I just scored tickets to see Wicked!

I read the book and my sister saw the show in St Louis- we discussed it the next day and the two are very different- and if anyone is taking kids planning to see something like the wizard of oz or even Dorothy- the storylines cross VERY little - obviously with the house falling and Dorothy killing Elphaba (WWof W) but other than that it is nothing like Oz- the book has some sexual content - I don't know about the show though?

My dd and I just saw Wicked in St. Louis last weekend. It was awesome!! We saw the Glinda understudy and she was fantastic. I had no idea how funny the whole show is. You are so lucky. Enjoy!!

I just checked Ticketmaster and didn't see it listed at all for Tampa. What am I doing wrong that I can't see this? We have friends there and this would make a great weekend trip for us.

I didn't go through ticketmaster. I just went straight to the Tampa performing arts center website. I got my tickets for Jan 31st. The weekends are all sold out, but I was able to get floor seats for the 31st.

Good luck!

chesirechik - I am also going to see Wicked in Pittsburgh, on Sunday March 5th at 6:30. What day are you going? I was able to round up a group of 20+ so I bought the tickets last month. They said group sales were really strong, so I won't be surprised if all of the shows sell out quickly.

The LK 4 how cool! I got tickets for my husband and I on March 4th for the 8pm show. I got the cheapest 2nd tier seats since the Benedum has pretty good views throughout the theater. I just couldn't afford the $70+ tickets right after Christmas & WDW in Jan, though I would have LOVED to have been close!

I told a few other people in my office about the pre-sale and they jumped on and got tickets - the site was running REALLY slow this morning, so I'm wondering how fast the shows will sell.

One of the ladies at my gym got us tickets for Kennedy center back in October (guess that was pre-sale) We're going to a Matinee on the 8th (I think)

We also saw it in Chicago, matinee, with Ana Gasteyer of SNL fame as Elphaba. It is just the coolest show! DD wore black and a witch's hat and the theater ushers kept fussing over her...and she is 15! Our DS 11 keeps asking to see it again...it is so creative. We saw it on 10/1...and Halloween is DD's favorite holiday, so it was a perfect way to start off the Halloween season. You will have a fab time! Set your $25 aside now for the cd...you will want to play it over and over! (tho I believe it is the Broadway cast from NYC)

"Wicked" is the story of what happened in Oz before Dorothy dropped in. It is the story of Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda, who becomes Glinda the Good Witch. They were actually friends when they were at school.

It focuses on how we judge people, often based on how they look. Elphaba was green and therefore perceived as different, and later Wicked. It shows how easily people are led to believe something, when in actuality they haven't taken the time to understand.

It is the story of good friends, and the choices that they made, and how those choices ultimately affected their entire lives. It is about love, and the loss of love and what that can do to us. It is also the story of the power of true friendship.

It is about trying your hardest to do good for people you love and having those actions be misunderstood. It is also about the pain that that can cause.

The show is brilliantly written. Watch for numerous plays on words and how they relate the the OZ story that we already know. It shows us who the characters who befriend Dorothy were and how they came to be who they were. It is a dark show and there is a bit of mild sexual content in the form of the birth of Elphaba in the beginning of the show and a steamy love song later on. In spite of some of the dark content is is a wickedly funny show...pardon the pun.....and will have you laughing one minute and crying the next.

It has become one of my all time favorite shows and the last song has become a theme song of mine. If you can get tickets....run don't walk and see if you can learn to "Defy Gravity!"

The play is very different from the book. The music in the show is wonderful, especially the song "For Good" (bring hankies!) We were lucky enough to see the original broadway cast, Indina Menzel was amazing! But with any cast the show will be terrific, the sets and costumes, its just a wonderful show!

Saw it in Toronto last spring. It was amazing. I loved every second of it and still listen to the soundtrack all the time.

That was one of the days I was trying for as it's my birthday. But I really wanted to go on Christmas Eve. But I would get into the site and it would lock up on me whenever I started to pick seats. I just started putting in different days to see which one would "take" and Christmas Day was it.

I guess that's fine. We don't really do much on Christmas Day and, by the evening, we are a tad bored, so going to the Kennedy Center that evening will be a nice change of pace.

The darn seat people inline ahead of you ticker kept freezing on me....I was really hoping for the 30th because I had already bought FLyers/Cap hockey tix for the next afternoon. I felt like I had won the superbowl when I finally had the seats purchased.

Are you able to share with us how you got them early? Is it a code? All I see on the website is that tickets go on sale Monday. Can you PM me? I would really like to take DD, 15 to this.
