I have been so tied up with my daughter's wedding.. planning it...getting aggravated when people do not return phone calls.. etc.. *sigh*..but I do want you to know that I am reading and enjoying all your posts.. Hugs to us all and hopefully we will have some answers soon.. I hope.. I hope..

Weddings can be such a joy, but a source of great frustration. By the time the "big day" actually get here everyones nerves are shot. :)

When is the wedding?

Hi, Marsha! Was wondering what you've been up to. I haven't had to go through the wedding thing myself, yet. And, as the mother of three boys, I understand it won't be as nerve wracking. But I have watched a few of my friends plan weddings for their daughters, so I have an idea of what you're dealing with. Here's a little wedding pixie dust to help you through the rough spots. :D

Ugh! Weddings are wonderful events.......to attend! :D Planning them is a whole different story....so I've been told. :o With 4 DD's of my own, I am taking any and all tips offered. :D

Hang in there Marsha. I would tell you to 'not worry about it', but I don't think I could 'practice what I preach' (LOL) so all I can say is, Be Good To Yourself. Don't let the 'uglies' get you down. Just think of the end product....and all the lovely pictures....and all the lovely memories. :) :) :) Oh yes, and even the 'little problems' will make great stories (and even some laughs) someday down the road. ;)

When is your DD getting married?

Weddings are a wonderful thing......when you DW is a florist. I say "Bring 'em on!!!"

Marsha - All this hard work will be worth it. Hang in there. :)

That's why I'm not letting my 3 girls date!! I won't be able to take the stress!

Thanks for asking.......Let's see, I have 3 daughters...and this is my first...Her wedding is September 21.. this year. This is the website of where it will be.. : http://www.bcae.org/gambleframe.html .... The hard part of this is you rent the Mansion on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston and you need to do everything else separate..the caterer, the liquor, the flowers..Towncrier I wish your Wife was here, believe me. pictures, music, the church..it is neverending. Because it is right in the Copley Sq. area of Boston, we are having trolleys take the guests from the Boston Public Garden to the Church in Charlestown (Bunker Hill), MA.. and back to the reception.. it is just easier, parking is a nightmare in Boston, never mind driving.

The nice part is the rental of the mansion helps to support the Boston Center for Adult Education and many other programs during the day.. so in essense it is a school for continuing education.. that is cool..

Just a quick story..the florist I have used for many years..over 25 I would say was to do the flowers.. We had an appointment the other day.. Sometimes it is just better to do business with strangers.. We showed up for the appt.. my daughter and I, books in hand, material from the bridesmaids dresses to coordinate.. and they all sort of snickered but no one would make eye contact.. The owner came out and said she was far too busy to meet with us...that she had left a message for me.. and that she had a huge funeral.. I understood.. but she said some other things that she should not have said, like death comes first, and that was disconcerting... I did understand...but to say that to the bride whose wedding you were planning to do does make one wonder if there is a funeral on the weekend you get married, what will happen then.. Hence the remark to Towncrier about his wife being a florist, it would be nice, knowing TC, to use her.. *sigh*

The other thing I was going to say is when they are wooing you for you to hire them.. they are so receptive, attentive, etc.. you get my drift.. once they get your deposit, then they do not return your phone calls... answer your emails and this is the frustrating part of planning a wedding.. Not all are like this.. the store that did the invitations.. OMG, they were wonderful... Mother and daughter team and they have been a ray of light in this whole thing.. helping us all the way.. Thank God for people like that..

So bear with me. I am here checking everyday and doing what I should be doing elsewhere and waiting just as you all are too... Hugs to all...

What a beautiful place for a wedding. You should be able to make some wonderful memories.

Best wishes and pixie dust to getting everything together.

The ballroom looks like a castle setting. It makes me think of all those Tiaras that you guys wear.

This looks lovely, Marsha!

How about an afternoon at DIS Con2 to look at the pictures?
I look forward to hearing more about the wedding as the time draws near!!:)

The place is way cool. Ok, I was nosey and drove by it a while back when I was in Boston..pretty classy. I love the trolley idea so cool, especially in Boston. I know wedding planning is a hard thing, had two and did it by myself eachtime, it can be nerve wracking to say the least, because you want it all to be perfect.

We know you are around Marsha, and will let us know info when you get it. ENjoy planning and hope everything goes easy and well from now on. Do we get pictures of the dress???

What a beautiful place for a wedding. Looks like a fairytale setting. :)

Looks beautiful Marsha. Weddings in Boston are beautiful. My sister got married on Sept. 21 a few years back and had her pictures taken at Post Office Square. Absolutely gorgeous!!! We just had 2 family weddings in Boston with trolley rides included, it was great, especially since it is so hard to park my Suburban in town!!!! WE have another family wedding in Boston this summer and can't wait!!

Being a guest is wonderful, planning is another thing. Wishing you the best. I'll heed any advice you have since I have 3 DD's of my own!!

BTW, did you get the Daily Item yesterday??? DD was on the sports page for her 1st place finish in cheerleading... I am one proud mom...

My best friend had her wedding here! We did the reception and the wedding in the ball room, just moved everyone outside for the receiving line while the caterer transfored the room into a reception hall! I loved it! Great location!

Have a great time!

Hi Marsha,

Glad to hear from you, but understand you've been real busy. I've kinda been in the same boat lately, but certainly not with a wedding. ;) Sending some PD your way and I hope all goes well for you.

Sending lotsa hugs and smoochies!

That place your daughter is getting married looks beautiful. Don't stress out too much and try to enjoy some of it!

Thanks Uncle Kyle for the words of advice.. I am trying to enjoy it.. but there is lots to do..

But on a positive note, we met with a new florist yesterday who we both liked and seemed to not get ruffled and would handle it perfectly..Although parking in Charlestown, MA (Bunker Hill and right near Olive's Restaurant (Todd English's famous bistro), I got a $30 ticket from a meter maid....UGH!!! We are meeting with two more and will make a decision soon... It has to be someone who can get the job done without making us stressed..

Marsha, wishing you much luck with the new florist. I know in the end, it will be worth all the aggravations and annoyances. A very good friend of mine is a florist, and while she's a bit more expensive than some of the other local establishments, I would go with her just because I know I can work with her and she would work with me. Keeping my fingers crossed you'll have a new florist in no time. :)
