I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

Amazing updates. I loved the safari pictures, especially the baby rhino and gorilla.

So sorry you missed the FOTLK. Dave and I saw it in September for the first time in years. It is always wonderful.

You know I have heard great things about Nemo but I really liked Tarzan and miss it. Ohhhh okay I admit it it was more about staring at Tarzan than watching the show. :rotfl:

I have a Canon Rebel too and am a little nervous about taking pics at Disney after seeing some that people have put on here that are absolutely amazing! I've never done night shots before and don't know how well that will go :goodvibes

No worries about the Rebel. My DH and I shoot weddings professionally. We have a 5D mark ii, a 40D, and my trusty rebel. Now the other two cameras are faster than the rebel but the rebel is light weight and takes great pictures. just play with the settings and if you get a chance practice on 4th of july fireworks at home. :)

Really superb photos of the safari. Enjoying your trip report. Pooh on your DH for being a spoil-sport when he forgot his room key.

You got some gorgeous photos on the safari! And the baby gorilla--WOW! So amazing! Looks like something you'd see in National Geographic! :worship:

So sorry you missed seeing FOTLK. Can't wait to hear about your DIS meet!

Oh the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The baby, the baby!

Seriously, those pictures made my night. Jeff's too! We oohed and aahed!

I'm so gld you both enjoyed seeing the baby G. I remember looking at him/her and thinking - Is she breathing??????

How is it possible that when someone else forgets something, WE are to blame?

:confused3

That is a question I frequently ask myself! :rolleyes1

I was so disappointed in March that we missed seeing the baby! Thanks to you beautiful pictures I feel like I've seen her up close :goodvibes

Do you know how long she has been out in public? I think the Safari CM said it had only been about a week. So that would make her release sometime in late April. Does that sound right?

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to take pictures of her every other day or so?

Those baby pictures are amazing!!! What luck that you saw her just fast asleep in the straw!!! You know, I wasn't really planning on doing the walking trails when we are there, but you just changed my mind!

Looking forward to the youtube videos!

Thanks CP. I really didn't realize how cool the trails are. I need to do the bat trail (isn't that Connor's favorite?). I do feel pretty lucky that I found the baby so up close and personal.

The baby is SO sweet :lovestruc I'm sorry you missed FOTLK...Denny, Denny, Denny :sad2:

Hmm...a Dismeet  That must be exciting!

Remember how I couldn't find him again after I met up with you? Yes - Dismeets Rock! :thumbsup2

What breathtaking pictures of the baby!!!! I did get a glimpse of her in May but not up close...she is just so beautiful!!

I can't believe I was able to get her so up close and personal. I really lucked out.

Like the pictures in front of Mt. Everest

Thanks!

Ughh to Denny losing the room key...I would have had a small meltdown too!!!

YAY a DISMEET!! Can't wait!!!

I was most upset about missing FOTLK. But, yeah, it was a little melty. I can't remember what I said, but I'm sure I said something not all that kind!!!!

DISMEET is next update!

What wonderful baby pics!!!

Oh the forgotten key, we have gone to GS a couple of times due to this! They are simply wonderful!

Glad you like the baby pics and GS was great. They are very nice and very efficient. I don't know why I didn't think to go straight there.

Those are precious pictures of the Baby G! How cute. :cutie:

Thank you. Baby G was adorable!

I'm glad you have found a medication that works for you. :thumbsup2

That stuff is so great!!!!! And I see that shocker found a picture to go with my testimonial!

Denny, Denny, DENNY! What are we going to do with him? :scared:

I ask myself this on a regular basis!

Awwww, such sweet pictures of the baby gorilla! :goodvibes

Sorry you missed out of FOTLK, it's such a great show. :sad2:

:

Glad you like the pics - she was so sweet!

I really need to see FOLTK in September. Looks like I will be spending some extra time in AK during that trip!

Even before I read her post above, I was going to guess that your DIS meet was with Katie - I knew she was going to EMHs that night, assuming that she didn't drink too many margaritas earlier in the day that is........

Katie is hard core. She went ALL day that day without a break. I was in awe. :worship: So if she had too many margaritas it sure didn't stop her!

Oh my...that baby gorialla is just too adorable for words. Dennis, Dennis, Dennis--what are we going to do with you? ;) I'm sorry you missed FOTLK; we've never seen it and I keep saying one of these trips we're going to make it there before it disappears.

That baby was the bomb!

