most recent payment, applied a credit to your policy or issued a check, based on your most recent payment preference." so it will show up somewhere eventually! Good luck.

Check "what card should I get next".
I see it now. I swear I looked earlier under every topic and didn’t see it.

It’s in the what card should I get next thread. And you’re too young to be horrible at Reddit.
Lol I hardly use any social media stuff and never used reddit before this group

It took two SMs to close my Chase card. First SM was on the 12th. Never responded. Sent second SM today at 10:41 and at 12:30 they responded and closed and will refund AF. AF posted but stmt hasn't closed yet so I had plenty of time.
I plan to close my CIP when the annual fee hits on 5/1. My statement closes on the 5th, but I think as long as it gets refunded before the payment date it should be OK. I had considered whether I should send the SM a few days before 5/1, but it sounds like they did respond to you quickly today so I may be fine waiting.

For those refi-ing. Are you holding off on new cards (especially biz) for the credit pull or the new account? I was thinking the biz cards would not show up on my credit report and not be a problem for a home loan. We are looking for property to buy to build our retirement house. Wondering if the biz cards will show up and be counted as revolving debt when we go to get a loan.

We just closed on Refi on April 3rd. Went through Rocket Mortgage. Everything was done online. They sent a notary to the house and the closing was all done on an ipad. I didn't even think about it and opened a CIP the end of March. They didn't even question it. We ended up getting 2.99% on 10 year mortgage. Probably lower now - but I started the process when rates started going down.
