So the last time we went to Disney we buy souvenier's as all people do. As you know Disney offers a special item when you buy $40+. We thought you had to buy all the items in one store to receive this item. But i remember that a cast member said if you keep your receipts and if all of your purchase adds up to the right amount you can just show the castmember behind the counter at a store for the item.

That's what we did and it worked. :) That way if you want to buy something in the beginning of trip and didn't want to spend all your $$ in one spot you can keep receipts for that item. :yay:

So what do you get for spending $40? We would spend that in a shop easily so just curious. :]

It could be a tote bag for $19.95 or a fleece throw or duffel bag for $24.95. It varies from month to month.

It varies, we've got a throw, starter pin set, a watch, etc... You normally have to spend either 40 or 75 THEN you have to buy the item, it's like 20.00.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't know that, either. A few years back I got the fleece throw, and I use it frequently. I have it on my lap right now! It's warm but it's not heavy.

I can tell you for a fact that they do not allow this at The Studios -- at least not at all of the stores. I watched a manager at one of the stores tell a guest that she could not take advantage of the purchase-with-purchase unless the guest spent the required minimum at that store. She would not accept receipts from other stores.

They let us combine multiple receipts at Disneyland last year. I think it had to be the same day, but I could be wrong about that part.

This used to be the case, but I know for sure it will not work in Tomorrowland unless all the receipts are from stores in Tomorrowland.

We found this out at Epcot when we were in Mouse Ears.
i also think it works down in DTD. But it could vary by park/place.
We also seen pins with lanyard offered for $19.99 like a starter set. I was lucky enough to trade pins for the entire set they were offering so we took the fleece instead. Also they offer watches. I also think the offers differs in places as well as the holidays. I've seen winter/christmasy fleece throws. I got a castle one a few years ago and a blue one in 2012.

Oh one year they offered duffel bags with wheels that I loved until it got holes in it. lol. I wonder if they offer anything with the Flower and Garden festival since we'll be there in early May.
I'm not sure when our receipts were from, but i think it was from two days but not 100% sure.

DH bought a very nice black WDW backpack last time. High quality and so worth it!

I had no idea - or if I did when I last went (5 yrs ago) I've totally forgotten. I'll be doing this for sure! :)

About those throws... I once asked a CM if I needed to spend $80 to be able to purchase 2 of them or if just spending $40 would work. She asked if I had any receipts from previous purchases and I said all I had was a receipt for a $90 meal at BoG that day. She said she could get in trouble for it but at the same time seemed happy to make the transaction and was already in the process of doing so. So I guess... your mileage may vary. This was at the Emporium at MK.

We did it at Villains in Vogue last September. I think it depends on who rings you through.

So the receipts all have to be from the same day? The rest (whether it's an accepted practice or not) is variable from CM to CM and store to store?

I work merchandise and we do not like to do that. You really are supposed to buy the whole dollar amount in the one store where you want to get the purchase with purchase product. We can combine receipts from the same store but I have been told by leaders that we are not supposed to do this. But that does not mean we are not going to.

Also if you do decide to get the purchase with purchase item you can get as many as you want as long as you spend that initial $25 or whatever is required. If you need to spend $25 for a towel and you spent $30 you can get 5 towels. Just like if you have to spend $25 for a towel or $40 for a tote and you spent $45 you can get 2 towels and 2 totes. At least that is how we did it last year at Mouse Gears.
