I'm kind of Disney(ed) out. We have gone 2x this year. This past time we were at the park every day we were there but the day we left. I love Disney, but I really dont want to go again for like another 2years or so. We still have a free 1 day ticket to use by Nov 10, 2010 but I dont know I will even use that now. Its not that we dont like it, but we want a change of scenery for our next vacation. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way!!! Oddly this was only our 2nd trip to Disney as a family (so yes both trips were this year).

We did decide though that our next Disney trip would be a Disney Cruise. My husband (who is usually anticruise ship) was really impressed w/ the videos we saw, info we got and personal accounts from others on it, and HE TOLD ME that our next Disney trip would be a cruise because he wanted to try it out.

We have only been to Disney once as a family (five years ago). We are going again next year and while we might have liked to go more than that, I really can't imagine going over and over again, year after year. I think that would get a little boring and we would lose the magic. :confused3
Also, there are sooo many places to go and see, that even without Disney I don't know how we could fit them all in before the kids grow up and move on. We'd like to visit Virginia and Colonial Williamsburg. We'd like to see DC and possibly NYC. We'd to make an extended (think two weeks) trip to some of the National Parks out west. The kids would also like another Beach trip sometime. For a family who really can only afford one "major" trip every year or two, there's no way to do it all....
Enjoy your vacation wherever you go.

I love Disney, but once every 3 years is perfect for us!
Every year would be a little much, we're thinking of an Alaskian cruise for next year.

Well, we have been about 25 times over the past 2.5 years......DLR not WDW but still....I totally feel you....LOL We are taking a Disney break and planning a few tropical vacations instead. Hawaii & Mexico are high on our list. :)

We were thinking VA, DC, OH, GA, KY (somewhere in there) for our next vacation. It will be easier to do those as we are moving to TN in 6wks. Heck we might even go take a trip to Chatanooga/Gatlinburg since I've never done them (nor have our kids) in the 14yrs I lived there...LOL. Like someone else said we dont want to loose the magic, and we are getting close since we have seen/done everything pretty much. Heck by the 4th day we were doing half days at the parks...LOL. DH & I are wanting to do a couples get away this summer if our parents wouldnt mind watching the kids for like 4nights.

Yep, Disneyed-out here too. I went about twice a year since around 2001, but have no real desire to return anytime soon. Not much new to see at the moment, and no one to go with, so I may not return until 2011 .. or later. Strangely I don't even miss it. I am thinking of *gasp* vacationing in the Outer Banks this summer instead. This is the first year since 2000 that I am not renewing my annual pass.

Life moves on and interests change over time. Such is life!

I've been about 11 times since 2001, and I'm taking a break. No Disney in 2010 for us. Our next trip will be a 7 night cruise when DD18mo can use the kids club.

Here's a real sin: I want my next trip to WDW to be just me and DH. :lmao: I'd at least like one or two days in the park w/o them so we can tour commando style.

I hear you. We've had an AP for DLR for the past two years and have gone 1-2 times every 2 months. I planned a long trip for daughters' fall break. We thought we were being smart going during the low season but ended up with crowds, shortened hours and attractions under refurbishment. I told my hubby no more DL visits but he wants to go for our anniversary before our passes expire. Then my sister said that same weekend that the rest of the family would fly out for her son's birthday. So now even though I feel Disneyed out, I will be going two more times. I guess there certainly worse things in life I could be stuck doing.

I actually ENVY you at this point. I went once with friends in 2008(but not my husband or sons) and we just returned from a fabulous trip with my IL's (OFFSITE) as a family...and I cannot get enough!

I'm planning a trip for next Sept. but it can't get here soon enough and to be honest, I'm annoyed that it fills ALL my time and thought. I'm obsessed and kind of wish I could get it out of my system and move to something else b/c it's quite an expensive obsession!

WDW will always be there, I think it's great you can go off and do other things! Someday I'll do that as well, hopefully...or I'll just have to move to Orlando or buy a DVC.

