Hi everyone, I'm new here at the college forums and had a question for any past or current Disney internship students. A few years back I started high school with the idea that I knew I wanted to work for Disney and it was a job I would enjoy the rest of my life. Then I had to figure out what I was going to do. I'll be graduating in june and starting my first semester in the fall at High Point University. I know the school accepts the internship and encourages the program but I'm not sure what to do since I'll be taking the undecided major since I have interests in both marketing and communications. I wanted to ask when is the best time to take the internship program? I know I don't want to throw myself into it right away but when is the best time to immerse yourself in this experience? I'm sure you can understand how eager I am.

Thanks!

Personally, I'd say wait until you have at least one year of college under your belt, then go from there.

I'd say take a year and decide what major you definitely want to do. Then do the program. That way when you go back to school you get to start into your major. You won't have to worry when you get back about "i still don't know what I want to do!"

i believe for the program you have to be in your junior year or at least have junior standing. that might just be for my school but i would look into that! thats very exciting though that you are already thinking about this that shows a lot. i wouldnt worry about not having a major picked out yet that will come when you start taking classes and such

Certain schools require students to be in their junior year. Mine does not require students at all to be in their junior year. .

I totally understand where you're coming from. I found out about the program my sophomore year of high school and really wanted to do it. I did decide to just do the program my first year of college, but it all depends on you. How long can you wait to immerse yourself in this experience? The program will be beneficial no matter when you do it, you just have to decide when's the best time for you. I came into school ahead (AP tests) and with a major already decided so I personally felt that this was the right time for me.
If you don't want to do it your first year, try for the second year I'd say. See how the first year goes and then make your decision. Remember also that once you complete the CP you can also do Professional Internships that are more focused on your major in college.
Good luck with everything, and.......
Have a Magical Day! :)
