Would you do this just to visit WDW...
We live in Syracuse NY and it is difficult to get a low cost fare out of here to almost anywhere but when the kids have off for President's Week it is even more of a challange to get a low fare. To me a low fare is $99 or less (one-way) to Orlando. With two of our lower priced airlines closing up shop last year (Trans Meridian and Independance Air) low priced flights are few and far between.
So, with that said we travel often to Rochester and Albany to get lower fares.
Our trip next week consists of...
Renting a car from Budget for a one way car rental drop off in Rochester, NY ($29 for the rental) and having no parking fees for the week.
Flying out of Rochester, NY non stop to Orlando on Airtran ($99 pp x 3)
Our return flight is Orlando to Pittsburgh, PA non-stop on Southwest ($55 pp x 3) and then renting a one-way car rental from Pittsburgh to Syracuse ($48)
I know it sounds extream but we try to go to WDW 3 or 4 times a year and to pay the prices most airlines wanted for President's Week we would have spent the budget for our 3 trips a year in just one trip. I also don't like taking my daughter (a freshman in HS) out of school as they really frown on "illegal absenses" and sometimes won't offer to allow the student to make-up the missed assignments.
So (and I know I am asking for it) am I crazy for going to all this trouble???
