I just washed a shirt that I made

and the ink ran on the transfer .. I used Mickey's dark transfer ... the ink did not run onto the shirt but only on the transfer part ... any ideas as to why this happened ??

I'm not sure but what setting did you use on your printer when you printed the transfer? You should use the plain paper setting rather than any high resolution or photo setting because the other settings will put too much ink on the transfer. Also you should allow the transfer to "set" after printing (don't iron it on for at least an hour).

Not sure what happened, ink setting, letting it dry?

I have 6 shirts that we just made for wearing now and test out before our trip b/c I wanted to see how long they would last and I have washed them now so many times I lost count with no running on any of them.

How soon after making the shirt did you wash it? Mickey's iron ons are the only ones I've found that don't run. I bought the Wiltons ones and they ran with one drop of water on them. I made a bunch for our April trip and DD and DH wore some to SWW last weekend with no problems.

Thanks for the suggestions .. I am not sure how long after I printed theses that I ironed them .. I feel like I have been making shirts FOREVER.. I did make some this weekend and I did the vinegar wash and it seemed to have worked. I have 5 more to make before we leave Friday .. I printed them tonight and will wait until tomorrow to iron them on .. then do the vinegar wash to set them up.

Only three more sleeps until we leave for Disney !!!!!!!
