MAJOR DISchurners Announcement!
I am pleased to inform you that DISchurners has added THREE new female moderators.

When I created DISchurners back in the fall of 2017, I could never have envisioned DISchurners growing the way that it did (to now over 300 members). @Albort has assisted me as a mod since the beginning and @Lain was added in May of 2018 due to his substantial knowledge of churning and great contributions to our community.

A few weeks ago, I started to think about adding some additional moderators there to assist with overseeing our community. I also have noticed that we have a strong female presence on our thread, yet have no female moderators. We have selected three ladies to join the mod team and "even the scales" so to speak - all of them have been with our group since the start and are well respected in the community. We considered numerous people and it was a difficult decision due to the plethora of quality candidates, that said, please congratulate these ladies and help me welcome our newest DISchurners moderators:
Thanks to each of you for your willingness to help as mods AND thank you to everybody here on the thread for being great members of the best churning community out there!

I’m not sure if it can be or not but I don’t think Dh and I want APs for universal right now
Gotcha. I was thinking Dec 2019 - Dec 2020 would extend the life of the ticket/value. I've only been to Universal Orlando 1x and was even considering attempting this myself and trying to head over there during my Dec Disney trip 😂

I'm sure it could be upgraded but most likely would be valued as a 2 day ticket. That's usually how the promo ones work... Now the UCT one that is 2 days plus 1 free is valued as a 3 day ticket because it's more a UCT special, not a Uni promo.

how is spirit airlines in general? a friend of mine wants to try it based on the price.....
I'm also curious about Spirit @wendow … I'm debating them if we go for SW previews. I haven't flown them since 2017, PHX to DEN, but had a good experience and remember they had better seats than Frontier (more like typical SW seats than Frontier's barely quilted padding over a frame)

oohhhhh very clever, but it would have to be upgraded in person, right? not over the phone?

wwyd(use) question.... DH has to pick up a car rental this month and I won't be with him,so he can't use my CSR... what's the next best options to use for the cc? I know we always declien their coverage anyway based on our own car insurance, CIP? any of the Amex products useful here? or his FU?

Ahhhh, thank you. UT is what I was thinking about! I remember going to Universal in 2016 and I considered upgrading to a seasonal pass so I could book a discounted room for Express Pass. I ended up just doing a 1 day P2P ticket. That was a painful price. 😣

anyone else having Chase UR site issues this morning? Trying to coordinate some booking with fam members,we're getting a combo of no Uni hotels,or the Uni hotel we want, or the Uni hotels we don't want....no continuity at all which leads me to believe it's glitchy again.... this is getting to be a constant with the new UR site.....

Question for ones who have been to or live in Boston. Looking to go for a quick weekend. Wanting to go to the Aquarium and of course Faneuill Hall. I believe they are somewhat near each other. Hoping to use my IHG points so looking for a Crowne Plaza or even a Holiday Inn Express that would be closest to these places.

When we were there for our layover I only remember seeing a Marriott nearby.

I can't decide about our preview. I keep wondering if it is not wise to waste points on flight/hotel for basically 1 ride when I could save them for a longer fall trip instead. I think we will end up not going. I would like to go 2-3 more times before the end of the year, and the preview would take up one of those spots.

So I have a couple travel-related questions:
  • For those of you who have booked non-Disney trips using a tour provider (such as Tauck, for example), does that code as travel for Chase?
I need to book cash flights to India. I also have to pay the provider. I am trying to figure out what to do about trip insurance. Let's just say the tickets will be 2-3x the cost of the tour.
  • Do you get separate trip insurance, other than what the CSR provides, for non-cruise trips? We've only purchased trip insurance for two trips so far (China, cruise), bc almost everything we've done so far is refundable or not prepaid.
Assuming I buy separate trip insurance, which would you choose?
  • buy tickets with CSR, pay tour provider with dh's new Gold?
  • buy tickets with Gold, pay tour provider with CSR?
I took a brief look at insure my trip---costs look to be ~$650-800. This is our first MR card. We are 40K UR from the goal for Australia 2020 (though we'd meet that with good future CF quarters, a CIC SUB, and regular spend)

 <----- me, today

:thanks:

I am torn. Our APs expire Labor Day weekend so on one hand this could help us skip DHS and the madness that weekend... and I don't want to renew yet. I broke the news to DH this morning that it would cost us $2025 to renew for non-Plus passes. I think he was very out of touch with their cost because besides the recent increase, last year I had used URs for 7 day PHs and then we upgraded those. I think I'd like to take a break again before deciding if we want APs or just tickets for the next trip. We've got the BG tickets from Daily Getaways to use, plus we'll probably do Uni APs again as it's about the same price as tickets for just the one trip in September we are looking at. If I was in your shoes, I'd probably lean towards not going too.
