Clothes not getting clean? Maybe it's your washer!

Yeah, I know it's not really an attraction, but does anyone else just love watching those Appliance Direct infomercials on late-night Orlando TV? I don't know if it's the down-to-earth friendliness of Sam, the AD owner, or the fact that the woman in the commercials is a ringer for Pam Dawber (of Mork and Mindy fame), or if it's just the way that Sam loves to shout " I LOVE appliances!" in the spots, but I am hooked on those infomercials and I find myself scanning the channels every time I'm in Orlando, hoping to catch one.

If you didn't buy it direct, you proabbly paid too much!

That HUGE grin on his face. And they say "Appliance Direct" about 500 times.

You paid too much!

Just a warning do not buy anything for Appliance Direct!! They are terrible!

They are too far away from me. But, why do you say that?

We bought from Famous Tate. We haven't gotten the appliances yet, but we got a great price and their staff is pretty knowledgable.

I always know what i am looking for before I shop. it helps weed out the sales pitch.

Haven't seen them lately, but the ads from "The Family Guy" (and his brother, "The Family Boy") for "Family Auto Mart" were even better--or at least weirder. They'd have game shows and sitcom parodies in the middle of their 30 minute infomercial.

If you're ever in need of an infomercial fix in Orlando, try Channel 27.

Man, those are terrible ads! I also hate all the car dealer ads around here.

Hehe, you mean when they carry the board with the phone number? What is that?

And that poor pitbull on that Toyota commercial. He looks like he just wants to sleep!

I think Bob Dance is going to leave his dealership to his grand daughter. We are going to be hearing that it is "Where everybody wides." for a loooong time.

I can watch that guy for hours. For some reason, it's almost impossible to turn the channel once it comes on. It's like he puts you in some type of trance. After a few mins, I can hear myself chant "I..Love..Appliances..."

I say this because they say everythong is new out of the box, but much of their appliances are reconditioned or dented. Plus you dont get any support or customer service,,esentially once u buy an appliance from them "you own it". if you have problems, forget any assistance from them. I know this from personal exdperience, plus i know someone in the appliance business and he concurs with me. So stay away from them.

oh that is sad.

the ads are so funny....

yes I like him too!!!

:rotfl:

I only buy Maytag anyway.

I'll definitely take that as a warning!

But, like I said, they are almost an hour away from our new place, so we did not even consider them.

This I thought was funny the first time I saw it, so I called DH into see it, he thought the man should be more calm so he does not have a heart attack.

The question I always ask is, why do they feel the need to scream at the viewer.

The Appliance Direct commercials are now available online at their website with an obvious URL that I can't post b/c of my previous lack of posts.

Maybe it's your refrigerator?

I don't feel like I have arrived in Orlando until I see Appliance Direct and Family Auto Mart. A few years ago, after a couple of "adult drinks" I watched those infomercials with a few friends in our room and we just ROARED!

Catch phrases in our house are: "Maybe it's your dishwasher" and "I love appliances" But I don't bang my washing machine lid down!

They are soooo annoying! Maybe it's because I live here and see them all the time. Even worse are the Faaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmily Auto Mart ones. That's less than a mile from my house :)

We've not had bad luck at all with Appliance Direct. Any problem I've had, has been addressed.

If you go into an Appliance Direct store, and there are several locations, you will see all the appliance are divided up. Meaning if yoe wew looking for a dishwasher and you wanted Whirlpool for instance, the models would be lined up best condition (NEW) to scratched and dented. The price would start at the NEW and go down accordingly. There might be a difference in price of the same model by as much as $200 DEPENDING ON CONDITION.(most of the time, the scratch will even be on the side of the fridge, where it would never be seen when it was installed)

I have bought a dishwasher from his Winter Garden location and I know someone that purchased a stove from his Longwood location and have great luck with them. My dishwasher was new in the box not new and out of the box either.
I saw NO appliances that had been used, as unless you are a flea market or a place like Salvation Army, used appliances cannot be sold in an "APPLIANCE" store in Florida. They can be scratched/dented but not USED.

He just cuts out the middle man. Thats why the prices are low. Go see for yourself, no one will twist your arm to buy there. But, you will save a lot of money for NEW appliances.
