Yikes was just looking at frequent miler's blog and i see the topic of kids being in business classs has come up again.
Some nasty comments in there. I really didn't think this was too much of a thing but I remember my brother telling me
a couple weeks ago there was an angry passenger in business wanting the crying toddler moved to the back.o_O

My brother flies few times a month for business and said he has noticed lately more glares or words exchanged from other
business passengers when a baby/kid is sitting up there crying/unruly/ or even just talking lol.

I usually have sympathy because I was a baby once and im sure I was no picnic when traveling:teeth:

When ds was a baby I was flying alone with him from LAX to YYZ in business class (he's 27 now, so it was quite a while ago). He started to get very fussy / crying. I was doing the best that I could; one of the FAs asked me to walk my baby to the galley in the back and sooth him there because some of the passengers had complained, which I did. When I got back to our seats she said something to the effect that since I got my seat on miles the paying passengers were offended. I told her that I had paid cash for both seats and didn't know why she would make such an assumption (the only reason I could think of is that I was quite young and maybe she thought I didn't look like I could afford it -- I have no clue). I was really upset and had her write her name and info down on paper for me and took it up with Air Canada when I got home. They ended up giving me a free flight in N. America in business class as an apology. I have a lot of empathy for passengers traveling with small children -- it's not easy.

We went swimming in January this year.

We definitely went swimming, both at the Poly and at Universal, but since we didn’t know in advance what the weather would be like, we didn’t plan for swimming. It was just a bonus. VB was closed due to the weather at US.

If you call more than a month before expiration they won’t extend it. They tell you to call back closer to expiration. BTDT
Very interesting! My wife's expires in March and each of the past 2 years I've called in Dec to get it extended with no issue. Might be a function of who answers...strange! (YMMV I guess, huh?)

The important thing with January/February trips is to not count on being able to swim or visit water parks. If you're thinking of it as "a bonus" or it "might be nice" then you won't be disappointed. As you can see from my signature, I have extensive Jan/Feb visit experience. I can tell you that your highs could be as high as mid 80's or the high could not even hit 50. Even when it is at its warmest, temperatures start low in the morning and then fall quickly at night due to the limited sun (sunsets coming at around 6pm that time of year). The other thing is you can't trust the forecast when packing for a week-long trip. That time of year, the temperatures and outlook 6-10 days out can change rapidly. When you leave, you might see a forecast of all 70s and by the end of your week it's in the low 50s. A rainy day can also kill all warmth. So like I said...don't count on swimming between Jan 1 and Feb 28, and if you can, count it as a blessing!

Wow this sounds super negative...HAHA! All that said, I LOVE January and February trips! Escaping the cold of the north = AWESOME! Touring Epcot in a hooded sweatshirt = pretty cool if you compare it to July and sweating your butt off! We've only had 1 truly frigid trip in all our years (and it was a little tough to enjoy if I'm being honest) but every other trip has been GREAT.

We look at it exactly the way you describe. We’re from upstate NY—near Lake Placid. We’ll take 50-60 degree weather over 90 any day.

This isn't new. We got quite a few unhappy glances when we were in first class with a one year old on a flight to Hawaii. That was 20 years ago. And another friend with older kids said someone actually announced loudly, "I don't think they allow those in here" when she entered first class with her kids. People can be so rude. We had a fussy baby in our business class cabin from LHR - SFO this summer. The mom kept trying to get him to sleep, and eventually she did, but much of the time he was miserable. As long as the parents are trying I don't think there is more than can be done.

Our trip to China was like that. 12 hrs non stop in “Economy Plus” or whatever they called it 10 years ago. The flight back with a 1 ur old was awful. I was yelled at for asking for hot water for his bottle, they had no food for baby, forgot to serve 2 rows dinner and refused to come back and serve until they collected garbage from the rest of the plane. And yes we paid for a seat with upgrade for DS to fly in his car seat which we weren’t allowed to install before boarding either. We haven’t flown UA since.