Ditto the comment I made to LL regarding Denny!!!!

Maybe September will be your first time seeing FOTLK. I love when they sing "the Lion sleeps tonight". WEEEEE WEO WEO WEOBUMBAWAY!!!! :rotfl:

Such amazing pictures of the baby gorilla!! :worship:

Thanks. I was so excited to get those pics. I will always treasure the close up pic.

Denster... what are we going to do with you??
:rotfl::rotfl: This seems to be the most popular question of the evening! :rolleyes1
More Updates Coming UP!!!!!!

This is a Group Welcome to my New Readers.......:welcome:

Thanks for joining in. So sorry I can't get to all my replies right now. But I promise to get back with more replies as soon as I can. Thanks to everyone who dropped by!!!!!! :cool1:party:

Oh Mary Ellen, you flatter me. Seriously, this was the night I realized I couldn't keep going at the rate I had been. I was dragging a bit when we met, got REALLY tired at dinner with Tracy and hit the wall big time the next day (hense the dinner cancellation :guilty:)

Oh My Goodness! Baby gorilla! WOW!!! Those pics are amazing! What a little cutie!!!

I'm thinking we need to try align in this house!! Where did you buy it?! I used to get IBS really bad off and on, but since I had my thyroid removed and gotten my levels at a constant good place it's been almost (stress almost) a none issue! It's amazing how one little organ can throw your whole body off! DH is really bad! Hence his early exit from Boma! Anytime new, different, too much, too rich, too fried, too cheesy etc go in it gets ugly!!!

I would have blown my top over the KTKK card thing! Really?! How was it your fault?! UGH! Men!!!!

:worship::worship:Maryellen those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!!
Your safari pictures: the giraffes.....just wow!!! And the one that the giraffe looks like a giant....love it!! You are going to be buying a lot of frames for your masterpieces!! :thumbsup2
Probiotics rule! I don't know what I take but I know I keep them in the refrigerator to keep the little microorganisms fresh :rotfl2: My chiropractor suggested them to me awhile back :goodvibes
Ohhhh Denny :rotfl2:

Tracy

Awww, the baby gorilla is so cute! :) I loved your pics of Everest too, when you take pictures of it, it actually looks like you're taking pictures of some foreign land! When I take pictures of AK, it just looks like a theme park! :rotfl:

My 13 y/o son has ADD. It took years of counseling and erratic behavior patterns to finally get a diagnosis. My DH and I had to "persuade" his teachers and doctor that something was wrong and it was not just normal defiant behavior that he was exhibiting. When he was finally put on Straterra for the ADD and Lexapro for the anxiety and depression, he totally turned around. I can honestly say, I could not remember seeing him laugh before. He turned from an angry kid whose mind was constantly "clouded" into a happy kid who can actually remember things now and enjoy life. I never wanted my child on medication either but there are some kids who need it. Good luck with your child. I hope you see as much improvement as I did with mine.

:welcome: smartkim! Thanks for joining into my TR. And thanks for sharing your son's struggle with ADD. It's so great to hear how much better he is doing with the right medication. I know what you mean about medication. Your instinct is to say "No", but when there is a chemical imbalance than there really is no other answer than medication. Thanks again for sharing your story and I hope you will continue to read along!!!!

p,s, Sorry it took me so long to responde. I read your post right away, but I was super busy all day yesterday so I am getting to it first thing this morning! :flower3::flower3:

align.jpg

Thanks for the picture Shocker. Now anyone who wants to experience the benefits of Align knows just what to look for in their neighborhood pharmacy. If you really end up liking it, go to costco or amazon. Much cheaper.

Subscribing...Love it so far!:cheer2:

:welcome: disnewbie108! And welcome to the Dis boards. :thumbsup2 This is a great community of folks and you can learn so much here. I hope you continue to read along!!!!!!!

Thanks Dallas. I'm so glad you enjoyed the pics and FOTLK is definitely on my must do list for September!

I liked Tarzan, too! I only saw it once but I remember that the singing was superb! And Tarzan wasn't too bad looking either! ;)

Disclaimer: I am writing these replies at work and still have some discharges to do. So I will be back later to finish up and I apologize again if I have not responded to your post yet. I hate to be tardy!! :rotfl:

Good advice with the fireworks suggestion. We are actually going to fireworks tomorrow night and I think I will bring my camera along.

