I am listening to Fox News and I heard an "ad" come on. I didn't turn around to look. The message starts out (paraphrased). "The goal of Saddam was to kill all Kurds; he failed, "Thank you America, thank you, and then it has different voices of men, women, children in their native and English language saying thank you." I didn't see the image until the last part. That said, A thank you from "Kurdistan, the other Iraq". I was so touched that I have tears in my eyes. Its a reminder of why we went!

My favorite ad is the Dr. Pepper commercial, you know, the one with the Meatloaf song? :goodvibes

;)

Are you guys kidding? There is this beautiful, poignant thank you from an entire ethnic group of people who saw thousands of their country men, women and children gassed by Saddam and they are sending a heartfelt Thank you to the United States and you are thinking about Geico and meatloaf??? :confused3

I also like the ones for Petco maybe? Not sure, but it's David Duchovney talking...it's starts something like "we're for puppies."

;) :teeth:

Did you get mine? :)

I'm sure Dawn did, she seems like a very smart woman.

Just taking the passive road tonight, I ate falafels today and now I'm stuffed and tired. :teeth:

The point I got was your disrespect for the job that our American forces have done liberating an entire country. I would elaborate further but I think YOU got my point!

Thanks for sharing Dawn. :)

I havent seen it but it sounds really nice.

I guess I was wrong. :confused3

Please continue to congratulate each other on the fine job we've done. :goodvibes (please spare me the line about not supporting the military though, it's a warped record at this point.)

Please, Please don't tell me you actually believe that the 'ad' was thought of and put together by the Kurds?

More like propaganda from a gasping, desperate administration who just got their tushies whooped yesterday.

While I am glad the Kurds were helped, what about the 2,000+ US soldiers and the 10,000+ other innocent Iraqis that have died due to the war?

I think the Gap Ads are definitely strange!

I don't have cable--and I saw this thread going down hill and was playing off poster #2.

I'm sure it was a very touching PSA.

Yes, I'm Republican, I voted for Bush, I'm conservative...but I do wonder, who paid for the spot. :confused3

You mentioned commercials and now I have the Aflac duck stuck in my head... Aflaaaac!. Aaaarg!!

I saw this really moving Alzheimer's commercial the other day.It made me cry.
As to the OP,I don't doubt we've done some good in Iraq

I have no idea who paid for the spot. If its a PSA the only costs are production costs. I don't see why it matters if it reflects the sentiment of the Kurds.

It was a good commercial DawnCT. Remember, some people's perceptual screens will only let them see the ad a certain way. I perceive it as a true thank you. It leaves me with a good feeling. I hope my former students serving in Iraq right now get to see it.

I apologize for messing with your thread.

I haven't seen the ad myself and will never get the opportunity to do so.
