I'm so excited. It is coming to Pittsburgh for a 2 week engagement starting at the end of February. Has anyone seen it in a city other than NYC on Broadway? Still good?

I signed up for emails from our cultural trust program in Pittsburgh and got an email this morning to buy tickets in a pre-sale - tix go on sale to the general publice Monday.

I'm SO SO excited!

Good for you!!

I will be seeing it at The Kennedy Center on Christmas Day. I didn't get to do a "pre-sale" and spent 6.5 hours on the Kennedy Center website trying to get tickets (it was so swamped it kept crashing and couldn't handle the volume). My co-worker saw it in NYC and loved it but I haven't talked to anyone who has seen it outside of NY. I'm sure it will be fabulous.

:cheer2:

DH got us tix to see Wicked on Broadway in Feb. for my Christmas present. I hear it's excellent!

Christine, I was planning on being at the box office in town very early Monday morning when the tickets went on sale to the public.

I don't know that it will sell out here. I'm thinking it might - I know The Producers did when it made it's rounds.

Oh, it will sell out. Trust me. It is in Washington DC for about 6 weeks. Every show sold out within 24 hours.

I just got tickets for the family to see this when it's in Tampa late Jan/early Feb. Tickets have been available for a couple of weeks, and I was able to still get a pretty decent set of seats for a weeknight. But the weekends and matinees were all sold out.

I took DD to see it in NYC last spring, and it was really good.

DD saw it in Chicago a couple of weeks ago, and RAVED about it (and this is an indifferent teenager who rarely raves about anything these days!)

Do any of you know if the musical differs alot from the book? I read the book, and I'm having a hard time imagining it as a musical! I saw the 2 witches singing a song when I was watching the Macy's Parade, and they were amazing together.

I was told that it is quite a bit different from the book. I have not read the book but my co-worker did. The show is not as "dark" as the book--if that makes sense?

Christine that definitely makes sense to me. I don't care one way or the other. I loved the book, but I've heard such rave reviews that I'm sure the show will be great.

A friend of mine saw it in Chicago and absolutely loved it. Chicago seems to be sold out for the holiday season. Ebay prices are sky high.

Hey I was one of those people too! As you can see by my sig I am going at the end of December (30th). We were lucky....they sold out in 1 day!

I get the impression, from the music, it will be alot different from the book...but I don't care.

That was one of the days I was trying for as it's my birthday. But I really wanted to go on Christmas Eve. But I would get into the site and it would lock up on me whenever I started to pick seats. I just started putting in different days to see which one would "take" and Christmas Day was it.

I guess that's fine. We don't really do much on Christmas Day and, by the evening, we are a tad bored, so going to the Kennedy Center that evening will be a nice change of pace.

We have tickets to see it in Chicago in January. I am taking my eldest DD for her B-day. We are really looking forward to it.

I just checked Ticketmaster and didn't see it listed at all for Tampa. What am I doing wrong that I can't see this? We have friends there and this would make a great weekend trip for us.

We saw Wicked on Broadway back when it was still all of the original cast (Kristen Chenowith, Joel Gray, etc.) and then saw it last month when it was here in the Dallas area. Both were great. As for talent and sets, there is little (if any) difference in quality.

We saw "Wicked" in Chicago in July. Loved it! Went to St. Louis to see a different cast last Saturday. It is AMAZING! DD loves it so much that she's gotten to know the star "Elphaba" played by Stephanie J. Block who gave her another ticket to see it before the show leaves St. Louis this weekend. If I had read the book first, I would probably be totally confused. It is dark.

Congrats!! We saw the touring version of Wicked when it was in Chicago in May! I LOVED it!!!

The stage version is different than the book. The stories are similar, yet different...lol...like that makes sense. The book is very dark whereas the stage version is bright and not so gloomy. They also twisted the stories around a bit to make it a little more family/stage friendly.

I enjoyed the book, but I much prefer the "disneyfied" version on stage! Enjoy!!

How interesting! While I enjoyed the book - I, too, can now look forward to seeing the "disneyfied" version one day!
