We're around $2.19 for regular in Central VA. We have relatively cheap gas. I'm always shocked when I visit my parents in SW Florida or Northern Michigan that their gas is $0.40/galllon or so more. But not CA prices.

On my trips, my go to stop is Ashburn, Virginia. I can almost always count on the least expensive gas there. I think I paid 2.08 or something close back in November.

Also, on one trip I drove about 3 or 4 miles out of my way down south of Richmond and found gas 35 cents cheaper than the near the interstate prices. At 20 plus gallons, it was worth the 10 minute detour, although I rarely do that kind of thing. I think I found it at a Wawa or a Sheetz.

I have been perpetually behind here for the past 3-4 weeks. Trying to catch up.. .

New job has been great. Holiday stuff pretty much in hand. But my Grandma, who I have always been particularly close, passed last weekend. I am glad I visited 2 weeks ago and spent time with her while she was still lucid. Her funeral was yesterday and we are spending a week in my hometown for Christmas. It's been heartwrenching to say goodbye to the family traditions as we know them. She really was the glue... This time with my family has been very special though. Watched the Bills game together today. It's been decades since we we've all been together for a game (like we were every game as kids). Going skiing with all brother/cousins and our kids tomorrow. Made dozens of cookies today and trying to keep Grandma's traditions alive for one last holiday together in her home.

I definitely want to look at my upcoming SW flights, thanks for that update @SouthFayetteFan
I'm sorry for your loss.

Any bonvoy brilliant retention offers? Trying to get DH to call. We will probably keep the card since he wants the automatic gold status. Figure the free night is equal to at least $150 which will cover the fee.

I didn't even try for one. I'll definitely keep the card. Maybe next year if I'm successful with my gold card. This year I had already earmarked my spend for my Hyatt card to try and pump up those points, plus I had a 5x incentive.

Recent post over in the gift card deals thread from user LAX:

For those of you that used Chase offer on BJs.com and had your charge split up, I can report that my account was eventually credited after I submitted a screenshot of my order showing that it was one order over $150. I doubt it would have credited without getting a human involved.

Can we talk about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker?!

I didn’t hate it. There are parts I even really liked.

What I liked most about The Rise of Skywalker was how it rendered The Last Jedi completely inconsequential. Quite literally, you can forget The Last Jedi ever happened and you’ll have missed nothing important to the story.

Oh man.... I hated it :rotfl2:

Went to Urgent Care today. Had to wait 2 hours. Yet another ear ache. Tons of fluid backed up in each ear. I'm a toddler trapped in a 40 year olds body!

DH had major fluid buildup in his ear the other week from flying. We also joked he was a toddler and we were going to get tubes put in his ears.

Yeah, I was going to say that used to be C1's reputation and that's how they got into the business. But I really don't think they are like that these days. I live somewhere where every other friend of my kids has a parent working at Capital One.

Soooo many women have left practice in my area to go work for Capital One legal. I can think of four off the top of my head who have left my office or private practice in the last two years to go there. We always joke that a requirement of going to work for their legal team is that you must be pregnant or get pregnant within 6 months. Can't beat that maternity leave.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Hard anytime but I’m sure it’s more difficult this time of year.