What suggestions do you have for nighttime soccer pictures???? I would like to start taking them at my sons' games this fall. Should I get some type of light attachment? I know nothing about photography. It's all trial and error, but you must know a lot about lighting if you shoot weddings.

Really superb photos of the safari. Enjoying your trip report. Pooh on your DH for being a spoil-sport when he forgot his room key.

:welcome: benolathe! I am so glad you enjoyed the safari pictures. Thanks for joining in on my TR.

As far as my DH - yeah - he really irritated me that night and for the rest of the trip he was responsible for his OWN room key!

You got some gorgeous photos on the safari! And the baby gorilla--WOW! So amazing! Looks like something you'd see in National Geographic! :worship:

So sorry you missed seeing FOTLK. Can't wait to hear about your DIS meet!

Wow - Thanks Denise! That is one awesome compliment on my pictures!

I vow to see FOTLK next trip and I WILL have the pictures to prove it.

DIS meet coming up in next update! :thumbsup2

Katie, I am not surprised you hit the wall. That's why I wasn't too upset when you canceled dinner! I knew you had to be feeling the strain to give up Ohana's. I knew that was an ADR you really wanted. And honestly, that dinner was sooooooooo long to the point of being annoying. It would have been fun to see you guys, but if I was getting antsy by the end of the dinner, you would have been dying. I just wanted to get into MK before it closed.

Oh My Goodness! Baby gorilla! WOW!!! Those pics are amazing! What a little cutie!!!

Isn't that baby adorable????? Truly one of the highlights of my trip!!!!!! It doesn't get any better than that!

I got the Align as samples from my GI doc (who I see at work on a regular basis). Even before I finished the samples I knew I has to buy more. I ordered it off of Amazon. I ordered enough to qualify for free shipping. They had some awesome deal where it was almost half price. Then I just bought more with a Costco coupon so I have enough for the next several months!!!! If you or your DH tries it, let me know what you think. It's like a miracle for me. Night and Day!~

I would have blown my top over the KTKK card thing! Really?! How was it your fault?! UGH! Men!!!!

I wanted to blow my top. My DH used the line like, "Well, if you weren't going to take care of the card ALL of the time, then don't take care of it at all". :headache: You can guess where that conversation went from there. Needless to say, I did not handle the card after that!

:worship::worship:Maryellen those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!!
Your safari pictures: the giraffes.....just wow!!! And the one that the giraffe looks like a giant....love it!! You are going to be buying a lot of frames for your masterpieces!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Tracy. I think I will make one of those books with my pictures. That will be my next project after I finish my TR. I still don't have all the pics edited yet. I do it in stages as I get to the part in the TR.

:Probiotics rule! I don't know what I take but I know I keep them in the refrigerator to keep the little microorganisms fresh :rotfl2: My chiropractor suggested them to me awhile back :goodvibes
Ohhhh Denny :rotfl2:

Tracy

Really? That's interesting! It's also interesting that your chiropractor suggested them. Holistic medicine - there are so many advantages to it. I have to say that the two best things I take are:

Vitamin D (1000 unit -2000 units a day)
Probiotics

:worship: I worship them both cause I feel so much better when I take them!

Ohhhh Denny...... :upsidedow]

Awww, the baby gorilla is so cute! :) I loved your pics of Everest too, when you take pictures of it, it actually looks like you're taking pictures of some foreign land! When I take pictures of AK, it just looks like a theme park! :rotfl:

That baby G was amazing. I wonder what he/she looks like now?

Honestly - my pictures were really nothing special when I first started taking them. Then I saw some amazing pics in people's TRs ( my inspiration was LL and Paula - who I never see anymore :sad1:) and I realized that the picture is all in the subject matter. It's looking at some small detail and focusing on it instead of the "big picture". It's just a different way of looking at the subject. Then suddenly - the pictures come to life. Just start taking pictures of things that you would normally see as background and you will be so surprised with what you get.

After I got better at subject matter then I bought the new camera to really enhance it and now its soooooo fun!

As you probably recall, Denny left his room key IN the room and it was an EMH night, so we really needed that room key. While Denny was at guest services acquiring a new room key, I was taking a few pictures....... (for a change..lol)

And what's a light fixture without more editing........

IMG_3837.jpg

While I was taking pictures I got a text from Katie that said she was getting ready to ride Dinosaur. I thought it might be fun to get over there in time to surprise her getting off the ride.

I took a few more pictures before I headed in that direction....

