I know there are discounts for the Poly, but what's up with this?

I just read this on a review of the Poly at Our Laughing Place. com

"The Polynesian is absolutely wonderful: quite possibly the best resort in WDW. But don't be turned off by the price--I was able to snag a beautiful room in the Samoa longhouse (with a gorgeous view of the East Pool) for only $98 per night. Its all about persistence and timing!!" (posted March 2003)


If anyone can direct me to a place where you can get a room at the Poly for this price, please let me know now!!!

I can't begin to imagine that is anything other than a typo!! We have overflow rates thru Shades of Green and our rate is $174. I cannot seriously believe anyone got that unless they were somehow moved from a moderate or value due to some sort of Disney catastrophe, lol.

I believe this was about the time that they closed the POFQ for renovations. Those that had alraedy booked that property were given excellent rates to upgrade to deluxe properties.

Unless a situation arises in the future that requires Disney to change your hotel, do not expect to see this kind of rate again.

I would bet that ti was either when POFQ was closed or that was a rate from the late 70s! She posted it in 2003 but didn't say when the trip was.

They had to have been transferred. I've never seen rates posted that low for the Poly. In 2002 we got a room at the Poly for $89 a night - this was ONLY because we were originally reserved for the Caribbean Beach Resor for $79 a night but the closed it for renovations so we were upgraded to the Poly.

Yeah, I remembered when I went with my parents in the mid '80's and it was still about $149/night then.

When I subtracted the rate of $300something for the 3 length of stay ParkHopper Plus we booked the Poly with the 5+2 dreammaker pkg, and I figure we paid $100 a night at the poly, garden view... (app$1700 for those 7 nights, 8 days!)