Crazy, huh? Every time we held up the entire aisle to get the carseat in we would explain that United refused to let us preboard... DH also was close to a bad (verbal) fight at the gate because a United worked said we couldn't take our stroller on board because it wasn't an umbrella stroller. It was an expensive little Japanese model that was build to fit down skinny aisles of airplanes and then folded up in 2 directions and was totally allowed. I was getting worried they were going to tell us we couldn't board, and then another United employee told her that she has the same stroller and we were correct. I do what I can to avoid them whenever possible. As it was, DH was miserable when we traveled with the carseat because it was such a pain for him to carry, but we felt like it was safer.

Is using Plastiq considered a “MS”? I would have asked this question on Reddit but I still can’t figure out how to post on there.

If you're paying a legitimate expense, it's not MS.

Plastiq works closely with all the major payment networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover) as well as issuers, so they're well aware of this service.

That's what Bose noise cancelling earphones are for!

Totally :offtopic: except that I found a way to pay tuition via CCs but I am so glad we are moving DS to private school in the fall. It is absolutely the right decision. Apparently, the kids are now making fun of him for being younger as he just turned 12 while the other 7th graders are 13 or will be shortly. This is due to him being a bumped up a year from kindergarten to 1st grade. I thought he was upset because I wouldn't get him a pug but he finally broke down on FaceTime after 30 times calling me to tell me he wasn't going to school today and told me the real issue. He even asked to repeat 7th grade so he wouldn't stand out again at his new school. My heart is breaking for him. Middle school kids are so cruel. Just 37 more days to get through...
No offense but kids may tease at his new school too. Good decision to move him but not a guarantee it won’t happen again. I was always teased and made fun of for being smallest in my class (& worst athlete) End of first grade they wanted to advance me to third grade and skip second. My parents refused as I was already the smallest and that would make it worse. By 5th grade, grades were blended and I took advanced classes anyway.

Yes! I’ve only used Plastiq twice and both times it was to pay legitimate monthly expenses.

I met the MSR on my CIP last month and the URs are pending for my next statement. BUT, I just learned here on disboards that the MK EMM I reserved for September is going to be cancelled, and that's over $400 that will be refunded to my CIP. Do refunds affect SUBs? We've been hitting P2's CIP this month, but should I put a bit more spend on mine just in case?

Soooo I can just go for a dummy Citi AA Biz booking for DH while he's still got the first card open as long as it's been 95 days, right?

I’m generally cautious with this sort of thing. If possible I’d try to spend the $400+ ASAP just to avoid any negative attention. If this were AMEX, I’d be much more concerned about points potentially being clawed back. With Chase, I’m not worried about that, I’d just do the right thing quickly to offset it. :)

That is odd. I called maybe 6 months in advance and the woman said she couldn’t do it.(actually may have called twice because I thought the first rep was wrong :rolleyes1) She says “Maybe call back closer to the expiration date.” Called back 4-6 weeks prior to expiration, took 5 minutes. Rep extended the date 12 months, then applied it to my upcoming stay.

That would be the general theory :) I cancelled mine personally before going for AA biz #2 just because I felt better doing it that way (but it’s not a requirement)

Maybe it was the 3 month mark that made it possible then. I was inside of 3 months both times I called.

Ok, so if I want to add my new CIP to my current Chase Biz account, do I first have to set up an account for the new one then call and have them merge the accounts?

I just called to have it added to my account. I had the same issue and tried to SM and they made me call. It was a painless call to their website people.

So I'm still torn on CIP 2 for me... That would be 7 cards for me with Chase within 24 months... really within 20 months. I feel like that's pushing the boundaries, and it would technically be my 4th biz card with Chase. I don't HAVE to have more URs right now, and I will drop below 5/24 this November.

On the one hand, I could earn another 100k URs. But then I might draw the ire of Chase...
On the other hand, I could play it safe, hit Amex and Citi for necessary Hilton and AA points, and then go for a CIC in November. Plus I still have almost 2k left in Bonvoy Biz MSR.

Decisions...