IMG_3839.jpg

IMG_3841.jpg

IMG_3842.jpg

I actually don't remember if I took the TOL pictures before we left the park in the afternoon. If so, then they are out of order in photobucket.

Denny stopped to use the restroom over near dinosaur, but I kept walking in to the exit hoping I could get there in time to see Katie. I hung out for a bit and then realized I missed her. A picture from my trip over to dinosaur.....

IMG_3844.jpg

IMG_3845.jpg

Katie texted me again that she was out near Primevil whirl....on a bench.....I walked around in a big circle and I still couldn't find her. :rolleyes1 OK - I was feeling like a dork now. I knew that Tracy was hear too, but where the heck where they.........

Oops.....I almost tripped over them. There they were, sitting on a bench.

IMG_3848.jpg

Tracy still had her "slushy - lushy" tag. How I wanted one of those!!!! But I presently did not qualify!

Once we chatted for a minute or too I realized that Denny was missing. I tried to give him directions to find us, but he ended up over in Asia with Chuck and Cathy (who were now finished watching FOTLK).

Katie, Tracy and I rode the primevil whirl. I enjoy this ride, but I always think the line should mover MUCH FASTER!

Next up - EE. We headed in the direction of Asia. Here's where I had another DOH moment. I was really looking forward to riding EE at night. Seems that I miss most of AKs EMHs because I go on "short trips". It can be difficult to catch EE on a 4 or 5 night trip. I was so happy that I finally was in the world for a late EMH. (I did manage to hit one last June, but we didn't ride EE cause we thought it might be too scary for LJ. If you read that TR, you know how how wrong I was about that!)

For some reason I thought tonight's EMH would include some "dark" time. It did not. DOH.....EMH was from 5 - 8pm and it was May!!!!! It doesn't get dark by 8pm in May. Double DOH! What the heck was I thinking?

So, EE, "the dark ride", will just have to wait until September. It should certainly be dark by 8pm in September!!!!!!!

We had met up with Chuck, Cathy, and Denny by this point. Being the good tour guide I am (you must admit - I have been doing a pretty stellar job), I realized that there wasn't much time left in the park and that Cathy and Chuck had not seen Bug's Life. I made an executive decision to go there and I was pretty happy that Katie and Tracy wanted to go, too. You have to admit - even though I am sure we all have done Bug's Life a zillion times, it is nice to experience a first timer's reaction to the creepy crawly ending. :rolleyes1

After Bug's Life it was almost park closing time. Katie and Tracy had an ADR at Jiko and Chuck,Cathy, Denny, and I were going to Saana. But not before we got a Dis group shot......

IMG_3851.jpg

I've got photopass shots, too but I am need of a major photobucket upload.

So....off to dinner we go. I was really looking forward to Sanaa, especially since I finally learned how to pronounce it properly from listening to Ellen say it. But I was bummed that there would be no African wine pairings for me.

We arrived right on time after winding our way through the Kidani underground parking (eewwhh - hate that parking lot). We were offered a seat at the bar. I just stood over to the side, because staring face to face with that many bottles of alcohol was causing me to have an anxiety attack. Fortunately we were quickly seated and we ordered the bread for an appetizer.....

IMG_3852.jpg

Can I just say that this bread was DE - LI- CIOUS!!!!!! What yummy goodness. I can't believe what dips we got, but they were all heavenly. So far I was really loving Sanaa.

Because I would NOT be drinking (in case anyone still had any doubt), I ordered a smoothie.......

IMG_3853.jpg

I must refer to allearsnet for the actual type, but it was really good.

Dinner for Cathy and I was the sustainable fish. I remember Ellen saying how much she enjoyed hers. It was an Atlantic chard in a broth a vegetables. It was so wonderfully flavorable. Ellen was 100% correct. This entree was super delicious and I regret that I do not have a picture to show you.

Dessert was next. And did you know that Sanaa actually includes Coffee with their dessert - no charge? How cool is that? We were all thankful for a little caffiene because our full bellies were making us long for a villa in Kidani as opposed to a trek back to WL.

Here are a couple of our dessert choices.....

IMG_3858.jpg

IMG_3857.jpg

I also took some pictures of the restaurant.....

IMG_3854.jpg

IMG_3855.jpg

IMG_3856.jpg

We were one of the last few tables with customers at 10pm. A CM manager even came by to ask us how our meal was. We said it was our new most favorite restaurant and that we would definitely be back!

