I just talked to my brother on the phone - he's in Florida

A friend of mine from work is from India and has a 4 yo daughter who recently discovered the princesses. They decided to take a trip, so I began giving him some tips and advice. He came over to see me one day late last fall and told me they had finalized their plans. They ended up going the week between Xmas and New Years (to take advantage of our mandatory vacation), staying off-site because nothing was available on-site, and not renting a car - choosing to use a shuttle from the hotel. On top of that, they decided they could see everything in 4 days in the parks for their first trip.

Well, you can imaging how that went....Luckily, I think I've convinced him to give it another try with a few changes.

Unfortunately (for my nieces) I have a sister & Bil who hate WDW. They hated it before they ever went, they had already determined in their mind that it was just for kids & boring for adults. They only went because of their kids pestering them for several years & they went with the attitude of doing their "disney obligation". They refused any advice from anyone, went to the parks late (Bil refuses to get up early on his vacation) booked the most expensive package (so they could complain about the exorbinant cost later) & went in july (Bil detests the heat & crowds). They suceeded in sabotaging any hope of a good time. Sis & bil "played" the martyrs & sucked all the joy out of the vacation for the nieces.
Not everyone loves WDW but I believe that anyone can have a good time anywhere if they want to. Sometimes your enjoyment comes from just making others happy, not always what you want.
Much of my love of WDW is seeing the joy it brings my family & all the rememberances of the good times we have had there.

I have a framed poster in my office-The Art of Mickey Mouse by Akira Yokoyama, its a MM cloud behind The Castle. Recently one of bosses say that and said "that should be a mushroom shaped cloud'. They were kidding, but I asked them why, as I knew they had never been to WDW. There reply was basically 1. its an amusement park, so it must be terrible 2. its from Disney,ie-Big Business, so it must be terrible 3. it harms the environment by bringing pollution(cars, airplanes, trash etc) to Central Florida. All I said was I felt sorry for her kids, and voluntered to take her grandkids with us on our next trip. It was not entirely pleasant, and now I'm working on my resume.(just kidding)
