We just got back yesterday, and left behind 11 CS credits. What could I have done with them? I would have asked, but we were in a hurry to get to the airport. We didnt use them breakfast, and ate a TS for lunch & dinner. CS was too hectic for us with 3 little ones. For the future, could I have gotten anything with all the CS credits?

You could have used them for breakfasts at your resort. Assuming their were 2 adults in the group, one of you go get breakfasts to go and the other stay with the little ones.

You could have also gotten lunch to go and taken it to the park. On the kids side the uncrustable PB&Js and chips/fruit would have traveled well and with 4-5 people bottled water would have been great.

We were able to get a couple of bottled drinks and I believe bakery item or fruit with our CS credits just before leaving.

We only ate CS in the parks a couple of times. Mom and nephew did at Epcot, we shared at Main St bakery after Spectro Magic and at Peco Bill's during the Pirate and Princess party. I was disappointed at Peco Bill's.

DOWN TOWN DISNEY .... we grab some fantastic sandwiches to go, with our left over CS credits.

They travel very well, and you can fill a cooler with them. Earl of Sandwich- makes some of the best sandwiches I've ever had ;)

Stopping at DTD on the way out of Disney World is a quick pit stop

I don't get it....what did you eat if you didn't use the credits? What did you do for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day?

According to someone earlier today you can get 3 snacks for a counter service.
Only at specific venues (i.e., typically those that are noted as both CS and snack locations in the brochure).

If we ate breakfast it was bars in the room or bagels (snack). I will use CS for bagels next year. We also ate a TS for an early lunch then a TS for dinner. CS was too hectic for us. When the kids get older we will do CS. We did pay OOP for 2 TS meals. But we didnt care because we ordered light at Tony's & The Plaza.

Next time instead of the Plaza you could go next door to Main Street bakery and gotten a similar light meal with your CS credits and desserts are also amazing at the bakery. I don't see CS as hectic if you use it for breakfast before leaving the room. We also got milk at just about every CS meal for my nephew to drink. He always had left over for the room fridge and it was a nice treat for when we got back to the room or first thing in the morning.

Sounds like you were on the Free DP so it was more of an experiment than an investment. Sounds like you had a great time and its definitely a good idea not to "worry" DH about the coulda's. ;)

Worst case scenario use those CS credits for the beverages alone!

Counter services aren't hectic....LOL We just got back a few weeks ago and we were traveling with 3 little ones and 2 tween/teens. We ate one counter service every day to make our ddp work out but we chose counter services that were less hectic. We still managed to spill 2 drinks before we finished out the week LOL Why they try to pack 7 meals on 2 trays is beyond me....but we dealt with this at every restaurant. We learned to just move our trays over to the side out of peoples way and then the older kids helped me or my husband transport the drinks to the table before carrying the trays of food.

We ate at Peco's Bills/Magic Kingdom, Sunshine Foods/Epcot, Flame Tree BBQ/Animal Kingdom and Toy Story Pizza Planet/MGM. We also did a few at the POP Century food court. Toy Story Pizza Planet was stressful because the seating is upstairs, the bathrooms were all the way across the restaurant and then all the arcade games downstairs....ugghhh LOL That was one of our drink spills :) All over me and sadly it was just lunch time and we had a full day planned at MGM.

The other one we won't be doing again until they are older is Peco's Bills. Of course...another drink spill LOL but a cast member sat there with a mop next to the garbage cans and watched it all happen and didn't offer to help or anything! Plus it's just too much to deal with trying to fix burgers at the burger bar, not spill a drink piled on a tray and dealing with the crowds.

you could use some of our family's strategies... we have often sent one adult to the food court to get a few breakfasts to go (they pack them nicely for you) while the other gets the kids up and dressed and such... another option is to enjoy pizza by the pool on your "down" day (assuming you planned a down day)... we've also given our leftover credits away to a family just checking in to start their trip with magic!

We gave one away once to another family in the food court.
It was our checkout day & we were trying to use them up.

The cashier that rang up the family's meal was so impressed with my "good deed" that after the family left with their meal, he called me over & said, "Here, this is for your act of kindness. Please keep one & give the other to someone whom you see doing a kind act". It was a set of 2 Tinkerbelle pins...sealed in plastic. From the packaging, I think they're designed as part of the YOAMD promotion. :goodvibes

The plan of sending one parent to get the breakfast while the other gets the kids ready is a great plan when you have 2 kids. We have 5...so carrying 2 to 3 trays of things would be pretty impossible without some sort of help. We need some sort of cart LOL

We really don't care for CS all that much. We used a couple for breakfast last trip and paid OOP for TS lunches those days. There were other TS lunches we wanted to do, but felt like we should do CS to use up all those credits.

Next trip we are doing the deluxe dining plan and saying goodbye to CS! :goodvibes just

Looks like you're there now, but not so. Resort CSs not only have to go containers, but bags. So carrying 5 meals and bottled drinks in two shopping bags shouldn't be an issue for an adult. Besides you an always havea tween/teen go to help.

ditto septbaby... not only do the plates get covers, but the cashiers have nice shopping bags that easily fit four or five meals in them and a second bag could carry drinks (bottled water, oj and chocolate milk!)

i've actually brought breakfast to go (w/the help of an 8yo) for eight of us more than once and it was really not a hassle at all (and it beat trying to find a table for all of us, along with trying to get everyone to the food court at the same time/in a timely fashion... the only downside was that i didn't bring coffee back (but bottles of coke sufficed)!

Do they have covers for everything? I know when we went some of our breakfast food didn't have covers? It was just on a paperplate. And you can use the bottled cokes over fountain cokes? We always took our refillable mugs down and got them filled up too, but I suppose we could do that on the way out to the busses. I'll have to remember this for next time. As we wanted to have supper in our rooms a few times but I just could not carry 2 trays back to the room without spilling something LOL

We just got back....the dates in my signature line are 2008 :) I didn't know you could get to go containers, we ate there 3 times during our last trip and many of our meals were just on paperplates, no covers or anything....so I had no idea. We always got fountain drinks too, I have to have my hot tea LOL But I suppose the others could have bottled drinks and I'd get a water if we really wanted to eat in the room that badly.

Now if we could only figure out a way to get counter services in the parks to make it as easy to carry all this stuff.

I've found that the parks have no to-go packaging, but every resort we've stayed at does. You have to ask for it though. The kids meals are usually served in those mickey-shaped plastic sectioned containers, and they have clear mickey covers for them. Adults usually have the black oval containers with the clear covers.

My dd and I often share cs lunches, so we had quite a few cs credits left over from our 10 night stay this summer. We had our last day's breakfast at Boma, and staked out the Mara for people who were going to pay with cash, and we 'paid' for thier meals. There was another woman there doing the same thing..lol. My dd had a ball doing this!
We paid for the DP and I couldn't see all of those credits going to waste. We stayed club level and had breakfast and snacks always available. We would take some fruit with us to the parks too.. we didn't eat many cs meals at all, and when we did we'd usually share. We had 12 CS credits left.

We didn't 'donate' all the credits, we went home with LOTS of mickey rice crispies treats too..lol.

I have always very deliberately "saved" CS credits for our last day... I go to the food court cooler section and get sandwiches and chips and bottled beverages to take to the airport with us. Then we don't have to buy food in the airport on our way home.
