I know! Yet ANOTHER waitlist question! (Can you help me anyway?!?)

OK, here's my story - coming down in May - right now I have:

5/15-18 Bay Lake studio (lake view) for cash
5/18-23 BCV 1 bedroom villa for points.

the beach club ressie is fine - no issues there. The issue is that I want BLV to be for points, so have it on a waitlist. I have been calling MS 3-4 times a day (yes, I know, one of THOSE people) for like the last three weeks trying to see if any of the three nights I need individually are available for points and so far nothing.

I have never had this happen before where nights I need, one at a time, don't start springing up, so I am starting to get discouraged.


Here's my questions:

1. should I have hope still - is there anything else I should be doing?

2. when should I say, OK its time to think about OKW or SSR? My thought now is that if nothing opens up w/in 30 days, its not going to, but I am far from the DVC expert, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong and what's right!

Have hope.

I had a waitlist for BCV open up within one week of a stay at the end of September at the beginning of Food and Wine. I've also had them come through for Spring break. Stay on the waitlist. Also reserve where you can get a room and see if your waitlist comes through. At your 31 day mark you will have to decide, but you have over a month for that. I don't know what the cancellation policy is for cash rooms, but I wouldn't worry about that either until your last day to cancel. People may disagree, but it kills me to pay for a room when I have the points.

One thing I have done, which is kind of a risk, is waitlist a day or two at a time. When that comes through I get on the waitlist for the next day I want and so forth. It is a lot easier getting a day at a time, than 3 days in a row, and I have been successful with it.

It sounds like in the end you plan on using points for the stay even if it's at some other property. If that's the case I'd forget about the cash reservation and reserve something else right now. And continue to stay on the waitlist for BLT. There's always a chance that right at the 31 day mark someone will cancel and your waitlist will fill. And set up the waitlist to go to 7 days out and then you can call after that to try and catch any last minute cancellations.
