Every Wednesday morning I go to a crop for about 3 hours before heading back to work. I've been doing this since the beginning of school this year.
The only problem was, is that I would bring all kinds of stuff with me (stuff I really didn't need lol) and not get much done.
I would either be looking around the store figuring out what to buy, or looking at all the cool layouts that they have hanging up--taking pictures of them for future reference or I would have my face stuffed in a scrapbooking book trying to get some ideas. Then by the time I would figure out what I was going to do, it was time to pack up and be gone.
So over the last week or so, each day I would be in my scrapbook area figuring out which pictures I wanted to scrap, then take a big 2 gallon ziploc bag, put those pictures along with all the papers, cardstock, stickers, cricut cutouts, journaling, etc for that particular layout inside the bag, then put it aside. I did this each day for about a week. Then when Wednesday came, I just put all of these "kits" that I put together inside my ONE bag along with my cutter and adhesive and off I went to my crop.
When I sat down, I was able to relax, cut out my pictures to the sizes that I need them to be, glue everything down and actually enjoy myself. I was able to get about (5) 2-page 12x12 layouts and (3) 1-page 12x12 layouts done.
Now this might not be helpful to everyone, but I find it so much more relaxing to do this ahead of time then to sit there for a couple hours trying to figure out what I want to do. And now, anytime I sit down at my scrap table, I will be pre-making these kits instead of sitting down to do an actual page. That way when Wednesday's come along, I'm good to go. And then hopefully during Christmas break or any other day I have off from work (I drive a bus, so I usually have a few days here and there lol) I can bang out quite a few kits to bring to a scrapbooking retreat that I'm hoping to go to in the spring.
Do you have any tricks of the trade that work for you? Please share!!!