Here is my smoothie:

Mango Lassi Smoothie - frozen blend of mango puree with nonfat yogurt $4.69

If you go to Saana make sure you order:

Indian Style Bread Service
Choice of 3 breads and 3 accompaniments
Serves Two $8.99

Breads - Naan, Onion Kulcha, Paratha, Paneer Paratha

Accompaniments - Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Green Mango Pickle, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, Tamarind Chutney

My entree: (just a hint of curry - not overpowering, barely knew it was there)

Today's Sustainable Fish - served with seasonable vegetables in a light curry broth $18.99

What I didn't have.....

Sanaa Wine Story

Each food item on the menu is paired with a specific food friendly wine. In some cases there is more than one wine listed. The wine which is listed at the top is regarded as the most favored match. However, everyone's palate is unique and therefore there are additional wines suggested which work equally well in the pairing. We have created some special wine flights for you to enjoy from an assortment around the world. These flights highlight unique components and style which best compliment the flavors contained within each dish.

Dinner was definitely a winner. Closer to a signature restaurant than many of the other places to eat. Really great food, great wait staff, and beautiful surroundings.

We rolled out of there. We had considered going to the Jambo House for a quick tour and possibly some night vision animal viewing, but we were all just too darn tired.

So we went to the savannah outside of Kidani. There wasn't much to see but the fire pit:

IMG_3862.jpg

The last few pictures I took when we got back to WL. We walked back with our drink mugs and stopped outside to admire the waterfall:

AAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK

What a fun fun afternoon and I love the edited picture of the light fixture and flowers, I'd frame it and put it in my powder room!

Too funny about EE in the dark.

I am SO excited to try Sanaa!

Sounds like a great evening! We've never been to Sanaa and I don't think I've even seen pics before. It looks gorgeous! Glad you enjoyed your meal!

I'm hoping you went for the Idol audition :goodvibes

I'm going to have to steal that picture you took of me and Tracy!

I agree with what you said about Primeval Whirl. It sure seemed like it took forever to get on that ride but the line didn't look that long :confused3 But it was fun chatting about our trips while we waited so it was good :thumbsup2

You meal at Saana sounds like fun. You almost have convinced me to put it on my to-try list. The desserts look Delish!

Hurray for meeting Tracy and Katie! Great pictures of the two of them and the three of you!

Thank you! :thumbsup2

Too funny about EE in the dark.

I actually surprised myself with how air headed I was at that moment. I mean - Come on - I knew the park closed at 8pm. I knew it wouldn't be completely dark by 7:30pm.....Why the HECK did I think I would be riding in the dark?????? :lmao:

I am SO excited to try Sanaa!

You will LOVE it! Really, really good. I wish I was going back in September!

Sounds like a great evening! We've never been to Sanaa and I don't think I've even seen pics before. It looks gorgeous! Glad you enjoyed your meal!

It was a great evening! The restaurant is really, really cool inside. Pictures don't do it justice. The meal was fabulous. So glad we decided to try it.

As far as the Idol audition......:rolleyes1

I'm going to have to steal that picture you took of me and Tracy!

It's all yours - help yourself!

I agree with what you said about Primeval Whirl. It sure seemed like it took forever to get on that ride but the line didn't look that long :confused3 But it was fun chatting about our trips while we waited so it was good :thumbsup2

Agreed...Long wait, but fun to chat!

You meal at Saana sounds like fun. You almost have convinced me to put it on my to-try list. The desserts look Delish!

Do it! It was definitely my favorite meal of the trip. It gets top honors!

Hurray for meeting Tracy and Katie! Great pictures of the two of them and the three of you!

I'm so glad we all got to meet. It was a lot of fun!

Sanaa sounds delicious! I love all the pictures you took of the restaurant and the food. Definitely a place we will need to try in the future!

Definitely put it on your "must try" list. Especially since you love the AKL as much as you do. The theme is perfect.

Hope you are having a great Fourth of July!

I played hard the last two nights, so I am enjoying just chillin' at home. I can hear the fireworks in the background. I had a private showing of fireworks at a friend's house last night.

Hope you are having a great 4th, too!

Sanaa looks so colorful and bright inside. Very pretty. That bread looks amazing too. We get Naan bread from Trader Joe's and it is so yummy so I can imagine the bread from Sanaa is super delicious.

I love the picture of you, Katie and Tracy! So cute.

I think you should just get GPS tracker for Denny's phone so you know where he is at all times. :rotfl2:
