I’ve been watching flights for a little while now and trying to gather some kind of plan for our London/Scotland trip. We have so long until the actual trip (2021) but I wanted to start looking anyway and wanted to get some thoughts from you guys.

Right now I’m thinking flying Virgin in premium economy would be best, but it looks nearly impossible to do out of Orlando. I’ve been super unsuccessful finding flights from May-November of next year. It seems like this would just be a huge pain in the butt. They have cash flights through the chase portal but that’s not the best use of our points. We could always do a positioning flight but with a 1 year old I’m not sure if I want to do that or not.

Another option I found for transferring chase points would be to Singapore. The problem with Singapore is we would have to go out of Houston but their business class product looks pretty nice. If we went this route we would do 2 business class seats with the baby as a lap infant. I know that will cost a pretty penny to do so I’m not sure if this is the best option either.

I’m kind of feeling a little lost trying to find the best option to get the most out of our points

Anyone have issues with UPS SurePost? It's where the package is shipped UPS and they deliver it to your local postal facility and your carrier or other USPS person actually delivers it.

I ordered skincare items from my usual company (Paula's Choice) and it was supposed to be here this week. Monday night I receive an update saying there was an exception. I log on to track and it says they attempted delivery at 6pm and left a note with instructions. Well we were home at 6 and have cameras on mailbox and front door. There was no activity at either.

UPS can't help because they no longer have it. USPS is frustrating because they don't recognize UPS tracking number (all I have) and I don't have the magical number that was apparently left with the mysterious note. If I wanted to talk to a person the hold time was 1 hr 25 minutes. No thanks.

So I called the company I bought from and they are so awesome and immediately sent a replacement no questions asked with 2 day FedEx to avoid any further issues.

I did log an incident on USPS website but I'm not expecting much. They told me if original package shows up just to keep it.

On a positive note all of my DGC from BJ's finally arrived after their cross state adventure.
I was waiting to see if anyone responded... I have terrible luck with USPS and UPS SurePost. I have UPS My Choice Premium which I have set to auto-upgrade all UPS SurePost to UPS ground for free. It has saved me a ton of frustration. I was using free 3-month promos for the longest time, but that seemed to dry up. I found a way to get the whole year for $20 rather than $40 and did that. $1.67 a month to save my sanity was worth it 🤣

Would you consider flying out of Miami? I see more availability in PE on that route.

I often find that using UR's for virgin PE can be a decent option. Taxes/fees on a PE award to London can easily run $800 - whereas a cash fare in the region of $1500 is $1000 in UR's and you earn Virgin miles for the flight.

With my last post in mind...I will revisit a separate topic... if you are self-supporting with Chase you might be playing with fire. It just doesn't seem to be worth the risk! I know it's only available on a handful of cards anyways... just know the risks if you decide to do it! This game can and will change on a dime! Things that seemed unfathomable are now reality with certain issuers.
I self-supported with Chase 1x and it still haunts me 😱

Wanna share how you got MyChoice premium for $20/year? That said, I have used a number of the 3 or 6 month promos and still find that my auto-upgraded package got delivered to USPS about 50% of the time.

Dh is someone who never buys merch for himself. He decided he loved the chip and dale passholder shirt at Epcot. Of course they’re sold out but I can buy it on eBay for $62.50 😡😡
Chip and Dale are so dang cute! I almost bought a set of nutcrackers at WL that would have been like $160 after the AP discount. I decided the holiday plush set was enough to get me by 🤣

After being so busy and then out of town I finally used my 20% off coupon at Target today. Nothing terribly exciting but a ton of groceries and stocking up. I saved $114. Focus on that and not how much I spent. :)

I am now at $1525 for the Discover this quarter...so back to the drawer.

I am glad Amazon had the extra MR offer this month. Sadly I am now close to meeting that too. December is just so expensive!
I am the WORST Target shopper ever. I let one go to waste because I thought I had another day. Disney trips really throw me off!!! I think I still cram too much into one day 🤣

Hey guys I’m back and starting to recover from our wedding trip. We were going November 30th- December 7th. I was sick the entire time, but I had so much fun.

So here’s my wedding trip report.

