You know stalking him like that is ...odd
Psht - I’m president of the @Lain fan club. I had noticed he was approaching 40k the other day and the opportunity presented itself to be #40,000 so I took it!

(I totally know you’re just joking but I gotta wax poetic on Lain for a moment)...

Dude is a godsend to this community. This place would not be what it is today without Lain. He’s been instrumental to the success of DISchurners since day 1. His comments are second to none in terms of detail and clarity, his advice is impeccable. And we all underestimate how much time he puts in to maintaining the news thread, which I know many use to keep up with the hobby when they are unable to read every comment made here daily. Thanks for being so valuable @Lain!

I agree with most of what you said. I’m not a music person, so songs didn’t stand out for me. The story was more complex than I was expecting, and the ending was cute, but totally opened the door for Frozen 3.
I definitely think Disney will too! I know the opening day was slower in sales, but the weekend worldwide did great. I imagine Thanksgiving will also be big domestically. No way Disney won't want more releases 🤣

I need some serious help making a decision. Dh and I want to stay in Orlando December 12-14. We're looking at the Hiltons in Disney Springs. It looks like Bonnet Creek would be 48k/night (96k total for two nights). We need to transfer MRs to Hilton, but we would only have 72k so not enough for both nights. If I'm remembering correctly, if you book through Hilton with points you don't have to pay for the resort fee or parking. Since we don't have enough for both nights I thought we could use Chase points for one of the nights. But I'm pretty sure we would have to pay for parking and the resort fee for that night which is ridiculous. I just don't know what to do. I wish we had enough MRs for both nights, but we just don't. The two cheaper Hiltons aren't much cheaper so I was just gonna go with Bonnet Creek.

Honestly, having to put this much energy into staying at Disney makes me just not want to go at all.

I totally agree @Lain works super hard here, which is why I’ve totally noticed he’s been around a little less lately. Hope he’s enjoying his family and some relaxation. Although knowing how he is here, I doubt he relaxes much.
@Lain Enjoy Turkey Day and DLR with your family!!

I find your fascination with the “likes” the odd part @SouthFayetteFan I totally appreciate what you do here, and like a lot of your posts, but find your knowledge of how many points you, and the others, have to be strange. It’s not anything I’m even remotely aware of, even after you point it out. (If you recall, I had to ask where I would look to find out how many likes I have, looked then and haven’t looked again). I find value in what you say here, likes or not. You are more than just likes

Thanks, if that's the case it for sure makes the Venture the better choice.
I got the card recently because I already had a bunch of TYP. So between my two cards I have around 120,000 TYP which is enough for 2 tickets. Even if the prices are the same as Disney prices, you’d need at least 47,000 TYP per ticket.

My son thought Frozen 2 was better, but I doubt he remembers many details about Frozen. He did comment about the event missing that would be the big event in a sequel. Even he saw room for Frozen 3.

Wreck It Ralph 2 will teach you everything you need to know about why the world needs “likes” 🤣

It’s just a really nice way for the community to say in one loud voice “We appreciate your contributions!” The DIS is full of backstabbing, sarcasm, and downright nasty behavior. Threads are literally full of people belittling others in an effort to (I assume) feel better about oneself. People refer to “the rule”: meaning you have to quote the OP so if they go back and delete later you can still see what was originally said. Our thread flies in the face of all of that...

Very few people on the DIS have more likes than comments. Yet here on our thread, it’s commonplace for people to have a likes:comments ratio of 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and even higher! We don’t know what anybody is going through in life but sometimes something little like signing on to the DIS and seeing a dozen likes can make someone’s day. I’m not saying that anybody has to give our likes or that you or anybody else has to care about them. But I can say that it is a clear indicator for why this thread works and thrives where others do not. The outpouring of a mutual “thanks” is just awesome!

EDIT: And on a less serious note, Lain and I do have a little friendly competition going and it’s just fun for us.

Referring a spouse doesn't count as self-referral for Amex, right? Even if I am an AU on one of his Amex cards? (I am.not referring him from the AU card).

It was very odd, Amex wouldn't let me refer DH with his regular email address (tried 2x) but accepted his backup email.

He applied and got instant approval, but bow I worry I may anger Amex.

On a completely separate note, Dh and I have pretty much decided we'd like to fly to London instead of doing a Norwegian cruise. We would spend some time in London and then take the train to Edinburgh and do some things in Scotland. Our goal is summer 2021 (so baby will be a little over a year old). If possible, we would like to get nonstop flights from MCO in business class by using Chase points. I would like to get a seat for the baby so 3 seats next to each other would be best. We have lots of time to plan so I'm curious which airlines might be our best options. What do some of you think that have been before? Also, what could we expect points wise per person (using chase points)?

I know this is shorter notice, are there no Hiltons at all that cost less points and have no parking or resort fees? Maybe just something simpler on I-Drive? I’m not sure what your priorities are behind the properties you’ve chosen so perhaps my advice doesn’t fit but I’d be looking to cover something in full if it’s possible out there. Orlando has so many hotels!

We will be there over those dates, as you know. I've been surprised at just how booked up it is and how expensive the few remaining options are. We ended up using DVC points. I hear ya about it feeling like so much work. If my dd wasn't singing in the CP, I'm pretty sure I'd have changed my mind on making this trip happen :(

And yes, you will have the resort and parking fees if you book through UR's.

No resort fee for HH point stays, but pretty sure you still have to pay for parking.

Did you already see if you were targeted for the MR to HH transfer bonus? Also, HH points can be transferred between accounts, if that helps.

Now see, I would never know what that, nor look for the info. Truth be told, I rarely look outside this thread unless I’m loooking for very specific info on a topic with its own thread. I agree that this is the best place on Dis. I think it’s a great bunch of people and that’s why we like each other’s posts. It’s not the likes that make the thread great, it’s the people.

I only looked in the DS area. We would be doing MVMCP one night and the next day would do Epcot/HS. Do you know which hotels nearby don’t have resort fees/parking? I just don’t want to deal too much with traffic but it might be worth it if it’s that much cheaper. It may just be these dates

It’s really making me not want to go but Dh has that Friday off and I want to do at least a few holiday things. The weekend before didn’t look much better and he wouldn’t have that Friday off.

The People...and the likes...

Kidding - you are absolutely correct! But it’s ok if people enjoy likes too 😉
