I Know I'm Not The Only One...

We are up early and at the parks at opening on our park days...but we always take a few days (about a third of the time) to sleep in, rest, enjoy the pools, the other sites, etc.

I am obsessive about getting there early to avoid lines...and we stay late...but we work so hard and run around so much in real life that I love to have some real live rest days on vacation.

Late sleeper here. I'm in no hurry. We stay for a week, so we get to do everything we want to do (and more) every time we go. There's no point for us in getting up early, and being cranky and tired for all the attractions we'd get to see anyway by sleeping in and being rested.

OP, you are not alone. I can sleep at home. :) Then again, we don't go to bed at 1 a.m. either.

I'm like that little kid in the commercial---I'M TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!!!
Now that it's just DH and I, we don't have to fight the kids to get them ready. We're always up and ready to go!!!! :sunny:
CBR is beautiful at sunrise!!

I sleep in about half the time. Some mornings, I'm up e.a.r.l.y and am so anxious to get going, I probably annoy DH. Other mornings, I'm more relaxed. We also tend to be more late-night people - closing down the parks, evening EMH, going to PI/DTD, Jellyrolls, nightcap at a lounge. And we don't usually break during the day. So, that catches up with me and I need more sleep.

We're also selective. To see Soarin' for the first time, we were there for Epcot open. We'll do the same on our next trip for our DAK day to get fastpasses for EE. We've seen everything at MK, so we take it easy on our MK day.

I can see all this changing when we do have kids, and it's more than just the two of us.

Thanks for that information about CBR...we're staying there for the first time this year...can't wait!!!!

:rotfl: LOL! We are always there to await the turnstiles being opened in the morning!!! Nothing beats getting to the park just before they open!!! :thumbsup2 DH and I always did this pre-kid and we happen to have 2 dd's that don't sleep very much and are up by 5am normally, so it wasn't difficult getting to the parks early when we went with them.... I figure if you want sleep-you can do that on the plane there and back!!! :rotfl: (well "I" can't with 2 little ones-but anyone else can!!! :rotfl: ) can't wait to go again in Sept!!!! :thumbsup2

I'm getting up early. As the saying goes "I will get plenty of sleep when I'm dead." I'd much rather get up early than stand in the long midday lines.

No way, when I am on vacation I am taking it easy. It's bad enough I have to wake up early every day for school or work. But, at least at Disney World, there is something worth waking up early for. But my parents are the same exact way. They are there at rope drop, and stick it out until the park closes. I understand the mentality, just cant do it myself.

As Mickey says up and attem there is alot to do. :sunny:

All the planning and expenses to get there and then sleep in NEVER. :thumbsup2

Hi!
The alarm is going off at 5:45! We feel that we can not miss a single minute of this place!! Even the nights that we shut down the parks at 2:00, we were still up at 6:00.

Anyway, my teenage boys can have plenty of sleeping time on the drive home!!

We are going for 8-days

4 days for early entries
and
4 days for sleeping in

the best of both worlds.

Count our family in as getting our money's worth at WDW. We never sleep in and always close the parks down. We could never see ourselves even missing an hour of going to the parks. Thats why we come. :goodvibes

We're early risers, too. Really, for us it's no big deal. We have to get up at 5:30 am every day to go to work, and at WDW we don't have to get up until 7:00 (we avoid EMH). It only takes us about 45-50 minutes to get ready and eat a quick, light breakfast (usually muffins or granola bars) and we're out the door and at the bus stop for our chosen park buy 8:00. We usually take an afternoon break about 1:00, take about a 30 minute to one hour nap, then hit the parks again at 4:00 until close. We've found that doing this, we can do the parks every day for a 10 day vacation and not run out of gas before the end of the trip.

I guess it helps that we have no kids in tow. :lmao:

Ditto for us. While I am in the shower or drying my hair, my hubby runs up to the Pepper Market and gets us some breakfast. So by the time he comes back I am ready. So we kill 2 birds with 1 stone :)

When we go with the kids we are at the parks before they open, but this trip is just us and I am not sure how I will get DH out of bed early. I know we will take the actual time in the parks slow, and do all those things that the kids usually rush us by.

Only time I've ever slept in was on my honeymoon last year and I had food poisoning. And actually, I didn't sleep in. I got up, and went to the buses, but quickly realized, a day at the park with my head in the toilet wouldn't be fun.

Well my solution to this was to keep staying longer (every year it gets longer). :confused3 :smooth: I do like to sleep in some mornings and wake up and have the hotel door open enjoying the smell of Florida smells. :p Go to IHOP or Waffle House after all the early risers have shoved down their breakfast to get to the parks early,LOL. :drinking1 Give our bodies some days to sleep. When I 1st did WDW the AK wasn't there yet but we had 4 day tickets. So we'd get up early all 4 days and stay at the parks until close. Now we pick a day to do which parks and other days to do meals, shopping, sleep-ins and pool only days. Now when doing all WDW parks, DTD (Disney quest), 2 water parks, universal 3 days, sea world, that takes 11 days. So my trip this year was for 23 days, I just made it 30. :rolleyes1 I like to just be in florida and look at all the disney signs and items in the malls and stores, I need an extra disney fix with all the trimming while I'm there. :wizard: :cheer2: :cloud9: But to come back needing 3 days sleep, with my phone ringing from everyone saying "how was your trip" :furious: and the boss knowing your home and call you when 3 staff members call out  and you feel bad if they call you in while your withdrawaling and sleep from disney and don't go in. I'd rather be sleeping in @ WDW, thanks,LOL :sunny: :woohoo:

We're up early, we can sleep in when we get back home. Since we go during the summer, we like to be out and about early and get on as many attractions as possible before the heat and crowds build... :goodvibes

We never sleep in. I think it has something to do with the fact we have two excited elementary school-age kids who are too excited to stay in the room a single extra moment. :rotfl: We are the kind of family that gets started early at the parks and stays until they run us out at night. We do sometimes take afternoon breaks back at the resort.

We do other types of vacations for relaxing. We are going to the beach this summer for a week. You can bet there will be some late mornings then. But when we go to WDW in January, not so much.