November 30th
We had an early flight and landed at MCO at around 9:30. We had lunch at 50s Prime Time cafe with my siblings and dad. We did some rides at Hollywood studios together and DH and I then went off on our own.

December 1st
Everyone started to arrive this day. We all met at Whispering Canyon Cafe for lunch. I think we had 30 people. We then took the boat to Mickeys very merry. Wrangling 30 people around the MK was awful. I also started getting sick at this point. Most of my family left before fireworks so we had a manageable 6 people for fireworks and the second parade which was great. I mostly focused on the rides. I didn’t have time to get treats. The new fireworks show was awesome.

December 2nd
We all started the day in Epcot. We got three rides done and headed towards the Hoop Dee Doo for dinner. We left the park at 2:30 for a 4pm show. A bus didn’t come until 3:05. It stopped first at wilderness lodge and then it broke down!!! I took my group of 30 and ran to the boat. We got to the Hoop dee doo at about 3:45. This was so stressful. I planned on being in the Magic Kingdom this day and having a Magic Kingdom dessert party but at 6 weeks out I found out that wasn’t happening so we moved to Epcot and Sunday we made our Magic Kingdom day even though it was supposed to be Epcot. My wedding planner and the entire Fairytale wedding team was a disaster, maybe I’ll do a write up on that later lol. The Hoop dee doo was great though. It’s the perfect place for big groups. They made a joke everyone was invited to our wedding. We then thankfully had a private charter bus after the Hoop dee doo to take up to the Epcot dessert party. It was cold outside so we had it in the spaceship earth lounge. They then walked us over to UK lochside for fireworks and we did Soarin after the fireworks. The charter bus stopped at everyone’s resort after which was really nice.

Wedding day!!
I didn’t get back to my room until like midnight. I had to wake up at 3:15 ish because my hair and makeup lady was arriving at 3:45. We paid for another room this night so I let DH sleep while I got my hair and makeup done. Our photographers got us at 5:45am and we had a photo shoot at the magic kingdom and Epcot. We were back at 8:30 and my family started to arrive at 9. We had the extra room to get ready in. 9:30 the photographers came back and did getting ready photos and photos around the Grand until the ceremony at noon. Cocktail hour was at 1. 2-6 was the reception. The day flew by. DH and I had planned to have a dinner alone but we were so tired we went to bed. Some people were doing the parks and we considered going but we had a relaxing night in the room and listened to the fireworks music on our balcony.

December 4th
We all met in animal kingdom. My siblings and cousins left later this day, but we all got to do Everest and flight of passage. We had lunch at Yak and Yeti which was awful. I normally enjoy Yak and Yeti, but I think with the big group the food quality took a dive lol We had a dinner with DHs brother SIL niece and nephew at Jiko. Jiko was amazing.

December 5th
This was the opening day of ROTR by the time we got to Hollywood boarding groups were done. I had no desire to wait on a 6 hour line so I didn’t get up early. When I found out they did boarding groups tho we decided to get up early the next day and go. We did TSL and star tours and had drinks in the cantina. The park was crazy, but it was manageable with our fastpasses. We got a 4th FP for tower of terror and our niece cried lol We then went to Epcot for the candellight processional with NPH. We had a dinning package at Chefs de France. This was really great. It’s a must do during Christmas time for us.

December 6th
We got up at 5am and left to catch the bus to Hollywood at 6am.
The bus was waiting for us there. We were the only ones on the bus and got to HS at 6:20. The park was supposed to open at 9, but people were being let in the park already when we got there. We scanned in and got boarding group 21. It took a few minutes for the app to recognize we were in the park. They were boarding 1-10 when we got in. We then rode slinky. We also did the falcon. After we went to wait outside ride of the resistance until our group was called. When our group was called we went in the line and grabbed another boarding group. We got group 30 the second time. after about 30 mins in line we were evacuated from the line. By the time we got evacuated at like 8:30 they were done with boarding groups for the day. When we got evacuated. They gave us a fastpass to come back attached to our magic bands. We came back when the ride opened and we were again kicked off the line and we were given another magic band fastpass to come back. Ride opens again so we come back for a third time. We get through the first preshow and the ride breaks again so we were given a paper fastpass for Rise of the resistance and a fastpass on our magic band for any other ride in HS( including the falcon) this paper fastpass allowed us to immediately get to the preshow when it reopened. After using our paper fastpass we went again because it was group 30s boarding time. Also the fastpasses were not being taken away after we rode so DH got to go a third time with his brothers family while I watched the baby. We even had the option to go a 4th time but we decided against that. We spent the whole day at Hollywood and even bought our niece a lightsaber. She loved it. She is 6 and I think she thinks everything is real so it was so cool for her. She did cry when the storm troopers said they were watching her lol We had dinner at Yatchsman with my Grandparents and Great aunt.

