I lost my Magic Band...twice.

We arrived at Disney Sunday and headed to Epcot yesterday. At about 9:15, I realized I no longer had my Magic Band. So, I went to guest relations and they gave me a new one and said it happens all the time! This morning at Magic Kingdom, same thing. The guy at guest relations actually asked if I wanted a card instead of a Band! I promised I'd be more careful, and gave me a new Band.

I've learned a few things:
-Guest relations at both MK and Epcot are great...it was my first time visiting both.
-Be careful with your Band.
-Some people are better off buying a keychain to hold the puck. I spent the $10 and now feel fairly confident I won't have any more lost Band issues.

I haven't been to WDW since last summer, so we have the "older" MBs. Are the new bands (I realize there's a center puck, but I mean the band) any different in how they snap on? Do you have any idea how it may have happened? Do you recall bumping it on anything?

Not in the least implying you did anything wrong, just curious. None of us have ever lost one of our old ones via falling off, they held on pretty tight. Hope the new style is just as good.

And I agree that my experiences at guest relations is almost always very good.

The newer bands are even better than the older ones. Mine snaps on just fine and it's the same snap wise as the first ones

Eek!
First I've heard of this.. but twice??

Are the new bands just falling off??
I have new and old n I'd hate to deal with someone losing one with our cc on it!
Can u give any further details OP?

Your CC is not actually on the band it is on your My Disney Experience account and unless someone knows your PIN they can not charge it. You can also deactivate any band through your My Disney Experience account if you lose it and then reactivate it if ever found if you are that worried.

The new and old bands close the same way. Some do pop off but it is not a wide spread issue. If you are super worried they have key chain holder you can buy now. We did a 5 day long trip with the new bands and never lost one.

The new and old have access to the same information. There's nothing "on" it. Someone would need your PIN code to use your band for a purchase.

My band fell off all the time! It would unhook adjusting my backpack etc. i lost mine at the pool and had to get a new one. (Somewhere between getting out and putting ds in his stroller). When we checked out today I guess they had found it, because they gave it back to me.

A great option to keep them in place is a "BITBELT" which is smaller, tighter and made to hold your MB, Fitbit or other belt wear on. The Disney sliders are really just for decor and not all that comfortable on the back of your arm, we've tried after DS lost his on RnR. They are very reasonable and worth getting a few to take with you. I always have some in my bag. Google the name and you'll find it. They even have one that glows in the dark. :D

My teen dd had hers pop off a few times last year. We finally went to guest relations in MK and they issued her a new one. They told us it sometimes happens and they were very good with replacing it and deactivating the old one for us.

OP here...I don't think the new bands are as secure as the old ones. I have a wristlet and yesterday I was messing with something in it and trying to grab my toddler at the same time. I think it got caught and popped off. Today...I have no idea. But I guess out of everything I could have lost, it was the most easily replaceable thing.

There is no information on the bands. The CMs who helped me just deactivated the old ones.

They did replace DS but only offered grey and he wasn't happy.

I think the bigger concern is many have specialty MB (we each have several each and change them around), some adorn with Bandits (which they won't replace) and some of us have special sliders like AP/DVC which can be very difficult to replace ... I know my old AP sliders look different than new ones. It's all those things we don't want to lose.

I've gone using a magic band 6 times and never once did i lose it or have it feel at all unsecure on my wrist.
In fact its usually kinda hard to get it off at the end of the day.
I think many times people don't make sure that the pegs are fully into the holes. Just my thought though.

We have a collection of over 30 Magicbands (use them as a countdown chain for our trips). With all those bands, we've only lost 2. Both were my youngest daughters. One was the old style and I think it was lost in the pool and the other was the new style. I love the new Magic Keepers as an alternative.

Just ordered Bitbelts for our bands, thank you Hopper Fan for mentioning them! They remind me of the clips we used to get for free years ago when Magic Bands first came out.

My son and his GF went to WDW about a month ago. She had made the reservation and never added him, so she had a MagicBand and he didn't. As a gift, I bought him a Star Wars MagicBand - and he lost it the 2nd day of their trip. Guest Services gave him a plain green one. They never "had time" to check back at Lost and Found. But two weeks ago, my DH and I were at WDW, and had an extra hour before we had to leave for the airport, so we went to Lost and Found - and they had it! The agent was able to find DS through my MDE, find that he was linked to the GF's MDE, see the Magic Band on the inventory of found items, and actually pull it off the shelf. I wouldn't have bothered had it been a plain one! Needless to say, this was the only souvenir we got him from our trip.

I have bit belts that I've used since MB came out. Just this past trip with the new ones, was the only time I noticed that they came unsnapped and the bitbelt was the only thing holding it on. Best money I ever spent
