The car that is....
My husbands car. It was a 1990 Geo, that we bought a few (going on 4 ) years ago, for $1000.
He needed a car to get to work, since there were no public transportation options.
I was driving home from my job, and going up the hill, I smell something... burning!
I attempt to downshift, and the clutch isn't working
Then I just get enough to go up the hill, and then coast down and manage to get into a closed gas station... WHEW!
A police officer was in the gas station. He was very very sweet and nice.
DH got estimates for new clutch, and they are ran into the $400-600 range. (Three different mechanics and a junkyard/salvage place that does repairs) It was already iffy, so I didn't technically break it....
So today, we are calling to donate it. The organization said it didn't have to run, but they could fix it if need be.
So now, we are back to a one car family again. We did it for 8 years, back to doing it again!
