I *know* it's been asked before, but what dog food brand do you use?

Due to allergies, the only thing my Griffin can tolerate is Purina Lamb and Rice.

This is a subject very close to my heart.

Started Puggles out on Eukanuba. As I learned more about it, I didn't like the preservatives in it, so I switched to Flint River Ranch. I was very happy with it, until we found out all of the allergies that Prancer has. She couldn't tolerate many of the ingredients. Also, in time, Puggles developed a wheat allergy, so that was out for her, too.

Prancer's allergies are so extensive that I read about 6 dog nutrition books and developed my own dog food. I'd bake it about once a month for her. She'd get 1/2 c. in the morning and 1/2 c. of raw meat at night, so I called this a modified BARF diet. BARF means bones and raw food. I shared my recipe with my vet and he agreed that it was nutritionally balanced for her. He even gave the recipe to some other patients who couldn't find a commercially available food because of allergies. During this time, Puggles ate Nutro Lamb and Rice.

Then, one day as I was surfing to find something that would agree with her, I found Azmira Dog Food. They make an organic food that has none of the allergens that have plagued Prancer in the past. So, we've been using that for about 3-4 years now with much success. I get it online at www.petfooddirect.com. Both of my pugs eat that now.

Eukanuba, only because of his sensitive stomach. That is what the breeder fed him. When we tried to gradually switch to something cheaper it always upset his stomach. It all depends on the dog. If you do switch start adding the new brand in with the old and work your way to all new brand.

The Puggles get either Pro Plan Small Breed adult, or Natural Choice EZ to Digest. I also have tried Nutro, but didnt like that, and they hated Wellness. IAMS is to pricey, and Eukaneuba is too small pieces(I have dogs who tend to NOT chew). I need larger chunks for them.

We feed Indy solid gold puppy. It's great for animals with allergies, it's lamb based instead of being grain based.

Our golden has been on Solid Gold, Back to Basics and is now quite happy with California Natural Reduced Calorie Rice and Lamb. He doesn't do well with chicken or corn products. I add 1/2 can of french cut green beans to his kibble each meal.

The wonder Scots eat Purina EN formula (special gatro-intestinal blend because Mac has a high liver enzyme). Only available at the vet. Kinda expensive, but they love it. We watch Tipper's weight and when she gets a little too heavy, we mix some Purina OM (obesity formula) in the food. They are doing well on this, enjoy their food and have very shiny, glossy coats. Mac has allergies to dyes in certain foods, so we avoid any "colorful" treats as well.

My sister's dog eats a raw diet, which is the most natural diet for dogs. She buys it prepared, and I think that the brand that she uses is called Bravo. There are a lot of different raw diets out there, though. She used to use Steve's, which is the most well-known raw diet. Her dog started refusing to eat it when they changed something in their recipe, though.

Anyways, our vet recommends raw, and my sis's puppy does great health wise. Also, raw-fed dogs don't poop out all the filler that dogs fed commercial diets do. This means much less waste and much less smell

My two Standard Poodles are fed Bravo raw diet too. It's expensive as they are large dogs but is the most natural diet for dogs.