^^^^ No flames from me either. :goodvibes May be your family is more of a once a year, or once every two years, type of family. :thumbsup2

I can tell you that the Disney cruise is an AWESOME experience. Your entire family will absolutely love it!!!! The kids will have a blast. We went on the Disney Magic in 2006 and had a fantastic vacation. Ours was a 7-Night Eastern Caribbean itineray with stops at St. Marteeen, St. Thomas/St. John, and of course 'heaven,' Castaway Cay! :cloud9: There is sooooooooooooooooo much to do on the Disney Magic for both the kiddos and the aduits. Go to wdw info. and search for 'personal navigators.' You'll see some of the Navigators listing the various on-board events and activities. There were so many excursions to choose from on port days, it was often difficult to choose what to do. I personally loved the days at sea the most, they were very relaxing! We are hoping to go on another Disney cruise in the future, this time we would like to experience the Disney Wonder. Oh btw, did you know the third and newest Disney ship to be added to their fleet will sail in 2011? It is called the Disney Dream and it's twice as big as the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. If you go to the disneycruise.com website, you'll be able to virtually explore the Disney Dream. Do spend some time on that website and of course explore the Disney Cruise Line forum here on the Disboards. You'll learn a lot about it before your cruise departure date.

If you have any questions about the Disney cruise, feel free to ask. We'll be happy to share anything you want to know. Have fun planning your first Disney Cruise!!!!

We have gone for a total of over 5 weeks this year and I am trying to fit in just ONE more week before our APs expire in Jan.

BUT

We plan to not go for a couple years after that.

DH isn't a Disney guy......but he induges me AND our APs include golfing (premium) so he goes and plays a round of golf with one or two of the boys while I stay in the parks!

I do have to say that if we don't make it in Jan I won't be overly bummed though.....we have had a LOT of Disney this year.

Dawn

We're also on the AP boat. We got them in August and between then and June 2010, we'll be there for 30 days. I can, very much, imagine we'll be ready for a break after our last trip...especially since it's the longest at 10 days. I don't think it's a sin to say you need a break. It's just not Disney World if you aren't feeling at least semi-magical, you know?

Thanks everyone.

Juliet my husband told me while we were there earlier this month that next time we actually do Disney World (and not the cruise) its JUST US. NO KIDS. So Yeah we are sinning there too...LOL. He said the same thing you said...he wants to go commando and not have to stop because someone is crying, etc. Not to mention riding rides TOGETHER and not swapping out. LOL.

I love, love, love, love Disney. But I also love seeing other places, too.

Our family goes to Disney every two or three years, and other places in between. For us, it keeps Disney extra special. I certainly respect families who choose to go every year... but less often works well for our family, and give us a chance to see some other wonderful things, too.

Just to clarify, the Dream is 50% larger than the Magic/Wonder. ;)
I can't wait to try that slide!

I know how you feel. We felt that way too but after you get this out of your system, took me 15 visits, YMMV, you start wanting something different.

You won't be disappointed with DCL! :goodvibes:cloud9:
It's everything you love about Disney but in a relaxing vacation. For us it's the ultimate, 1st class family vacation. It's my newest obsession and I don't think a single day has passed that I didn't think of cruising again.
The ship's horn is the ringtone on my cell. (It plays 'When You Wish Upon a Star'.):lovestruc
We've sailed on Carnival 3x and Royal Caribbean twice and DCL just fits us perfectly. I only wish I could afford the 'different' itineraries like Alaska, the Med, Panama Canal repo, etc.
I esp like that my parents/ILs can come too without the exhaustion of the parks, or needing scooters. You can be as busy as you want to be or just veg and relax.
The service is over the top, like dining servers that cut my son's meat so my food doesn't get cold. When I requested whole milk for my after dinner coffee instead of half n half, I didn't need to remind him again for the rest of the cruise. It was milk every time.
So many little things like that, it would take all day to list them.

Start planning EARLY! Best prices are always early booking. (Well, except for booking while onboard, feeding my obsession!) Prices only go up and rarely go down. If they do you can call for a price adjustment or have your TA do it. Also you get best selection of staterooms early on.

I love Disney, but I am holding off right now even though we could go over the holidays. We went for Halloween, as tradition seems to dictate, and I am afraid I'll be less than enthusiastic if we go right now. If we could go for the party, I think I would. I am the only one who has not been in my family, because the year we were to go, I was hospitalized. I begged DH to take the kids so they wouldn't miss out, but it has not been offered on a date that I could go since then. ANYWAY, I know what you mean. We are looking into a cruise for next summer. We'll see...
