Okay I need my fellow roller coaster freaks to help me with this one....Busch Gardens Tampa is getting what is called a "hand me down" roller coaster from Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I have figured out the coaster that BGT is getting. Its called "cheetah chase" its a Wild mouse coaster...but the reason BGW got rid of it was that it needed more room to build a structure that is 40,000 sq. feet and 80' high. A spokesman from BGW said that it was "very difficult and challenging for our engineers". Thats all I know. does anyone else have any more facts??? I am guessing that it is either a motion simulator, something like Mission:space, or a small roller coaster. Thanks

I have been to Busch Gardens Williamsburg many times in the last 6 years and don't remember a ride called Cheetah Chase that is like the Wild Mouse. I do know of a hard core rollercoaster that was pulled out of service about 6 years ago in Busch gardens. It was located within view of Loch Ness Monster. The name escapes me though! I know I'll remember it soon!

The Wild Mouse at BGW is called "Der Wild Maus". It's tucked into the edge of the property and it's a little hard to visualize fitting something large into that area. Does anyone remember the "Glissade"? It was a bobsled themed coaster that once resided in that same space. I loved that one as a kid.

Several years ago, BGW shut down "Drachen Fire", which is the coaster AspiringCindy references. It was shut down because it was a very uncomfortable ride generating many, many complaints. BGT wouldn't be too happy if they got that one.

That's it "Drachen Fire"!

THis new "stucture" that BGW is building has just been said about a week ago...the wild mouse coaster was called "Der Wild Maus" like gcurling said that is the one that BGW is giving to BGT just naming it different...i just wondered if anyone had any details about the one that BGW is planning on building in that space where "Der Wild Maus"used to be. Thanks

According to screamscape.com, the park is keeping mum on the new project right now, other than to say it's a really large building. Hmmm...

From what i have read the size of the new ride building at BGW trhat will take the place of the Wild Maus(before that it was named after the mascot for the olympics something like lizzy/iggy??)will be equal in size to the Festhaus rest.
I dont recall there being that much room back there, rumors i have heard is it will be sometype of dark ride but nothing is certain yet.
But since i will go to BGT next year i will now ride that ride 2 yrs in a row at different parks.

I would be joining you with that distinction, however... This year, BGW raised the height requirement from 42" to 48" and my 5.5 year old daughter was too small to ride the coaster she rode at 4.5 years old. So, I'll be able to say I rode it in 2002 at BGW and 2004 at BGT.

Gcurling we will still be in a "elite" group(lol) to have ridden the coaster in each park.
Of course i would much perfer to ride Alpenguits/Apollo's Chariot tweo years in a row but will settle for the wildmaus/cheetah coaster instead.

I will join you two in that also...two summers ago i rode 41 rollercoasters in a week in two different states and four different parks..hehe...it was sweet..... "Der Wild Maus"was one of those roller coasters. I live in Tampa so I will get to ride it again. Bob i totally agree with you.. I would rather ride Apollo's Chariot or Aplegeinst than Der Wild Maus
