I just read something disturbing... RE: Ears

There are no special perks. On occassion, a CM may give a couple with the ears some sort of special treatment, for instance, a free dessert, or a car of thier own on a ride. There is no requirement, nor does it happen to everyone. It's nice if it happens and if not, then lots of people still cogratulate you and wish you well, which I think, is the best part!

I guess that I should have added in the initial message that this is all hear-say (sp?) and I know that it wouldn't stand up in a court of law. That said, I want to again remind everyone that this is based on someone else's experience and opinions. My posting was to let others know what is being though (at least) about ears abuse. I *still* can't believe that people are out to get things and wear ears because of it... morally, that is wrong to me (key words, "to me"),

I did also post my opinions and concerns, but that was just what I was thinking about it. I look about 14, so I get a lot of negative comments - aren't you too young, that isn't real is it (my diamond), etc. So, this is a concern for me at WDW as much as it does now and, when I will look maybe 16 and be pregnant in a few years.

But I definately love the well wishes, although I have never really figured out how to accept compliments... nother story.

My Dh and I had decided we were going to wear our wedding ears on our annv. only and that was to our annv meal at Tony's. Now If I get down there I might just decide to wear them the whole week and it would have nothing to do with the perks.

Personally, I really don't think people are wearing the wedding ears just to get the perks, simply because most people don't even know about these so called perks. Also, wearing the wedding ears doesn't guarantee that you will recieve any perks or special treatment. I would also like to add that my 6th year anniversary is tomorrow and my husband is giving me and our whole family a huge trip to WDW/Univ. for our anniversary and even though we aren't honeymooning or getting married in WDW(as of yet) the week of 10/15-10/23 we will be there and will be wearing our wedding ears, because we will be celebrating our anniversary. We won't be expecting any special treatment and if anyone asks I will be happy to tell them why we are wearing them.

Even if there are jerks out there who wear the bridal ears just to get special attention, it's not going to take away the magic for the real newlyweds/anniversary/vow renewal people.. unless you let it bother you!

We wore the ears (see my signature) on our honeymoon last December. We were actually married in March, but we waited til Christmas week to take our honeymoon. Someone asked us if we had just gotten married, and I said, "We got married in March!" and they were like, "Oh. That was 9 months ago." in this snotty tone of voice. So, from that moment on, whenever someone asked when we got married, we just said, "Last weekend!" I didn't think it was right that we should be looked down on because we waited a few months to take our honeymoon.

When we go back for our vow renewal, I'd love to wear our ears again, and I bet DH would like to also!

Jeepers, I'm planning on wearing the ears for my VR next year. My actual anniversary is in October, but I want to go to WDW in December. I'm going to put "20 years" in the ears, so maybe that will answer enough questions. Those people who are rude need to get in to the Disney spirit, or be kicked out for being party-poopers!

DH and I were married last November but we couldn't afford our honeymoon after the wedding so we are returning this year for 3 weeks 3 days after our anniversary and I want to wear the ears but I was also worried that people may think we are cheating somehow because we got married last year.

What do you guys think?

If you consider it either an anniversary trip or honeymoon, I think you are fine. There is also distinct difference between wearing them because you want to and wearing them because you think they willg et you something special.

I'v talked to my hubby about this...We got married at WDW in March, stayed 2 days after, but Disney had lost my ears, so we never got a chance to wear them around the parks and then we left and Brian went back to Korea for the rest of his year there 2 weeks later, so we never had a real honelymoon. Now, we are moving to Italy in Sept and are taking a short "honeymoon" to Disney before we leave the US and are talking about wearing our ears around, since we missed the chance when we actually got married. Since this is our honemoon, we want to get pics of us all over with the ears on. :)

While many couples wear the bride and groom hats to celebrate their wedding, honeymoon or anniversary, remember that they are just hats! Just like regular Mickey Ears, or the Sorceriers hat, or the Goofy hat. Many people who visit Disney World like to wear the hats to be silly and don't mean to effend anyone. I believe many people who wear the bride and groom ears, have no idea about the perks. They are wearing them to be silly and have fun! Just like those of us who wear the other Disney hats.

My husband and I honeymooned in Disney World 7 months ago and wore the bride and groom ears. Yes, we did get many inquires about whether we were really married or not! It didn't bother us at all. One girl who looked to be the age of 5 or 6, asked me if I was the real Minnie Mouse! It was cute. I just played along and said I was Minnie's sister.

I had posted a question on another board and I was referred over here!

DH and I were married at WDW 2 years ago. We were going to go back for our anniversary, but decided to take the trip in Sept/Oct. My best friend and her DH, who got married in May, are taking their trip at that time and we thought it would be fun to go together. DH and I consider it our anniversary/second honeymoon and it technically is my friend's honeymoon.

Could all 4 of us wear our ears even though the dates aren't perfect???

It's still your 2 year anniversary no matter what month you decide to go! Wear the ears and have fun. :D

My husband and I married in December, but when we plan a Vow Renewal at Disney, we might do it during the summer time. As you can see, you're not alone in planning an anniversary trip to WDW outside of the month you married!

We just got back from a wonderful Honeymoon at WDW and I wore my headband ears and my dh wore his top hat. We were greeted with congratualtions everywhere. People even wanted to take our picture. No one ever asked if we were really married, though a few men tested my dh to see if he new how long we had been married. It was funny when he had to count the days!!!!

Wear your ears and be proud!!!!

It is a lot of fun

I have always regarded the groom/bride ears to reflect a couple who wants to show they are together and having fun. If you think about it, you could always create a special day to wear them, first kiss, first hug, first date, wedding, anniversary, etc. I just love to see couples sporting the hats and having a wonderful time.

At one shop at MGM, and at the Christmas shop at Downtown Disney, they will embroider your wedding date on the ears, so that if you're wearing them for an anniversary, people know it's an anniversary and not that you've just gotten married at WDW.
Cheers!

That's a cute idea - Heather I take it they embroidered on the other side of the ear i.e. the one that doesn't have sequins ?

We got the beanies, they were not embroidered on but painted on, they were beautiful. One of these days I'll get around to posting a pic, even!

Oh LOL was I getting confused about which ears were embroidered - doh !! I thought Heather meant the sequined Bridal headbands rather than the beanies - silly old Sammy :p
