Primary care Dr, said, back to the nerosurgeon.... waitng for them to call with my app. still holding out hope that they wont need to do surgery AGAIN...on my back .. i know i can live in pain after all i told her i did it for many years before my first surgeryy , Dr. just looked at me and said here is your referal... hmmmmm who side is she on? I feel like i am on a big wheel that just keeps stoping at the same point....

Hope you can avoid another surgery. It's pain either way...which I hate for you. I had ankle surgery last Feb and still have pain. I'm on for gallbladder surgery next week and I need an MRI for my neck but I'm holding off on that...I have to pace myself. I only had one previous surgery a c-section so I'm feeling old these days. Good luck at your appt.

I do understand your pain...

I had my first back surgery last year. It was such a huge relief! But, I still have back pain. My neuro said that I have to remember that I got a weaker back, not a new one and that I need to know my limits and know when my back is giving me the "signals" to slow down.

In my experience, unless you are showing signs of significant nerve damage (i.e. numbness and muscle weakness) they probably won't do the surgery if you don't really want them to...I read your previous post but don't remember if you had any of that...

Huckster, are they maybe thinking of a fusion? I had my lower spine fused a few years ago. I wish the doctor had been more forthcoming with info. Alot of stuff I learned the hard way - after the fact! My biggest piece of advice is if they are talking about fusion and grafting bone, do not let them graft your own bone - use donor bone. Some of my worst pain (and the arthritis, the osteporosis, etc) is from my hip which is the site of the graft.
