I know about Silver Lake, but would anyone recommend Silver Points??

Got thru to them on the phone. Silver Points is the new section and the square footage about 1500. Its new and rents for the same as the rest of the resort (they don't distiquish for rentals) for the 3 bedroom condo (villas are the older ones and are larger). The rental is $219/night so I think you have a tremendous deal on 7 nights in a brand new 3 bedroom condo close to Disney. And, as an added bonus, the parks will be slow. What a deal!

was just checking the rci site and they have bonus vacations for Silver Lake Resort Silver Points listed for the 3 bedrooms at 346.49$

this is for dates

dec 3
dec 10
dec 17

in same listing they have 1 bedroom dec 17 and two bedroom dec 17 for the same price 346.49$

seeing them there in the bonus section, makes me think they will be offering similar "week times" on Skyauction coming up, and if they go like they have been in the past couple of days ....they will be "low bids"

right now the bid which closes at 3:00 pm today is at 1$

they seem to be having ONE of these auctions for the 3 bedroom units at Silver Lake Points each day .....right now for the date of dec 3

ALSO,

do a search on disboards for "silver points" it should bring up a thread where we posted some information we "found" about the silver points units

once people stay there and start to post their "rave" reviews, this might become a more precious commodity on skyauction......

mom

that is the way i interpret it...

since the condo is for 10

the silver lake resort silver points are listed as 3 bdr for 10

On their site, when it says "villa", it is the older section (meaning Silver Lake), and when it says "condo", it is the newer section (meaning Silver Points)??

I wouldn't say that for sure. I think there have been several stages to building. I'd say Silver points is definately the condos with the sleep 10 arrangement b/c the newer buildings are condos. I don't think "condo" necessarily means you would be in newer silver points section. I do think winning a silver points auction means you will get a condo that sleeps 10 in the newer section of silver lake.

Ok. I guess that's all that matters......if you want the newest section, the auction has to say Silver Points.

And the newer section has elevators, right? Are there any "old" sections that have elevators?

We'll be staying at Silver Points through Skyauction in about a month, so I can post some info when we return. I read somewhere on the boards here that Silver Points is the new section, so that's why I gave it a shot, along with being so close to AK.

From my understanding, there should be three kings and two sofa beds in the three-bedroom (two-bedroom plus one-bedroom lockoff) unit, with I think five TV's. I know I've read a comment from someone that there are plasma TV's, but we'll see. I'm sure there's a full kitchen with washer/dryer in the two-bedroom part, and maybe even a partial kitchen in the second lockoff unit. Either that or I believe it's a two-bedroom with a "hotel room" type of lockoff, just bedroom/bath. Either way - tons of space for a $250 or less a week! We're really looking forward to it, so I hope everything turns out like I expect.

We will also be checking into Silver Lake-Silver Points very soon, next Saturday :) Our confirmation does specify the Silver Points section, and when I called to verify our reservation I was assured that a confirmation in SP means the new section. I have had contact with someone that traded there that the check-in agent tried to place in the older section. She had to stand her ground a little bit, but did stay in the new section. Her review of the property was very favorable.

I am calling the resort Wed-Thur next week to let them know we are coming a day late and I plan to ask what our building assignment is then.

I have to say, at this point I'm not worried which section we stay in as much as I hope the resort weathers hurricane Jeanne without any major damage.

After we return, I'll post a review.

We got our week through www.afvclub.com it was $249.

Hi Madge - hope you have a great trip! Also hope Jeanne is the last for Florida this year - the last couple months have been awful for them.

A quick question - did you receive a unit number assignment when booking through afvclub? We received a unit number when booking through skyauction, so I hadn't planned on calling to verify the reservation.

I did not, at least not that I can tell...I got a resort information sheet in the mail, and nothing more. The printout I made when I reserved the unit online was more comprehensive, with a confirmation number and unit description. It's been 2 years since we rented through www.afvclub.com so I don't remember if that is standard for that program.

Since I have to call to alert them of our Saturday arrival (we booked a Friday week) anyway, I figured that I'd just ask about the unit assignment. Under the circumstances, I'd be making a call to check on the resort after the hurricane :(
