And I am not by nature a worry wart, but....I had my first (at 44) mammogram last week, and was called in for more pictures on the left side. fine, I know that happens a lot. The radiologist, after that was done, wanted ultrasound, did that, and he said there is "asymmentry" between my left and right side. He said not to worry, but he has ordered a MRI, and my Dr. office wants me to see a breast specialist.
I have no breast cancer in my family (lots of aunts, cousins), and there were no lumps found. I will of course follow through with all necessary tests, but I just need help getting through this long weekend without worrying too much! I don't want to tell my family/friends yet, as they will just worry too.

Was the mammogram routine (because it was time) or did you get one because your doctor found something in a routine breast exam?

I went through the same thing some time ago. Turned out to be "auxillary tissue", what ever that is. It is scary, though, till you find out everything is OK. The worry made my stomach uneasy and I had sleepless nights until it was resolved. :grouphug:

Do you mean "axillary" tissue? That is breast tissue that starts to expand out from the breast up toward the armpit area. I have that too, although, mine is definitely under my right arm and cannot be detected on a mammogram.

My first, routine, mammogram, nothing found during my recent physical.
Judy, it helps to hear that someone else went through the same thing, and a benign cause was found.

I am 34 now, but at the age of 27 my dr found a lump in my breast - i went for a mamogram first, which they had me follow it up with a breast sonogram, and another a year later. At that point (28) my dr sent me in to have it biopsied because they were concerned.

Turned out to be "fibrous tissue" - basically dense tissue, benign, nothing to worry about. But man did that whole thing scare me! I have still had to go back for mamograms every other year - way younger than the guidelines say.

You dr is probably just being cautious!

Here's a hug.

You have my prayers and best wishes. Hopefully, everything will turn out okay.:hug::hug:

I hope everything turns out ok for you!

I had a similar experience a few years ago. My doctor said he felt a lump and sent me for a mammogram. Then I was sent to a breast cancer specialist and had an MRI and an ultrasound. I was scared out of my wits! Turned out that I have a lot of fibroids in my breasts, so now every time I go in for a routine mammogram I have to go through the same routine. ;)

I hope you have the same experience that I had (without the stress) and it turns out to be just a bunch of tissue. :goodvibes