Our departure day was uneventful. We went to the magic kingdom and ate at the castle with DHs family. The meal was not good not the best character interactions and awful food. I had one bite of my chicken.

Overall, we had an amazing trip. It was so great celebrating with our families and friends for a week. The Epcot dessert party was definitely the highlight of the trip and better than the wedding lol If I got married again I would just do a solo ceremony and do a dessert party at all four parks lol
Congratulations again on the wedding!!!

UGH so sorry to hear about your troubles between the planner and breakdown of WDW transportation! I am glad you enjoyed the dessert party and HDDR. It really is a great time! I am so jealous of your re-rides on RotR! I wish I was there a day earlier to experience it like that, but where would the fun have been in that :rotfl:

I didn’t realize Miami was a direct flight option. I would 100% be willing to drive there. It’s about 2 1/2 - 3 hours but we could make that work. I’d rather do that than have a stop somewhere with the plane.

I was originally looking at booking with URs but I was thinking that wouldn’t be the best use of our points since we can transfer to virgin directly. I guess I need to compare the cost of paying fees directly (towards an MSR) or using URs to pay those fees.

Do you recommend any other airlines for PE to London that we could book with URs?

I did Up Close with Rhinos during this rain. It was an experience I will never forget. Luckily it stopped after that!
I would love doing an animal tour sometime. Maybe that’s something I can convince Dh to do. He wouldn’t be super interested so it might need to be like a birthday present to myself lol. Did you like it?

I was gonna get the spirit jersey of them for the festival but since Dh couldn’t get his shirt to match I decided against it.

Awesome, we were lucky enough to see one from our balcony at DVB last April (not as pretty but still cool). Hoping for a repeat this coming April.
What’s DVB? I’ve seen launches during the day but this was the first one at night. It was pretty darn cool. Dh and I both love space stuff. That’s why the nursery is space themed.

This basically outlines how I did it. I know it says it expired, but the comments show it is still working: https://slickdeals.net/f/13119439-1...s-extra-confirmed-delivery-window-20-ymmv-ups

Bummer that UPS isn't actually doing the delivery for your upgraded shipments! I really do like the premium service.

Yes, it was a lot of fun! We started a little late and were off to a rough start because of the rain, but it was very nice. You got to actually pet the rhino which was cool. There is an AP discount and 100% of the proceeds goes towards Rhino conservation so it is nice to know you're helping out a bit. No pictures since it is all backstage, but they take one when you return with a sign and who you met!

I have also done Caring for Giants about the elephants. Caring for Giants actually takes you behind the safari and you get to take pictures of the savannah because that is guest facing. I am not sure if Up Close with Rhinos would have been different without the rain, but it was all behind the scenes.

I would honestly do both again! Up Close with Rhinos is only offered 1x daily to fit within the trainers schedule. Caring for Giants is definitely more flexible with scheduling.

That blue spirit jersey was so cute! I may have even been tempted by it myself 🤣. I tried to have self-restraint and only purchased two things this trip. The Chip and Dale plush and a 2020 cinch backpack. I buy the dated one every year for my park bag.

Disney's Vero Beach. I think if there is a launch scheduled during our trip this year (and the weather looks favorable) we will pack everyone up and go onsite.

Update on my VZW Amex credit. I know I had mentioned that I purchased the physical GCs, got the credit, and could not apply them because my auto-pay had already hit. My new bill generated and I was able to apply 3, $100 GCs as prepayment without a disclaimer that I would lose my auto-pay discount. This makes me very happy and is a new way that I can pay my wireless bill on an MSR card :thumbsup2
